August 2017 - Touring Plan Question

Hi there! So, I'm struggling with which days to make our visits to DHS and AK. We have a 10 day trip from August 3-13. We usually spend the first 4 days with full park days - then do a more relaxed park hopping 2nd half of the trip. We are looking to visit DHS and AK on Sun, Aug 6 and Mon, Aug 7. I'm struggling with which park to visit on those days. Kenny the Pirate's calendars go by EMH - so DHS has EMH on Sunday and AK is Monday. So, Kenny the Pirate says to avoid those parks on those days. But, then, Touring Plans has AK a 5 on both days and DHS is a 7 on Sunday and 8 on Monday.

Any thoughts on these two parks? I am waiting to hear about ROL --- wondering if it will be offered every night this summer.

Yes! They are both AM EMH and we are staying at Wilderness Lodge Villas

Only avoid those parks if you don't get up early to use EMH mornings, especially in the summer.

Thoughts on getting up to get there for EMH? We aren't great morning people - but also want to make sure we have the chance to hit the big E rides (especially with the tiered FP). Is it worth dragging my kids out of bed for AM EMH? We will be visiting those parks again during our trip - so it will not be our only day at each park

You can get a lot done in the morning with EMH. It mightn't be worth getting them up. Do you close a park down the night before? Maybe do early morning then break around noon for pool time and quick nap and back to park around dinnner time?

If you are able to be about 30 min before am EMH at rope drop, then do DHS on the Sunday. Get a few major rides then hop to AK with less crowd (theoretically) since there are am EMH on both Saturday and Monday. Otherwise, visit AK on Sunday for the same reason. This is what I would do. I actually plan to go to AK on August 27.
