August 2016 Car Rental Rate watch

We're renting from Alamo at home, and last week I was able to get a full-size for 13 days for $275. I used the Costco code and the $25 coupon code as well. I keep checking to see if it will go lower, but prices have gone up almost $150 in less than a week.

I have a "decent" rate for Alamo picking up at TPA and dropping off at the Dolphin for 6 days a coupon code, contract code and the AS1 code and I am paying $172 for a full size. Just wondering if anyone else has used the AS1 code recently? Hoping I am not told to leave the vehicle for this price when we are trying to leave the lot.

My USAA rate with Budget dropped today. Still above the rate I have booked with Avis, but maybe worth checking again if you don't have something yet.

Does Budget and Avis allow a free additional driver? That is VERY important to me. Also, do they allow you to go over to the garage and choose your car or do they bring one to you? I prefer choosing my own car. I never rented from any other company but Alamo over the past 10 years. They always seemed to have the better deals and allowed the free additional driver.

If you're using a USAA rate, I know they both do include additional driver and insurance. If you're a member of the clubs, I think you can go straight out and get a car. I know you can with Budget. I have Hertz this time at $185 all in for a standard from 8/24-8/31, but can't remember if I've used them in the past.

I just booked a midsize SUV from both Hertz ($215 total) and Alamo ($236 total) from TPA for a week. Anyone have input on preference? We get a free additional driver through BJs with Alamo, but likely won't use it. I've never rented from TPA, so have no sense if one is better than the other. I'd love first hand input from the DIS!

I used 7015309 (Costco code) and AD3868JST which is the $25 off coupon. Hope that helps! :goodvibes

Mine finally went below $300 using the $25 off coupon and the AP ID code. This is the first time I ever got anything off with the AP code. :woohoo: Going to keep checking though, this is still the most we have ever spent for a week.

Yep....Rates did drop. New rates gave me a quote $450....But my rate is still better and holding at $325 !!! But these new rates are good news for those who didn't have anything reserved/booked yet. At least ts going down instead of up!!! Lets hope the rates keep drooping!!! :woohoo:

Heads up! Alamo rates are a bit lower right now. Still not the lowest or as low as what I currently have but lower than I've seen in a while. For those that have high rates it might be worth a look. Good luck!

Down still a little bit more this afternoon! I hope it keeps going!!!!!! *5 more days!*

Yes, I'm stil checking too! It's $60 more than what I have reserved but you never know. 5 days for me too!

I booked a midsize for October & got a great price($141 for a week) using Visit Orlando K & AS1 product code. When I tried AS1 with the AP contract#, it wouldn't go thru.(Said I had to take out a value & when I removed AS1, it went thru but for a much higher price) Has anyone has good or bad experiences with AS1? I want a good price BUT I don't want to start my October trip with a tussle or being forced to the counter.

We leave tomorrow on a 7:00 am flight. I took a glance at Costco tonight not expecting a change, but the rate dropped by $30. I now have a full size from Mco from 8-6 to 8-12 for $188. Don't give up hope!

My Alamo dropped today from $290 - $243 for a full size 8/21 for 7 nights/8 days.
