August 2016 Car Rental Rate watch

Alamo rates have dropped this week by over $50 for a full size. It is so hard to know just when to book. I think I may book something and still keep checking, it's easy enough to cancel and rebook. I usually get the best rates 2 weeks out, but I'm not sure that will happen this year.

I've had Alamo midsize/full size/premium for a couple months.. $133/$177/$221 using the Costco and the $25 off code.
This morning I snagged an Alamo luxury for $255 using the entertainment book code and coupon. It was $279 with the Costco code.
I'm seriously considering the splurge .. I drive a Honda Civic at home, and the home surely isn't as upscale as the GF!
Thinking it'll be a nice surprise for DD13 to walk past the midsize aisle and put her in a Caddie!
This is a once in a lifetime trip after all

Go for it! It's fun to splurge sometimes!

What is the entertainment book code?

What is the entertainment book code?
I followed the link through my Entertainment App... I did buy a book. The $25 off $175 total code is AD2433JAT, The E Book Customer # is 7014697

Using the E Book code and the Costco 7014627, I got the Luxury down to $250
my dates are 8/9-8/15

I noticed Alamo rates are trending down. Not lower than what I have currently but I'm crossing my fingers that the trend continues!

I always book a rate that I'm semi-ok with just as a placeholder and will keep rebooking and cancelling if/when it goes down. I've probably rebooked and cancelled 5 times this trip. I'm happy where I am but will rebook and cancel if it goes down any more. Good luck!

Definatley book something, and jeep checking. I'm less than 2 weeks out. We leave 8/3 and Alamo rates have not dropped lower than what I booked months ago, 10 days for mid size $230. It's a little over a week before we leave. I haven't given up hope. I've been checking 2x a day! But doesn't look like I'll be getting a rate like last year :sad2: $180 for a standard size.

My rates STILL haven't dropped. I think I need to check at more random times thruout the day. I never check at night, and I think I need to. I have my reservation printed for $325.90 for a midsize for 15 days. The prices now are still in the $500 range for a mid-size. Unbelievable !!!! :sad2:

How is everyone getting lower rates on Costco? I am using the Costco code 7014627 and my rates are higher !!! Whats going on??
Do I need to make my reservation thru the Costco website instead? My rates have NEVER dropped since I made my reservation. :(

I went to the costco website- no code needed.

I just did it thru Costco website....prices still over $500 for a midsize....I dont understand what is going on with these rates!!! :confused3

looking for rental 8 /3 or 8/2 one week and it's high. Tried one code but didn't work. Has anyone booked today or this week with a good code that can post the #? thanks much. I don't have a costco store so not a member.

Thanks, it is down a little more so I booked tonight. Mid size SUV for $310. That is the most we have ever paid for a week. We usually get a full size but the SUV was $10 less so I booked that instead. I'll keep watching and hoping it at least goes under $300.

Now that you mention it, my rates in February didn't go down at all before our trip, so I booked something I can live with at least. I will keep checking though and hoping for them to drop some more. Hope yours comes down. Did you try the IG code? It never worked for me but I always try before I do the online checkin.

Alamo coupon $25 off. AD2823JAG. Worked for me tonight. Insiders free upgrade coupon, AU5224JAB. The $25 off was a better deal so I used that one. I also used Orlando magicard ID 7016220. I don't think it took anything more off though. You can only use one coupon but you can stack that with an ID code. You just have to play around with different ID codes and coupon codes to find the best one. Good luck.

No, I didn't try IG. I booked on Costco site and use low price finder on their ite that automatically applies any coupons. I'm very glad I booked something I can live with. This is the first time prices haven't gone flown much at last minute, wow!! I'm hoping my midsize goes down under $200

Booked a 7-passenger minivan from 8/16 to 8/22 using the $25 off, the Costco contract ID for the additional driver, and the AS1 product code, for $206. I thought this was a steal coz I've been looking for a while and everything's always in the $400's at best.

Anyone have any issue with the AS1?
