When its 100 degrees what you wear isn't going to make much of a difference. You could be in daisy dukes and you will still be sweltering - pants dont add that much to it. I plan on wearing sundresses and biker shorts (because my thighs catch fire if I dont) and shorter capris. I found nice ones at Penneys in the Petite section. I am 5'2 with very muscular legs as well so I feel your pain, but these capris weren't quite capris and not quite shorts, they were perfect.

I wouldn't wear pants, let me suggest yet another option.

In my everyday life I am a jeans and a tee kind of gal. When I go to Disney, all I ever wear is sundresses. I decided this on a 95 degree day in Epcot September 2010. They're loose, they are feather light and easy to pack, they take less space in my bag, and I appreciate the breeze blowing up my skirt if there is one. As an added plus, they are all on clearance right now this time of year, so if you never wear them again you aren't out much. If you really don't want your legs to show you can get a maxi dress, Old Navy has some cute ones. They'll keep you cool AND covered.

Agree! I don't really wear shorts either- I have a few pairs to wear my Disney tees with, but most days I will wear dresses. Just bought four new dresses from Old Navy for about $15 each. Pants will just be too hot. (Some nights, if it rains, you can get away with wearing jeans, but during the day, you'll be uncomfortable, even in yoga pants.)

Also got two really cute Maxi dresses at Swell.com and Macy's- each $20! Check out Macy's today- they are having a one day sale and their dresses are pretty cheap.

Love the team august mickey on the lanyard! I'll be borrowing that idea...lol

It fits on there just perfect! I resized it to like 3.5" high and double laminated so its nice and sturdy. I hope to see some of the ones I made for people when I'm down there! :cool1:

Good point about the fire. I'm sure mine would too. :rotfl: I will have to check out Penny's. I'm 5'4" so my issue is I can't wear petites or regular very well. When I wear petite or short stuff it looks ok standing but when I sit they become too short. When I wear normal stuff its all too long and needs hemed. :P

Ahhh my new Disney shirts! Can't wear those with dresses so i will at least need one or two pairs of shorts (or pants). No Macy's where I live, but I will have to check out Old Navy though. Thanks! :flower3:

Penney's had some really cute sundresses for under $20 too. And if you have a Kohl's or Target nearby- I always have luck finding cute dresses there!

I love Garden grocer. AS soon as we checked in last time, got a call that Bell services was bringing our stuff to us. They have a spot for GG tips now on the site(we did $10) and I tip bell services for bringing it to the room

I would NOT wear pants in disney in Aug. Capris in a light fabric would be a lot to me. I like dresses and skirts with tanks(no bike shorts otherwise I would skip the dress and wear just shorts and tops. too many layers.). Ppl of all shapes and sizes wear all sorts of clothes(good and bad, lol.) Wear what makes you comfortable but make sure mentally comfortable isnt physically HOT.

Hi everyone! I know this is last minute but I received a coupon for 10% off Magic Stroller rentals. I used them last year and they were great! I highly recommend. They use City Mini strollers and offer a rain guard for no extra charge. They deliver and pick up right from your resort, and send you a text for delivery confirmation. If you are interested private message me so I can forward the link to those interested.

Shoot! I just reserved kingdom strollers. Thanks anyway!

As far as the what to wear in August conversation..
As lightweight as humanly possible. I would wear skirts or dresses (with the bike shorts as someone suggested) or capris or the dreaded shorts.
I stick to Capri's myself. I can honestly tell you the only time I ever commented on what someone was wearing was in Epcot last August when someone walked by in jeans. I literally remember saying to my husband "Now that is heat stroke waiting to happen":crazy2:
I too am very pale, short and plump and I could care less. It is just too darn hot for pants.
Take your hottest day at home, add in vicious humidity and then imagine being out in it all day long.

ETA) My dd went through a very self conscious phase where she hated shorts. She was 14 and you know how much pressure young girls put on themselves.. she's beautiful..anyway..On that trip she came out of the bathroom in shorts that I hadn't seen her wear all summer. I asked her what happened to the "no shorts" policy. She said "It's a million degrees, I'm over it" lol.

Love it! I'm trying to decide what to pack too. Do you find short skirts a problem with rides? Not real short, just knee length. I'm packing all skirts or skorts for DD4 but didn't even think of this for me! I'm packing all swim trunks for DS6 so he's cooler, dries fast and doesn't need underwear (sooo too much info, right?).... So he really will be doing the parks commando! :)

I was fine in knee length dresses!

Good idea for your son! I may have to put the boys in their board shorts & trunks- especially for AK when we love to ride Kali River Rapids 800 times! lol

Agree about the swim shorts, what a great idea. I may just have to tell my mum about that for my brother for summer camp as well!

Thanks! I stocked up at a used kids store called once upon a child. He's living in them! And I even found a pair of board shorts with a red/white luau pattern and a surfing Mickey patch. So cool!

We are going to Typhoon Lagoon our first day after coming off of a red eye flight at 6:00am, so I called about renting a private space there, along with a cabana. Holy frijoles I wasn't prepared for that number. For just my daughter and I, it was like $325. I was FLOORED. I thought it was around $250, less in "value" season, which the last week of August is. Maybe it's because it's a Saturday, I don't know.

I went with a premium chair space for $53 instead. No way am I splurging over $300. If food and alcohol were included, maybe, but not just for a covered patio, a locker, and a cooler of water.

Great idea!!!!!
And they will come in handy for several places. There's the tiki's that spray in Adventureland, the pavement that has a small splash area in Epcot, Kali in AK, and now the Casey Splash area in the MK. Oh and DHS has the coca cola area that sprays too! It's great if they are wearing something where they can just run into the water and not have to worry about being soggy and uncomfortable for the rest of the day.
I am stealing the idea for Universal too! Those two parks have many areas for the kids to run around and cool off. I always brought him a change of clothes but it never occurred to me to just leave my ds in his swimsuit!!

And for the knee length skirts, we've never found them to be a problem. DD does wear bike shorts under the shorter ones. She wears a kilt to school so she's used to putting something under it so she can sit or climb the stairs without worrying about the boys.:rolleyes2

I would love to get into a photopass share if possible! Its just going to be me and DS for the 4.5 days so I can't see spending $120.

Definitely! Shares make it so much more affordable. The Facebook group is here: http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/78167743594/
I'll PM you as well.

I have another question for you all, hope you don't mind.

What are your thoughts on pants in late August?? I know JEANS would be too hot but what about khaki's or knit/yoga pants? I was/am planning on purchasing shorts but I never wear shorts. I have to wear pants at work and at home I wear causal knit dresses.

I'm more comfortable in pants and I will get more use out of pants. Shorts would only ever be worn at Disney. My legs cause me to be self conscious but I'm thinking the mix of the heat and Disney will make me overlook that. ;)

Oh and I'm very anti-capris. I have thick muscalar calves and I have short legs so they just look awful on me. Can't wear those at work either.

I like leggings sometimes. I pair them with t-shirts or tunic length tops and i'm cool, and feel completely comfortable, even in the heat. I've also been known to wear leggings to waterparks just to feel comfy when lounging in the lazy river rather than adjusting my swimsuit all the time. They don't necessarily dry completely quickly, but they feel comfortable even when wet.

On days where I know we will likely get wet in the parks (i.e. kali River Rapids!), I make sure we all wear things that will be comfortable when wet and will dry. So swimwear or dry-fit type clothes.

My kids seriously spent half an hour in those fountains right outside the Captain EO 3-D theater! They were soaked but totally happy!

If you click on one of your reservations it has you put your password in and it refreshes your countdown. Essentially it logs you out and shows the countdown from the last time you actually logged in.
Thanks!!!

Good idea! With that in mind I went to Walmart's website and they had pants with moisture wicking technology meaning they'd wick sweat away so that's kind of a neat idea. I'm not sure if the walmart version of it will work but I know people at my work wear moisture wicking undershirts alot and say they work good (i work at an office in a factory and factory workers wear them when its hot bc they don't have AC out there and its been 90s-100s here recently). I wonder how those would do with water rides. They should be good with heat and sweat though...

:rotfl2: LOVE what your daughter said! It really isn't about how I look in shorts. I know it will be hot and i wont care. I just hate having to buy shorts when I will only wear them once. Hopefully I can catch some summer clearance sales if I do.

Thanks to everyone on your ideas for pants/shorts/dresses! :flower3:
