We don't usually make room requests but I'm going to from now on. I wasn't too pleased that i paid extra for a preferred room at CBR and ended up in the farthest preferrred room from food court. Seriously like 10 more feet and it would have been nonpreferred. We did request ground floor at CBR - for the stroller.

We are in a Lion King Suite so I think I will ask for a room closer to Nemo. We don't decorate but i do also need to remember to ask for a bedrail.

I have a question today if thats ok-
Do you have any special requests for your room location at the resort? Why is that your preference?

We are staying offsite, but have made several requests at our resort.....first, for a high floor (to minimize noise), secondly, for a renovated room (apparently some have been modernized whereas others have not), and thirdly, for a pool view room (as opposed to a lake view).

Not sure which ones will be honoured, but like Victoriasmom98 said, it sure doesn't hurt to ask!

Oh, no...it is sooo much easier than that! Bought green shirts. Cut out a Mickey from a plastic sheet protector. Used it as a stencil, laying it on the shirts and sprayed around it with bleach (mixed about 50/50 with water). I did it outside on the lawn in the sun and had a bucket of clean water to rinse them in after a minute or so when I was happy with the fading. It was QUICK and EASY!

Thank you so much!!! I am totally stealing your idea. I will post pictures when I am done. Thanks again.

QOTD: Do you make special room requests or decorate your room windows?

When we stay at the Poly, we stay Cl TPV so it really doesn't matter to me. I just normally take what they give us.

As to staying at POFQ, not sure what to request. On my girls trip last September, I just booked a standard room. It was in building 3 at the end of a hall on the first floor. It was a great location.

For this trip out TA booked us a Garden View, and I really don't care where they put us since the resort is so small. I had considered changing to a river view but i am afraid the boat horns would bother us.

We have never decorated in the past, but I may try it this time at POR w/ some Princess Tiana decals or if I could find brer Rabbit etc., that may be neat to do!

As for requests, the nearest to main house w/o paying for preferred, close to a quiet pool and a bus stop!! ya think Im asking for too much?!:rotfl:

I do always make building requests. We are staying at CBR and that resort is too huge to risk getting stuck waaaay far from the main building. Since we're standard view, I requested buildings 45, 46, 51, 52. I figured by requesting 4 buildings I'm bound to get one of them!

I usually don't have very many requests for the room. If I do, it's always regarding location. For example when we stayed at OKW last summer we didn't have a car and I wanted to be able to walk to Hospitality House if we could so we asked for a room within walking distance. They found us a good one:)

For this trip we'll be at AoA and we can't decide which section we want so it's up in the air. I am thinking I want Lion King, but the girls want to stay in Cars so we'll see.

Allrighty.. I think we need a question of the day!:)

Who is the vacation enthusiast in your house? Are you all equally excited or some more than others? Do you do all the planning?

I'll answer my own question. I am the planner for sure. I am the one that puts it all together and brings it to the table for discussion. The kids get ridiculously excited as it gets a little closer (a month or two away) but I am excited 6 months out:rolleyes1
Dh on the other hand is a low key guy about pretty much everything. He doesn't get excited until it's almost time to go. And even then it's "Boy I can't wait for vacation to start".
He doesn't ask for much. When he does I make sure to try and make it happen. He may request a certain resort or restaurant but not much else. Just a generally easy going personality.
He has however requested to go to Banff and the Rockies next summer for our big trip instead of Disney. I am excited about trying something else:)

Our planning is generally a joint exercise. DW does all of the logistical planning (e.g., reservations for hotel/flight/car) while I do the in-park planning (e.g., touring plans, schedule, ADRs). We get input from the kids on what attractions they want to see and where they want to eat, and just incorporate that into our planning.

The whole family gets excited when we book, and super excited the last few weeks. DW and I stay pretty excited during the entire period, talking about our plans, tweaking things, coming up with ideas, making decisions on things like what kind of bag to carry, and generally discussing Disney on a near-daily basis. We're hyper-planning Disney nerds!

Of course, our justification is that we are spending what to us is a great deal of money, so we want to get absolutely as much value out of our trip as we can - meaning we want to plan for everything contingency! Once we're there, though, we roll with the punches and use our touring plan as the framework for our day, adjusting it as needed.

My mom and I are both the vacation enthusiasts in my house. All we pretty much do is talk about Disney and plan Disney vacations!
We have been counting down from 200 days for our upcoming August trip (49 days until we leave !).

Well I do most of the planning. DH will give input when asked. This surprise August trip was his idea. Dh only likes to stay the Poly, and since this was an unplanned trip, I gave him some info about the different moderates.

As to ADR's. Normally the whole family has input. For this trip DH said ok to anything as long as Biergarten was on the list.

Our trip that will be September 2013, the kids will get to help decide which ADR's to choose,

Change "kids" to "kid" and you have my answer as well.

Far as my DH goes, the way to his heart is through his stomach. As long as he's well fed on vacation, he is willing to go anywhere and do anything :rotfl: . Earlier this week, I tentatively tossed out the idea of a Christmas week getaway to SeaWorld in lieu of a traditional Christmas at home, and he gave me the (very patient) look that said "my dear Gina, we haven't even left for our August trip and you're already planning another?"...followed by the spoken statement "Sure thing babe, book away!" (he is a wonderful man  ... he really will do anything if it makes me happy.....yet being married 19 years allows me to read those unspoken sentiments written all over his face). Sensing the hesitation noted in "the look", I noted that another trip would allow us additional meals at his American favourites (Olive Garden and TGI Fridays). He grinned and told me that I didn't have to bribe him, that he was on board....but if I felt the "need" to bribe, he'd also like another Chili's meal :lmao: .

DS loves to travel. He shares my excitement but not until much closer to our departure date (he's just starting to get keyed up about August). Though I must say, he's been asking every day if I have booked the Christmas trip (which I have not.......what the heck is stopping me anyway?!?). But then again, he dreads the family Christmas at his paternal grandparents (we all do for that matter :rolleyes1 ) so that certainly stimulates some early excitement!!!

Thats me for sure. DH wants to be spontaneous. Its hard enough to get him to say where he wants to go he always says wherever makes me happy:love: Ods gets super excited too, yds is learning

We are all excited about all of our trips, but I think I may be the one that gets a twee bit more excited then the others (I love watching my ticker go down each day). I am constantly on the DIS boards and other Disney sights checking out things to do that we could possibly add into our vacation plans. My DH loves to plan out the meals along with our kids, of course I have my say in some :goodvibes. However, it is a mutual decision on where we are going to stay, but for how many days and what parks we are doing on what day is a decision that DH and I talk about.
The funny thing is, I am such a planner when it comes to our Disney vacations, that if I don't have anything to plan (if I am done planning and just counting down the days until we leave) for, I go stir crazy and feel like a part of me is missing :rotfl:.

Just booked this morning! CBR for August 22-28. Can't wait to check out the resort we usually stay at Pop. Haven't told the kids yet. Hehe this should be fun!

Welcome! We'll overlap just a bit! I'll be at CBR too but checking out on the 23rd!

Are you in a standard room?? See my post on the previous page about building requests. CBR is HUGE and you want to try to get a good location!

We usually stay on site, but this is our first trip off site. Rented a vacation home.

Aug 6-13!

Driving, all 7 of us:upsidedow

So I missed the QOTD yesterday of : Who is the vacation enthusiast in your house? Are you all equally excited or some more than others? Do you do all the planning?

I am the enthusiast in my family but we all really get excited in the days leading up to the our arrival day. I am ALWAYS excited from the day I book our vacation until it is over. My kids get involved in helping plan the what we will do in the parks and some of the ADR's only if to tell us they would eat something from that menu. But if I show them too many menus at one time they turn on me. :lmao:. I just save them for another day to not overwhelm them with too much disney food at one time. :rotfl:

DH and I also make a list of places we would like to eat at that vacation and then chip away at that list as we decide what days we are in what parks and such (we don't do park hoppers- ASD son can't deal with park hopping).

I book everything, ok that is not exactly true. I will fess up... I call our travel agent and give her our list with everything on it and she does all the rest, including our ADRs. Love her!!! Shout out to Deanna. :cool1:

That's my story and I am sticking to it!:upsidedow
