:sad2:I'm going to have to cancel my August 2012 trip. I've been planning it for over a year, but I have to do the responsible thing and cancel.

But at least I can still plan for my 2 trips next year so I still have something to look forward to.

I will be following along with all of you for your trips and hope you all have an amazing time.

I'm so sorry to hear that:hug:

I'm glad you still have other trips to look forward too. Maybe you can plan something extra special since you had to reschedule!

Just found this thread and wanted to say that my family and I will be at Pop Century from Aug 12-18! Does anyone who has been during the summer before have any tips for dealing with the heat? This will be our first summer trip (all our others have been during January or April)

Sigh. Did you ever notice some days the trip just seems farther away than others? I can go a week or two and not really think about it and then all of a sudden I want to be in Disney RIGHT NOW!!!:rolleyes1

Today is one of those days I guess. DD's friend that is coming with us was over today so we showed her Disney things all day.
She is SO excited and it makes it so much more fun to bring a newbie with us! She actually said "I hope I don't annoy you when I act like an 8 year old all week". Ummm, no sweetie, in fact it's mandatory that we all act like 8 year olds:rotfl:

She even wants to bring an autograph book! She's 15 but has never gone to WDW. So I can't wait to see the excitement. She and dd were already making packing lists! It's going to be a wonderful trip!

Ds2's gf has only been once and that was just for 2 days. We are excited to take her.

Ooh I want to Join. :). I have had my trip planned since January. My countdown calendar started at 210 days and we are currently at 56 days.:cool1:

Welcome to the August thread!!:cheer2:

We usually have a question of the day which is fun to get to know everyone so make sure to keep coming back!
So you'll be there right at the start of the month! We aren't going until the end. I participated on another one of these threads and it was fun to read everyones "Just Back" mini reports while we waited for the end of the month to roll around!:)

QOTD: Do you make anything special for your trip?

I have done themed shirts for our family. One trip we were each a different character from Sleeping Beauty. And another trip we had t-shirts from Toy Story.

This trip, I am hoping to do 3 or 4 different movies for all of us. We shall see if funds and time allow. I order them online. They usually come in about 1 week.

I try to make some things each trip. I do a count down I poted about(fun facts on each that I started at 75 days) and Ill make shirts for the kids and some Resort logoed item. I did a tote bag last trip thanks to the creative Disigners here:wizard:

Can I join in? August 14th - 28th POFQ Its a family trip and a reunion with my boyfriend who I haven't seen for 4 months who is a CM, he lives in Orlando and i live in the UK so i'm so excited to see him again

We met at Disney when we were doing our college programs so its our special place :D

Oh my goodness, I haven't been on all weekend because it was my son's high school graduation. And then I come on and see all the great and creative ideas for my mousekeeping envelopes.
QUOTE=Victoriasmom98;45123997]I know there are some cute designs in the Creative Dis section of the boards.[/QUOTE]
I will be definitely checking into this today. Thanks

I took some of my designs from here on the dis but the others my brother and I made ourselves! :goodvibes

How absolutely adorable!

Hi!

I have made gratuity and mousekeeping envelopes for our last few trips, I used a template on Mouse Savers website, then found Disney character clip-art to decorate them :thumbsup2
oh my another website I have to check out, can't wait, thanks!

We found that the bell-hops & DME drivers seemed to really appreciate getting their tips in these little envelopes too :goodvibes

That's a great idea, and and I love the fact that I have a reason to make even more Disney envelopes, love it!!

Yep, totally understand having those days and then I say to myself, don't rush things because then before we know it we are back home, summer is over and kids are back in school. And then I say I don't care I need to be in DISNEY now having a dole whip and going on the POTCpirate:!!!!
Also it's funny because my 50 something year old brother is joining us for the first time and asking what he needs to wear so he fits in with us at Disney. I said well the sillier the better, and lots of Disney apparel.

My husband has agreed to leave a day earlier so we'll have another day in the parks! :yay: He told me over the weekend that he's expecting this to be my trip, and that we can do whatever I'd like. :goodvibes He's so good to me, I swear. So we're going from two 1-day base tickets each to a 4 day with park hopper. I made my kennel appointment for my dogs, and now I'm even more anxious for August to get here!

Good Morning TEAM AUGUST!:cheer2: I have not seen a QOTD today, so here's one to chew on~

Do you have your own vehicle (rented or owned) during your vacations or do you rely on WDW transportation?

My answer--WDW Transport. We know its not perfect but it works for us and its nice not to have to hassle w traffic and parking~Especially after a Lapu-Lapu at The Poly :rotfl:

We usually used ME and Disney transportation. We rented a van for 10 days for our last trip and as long as the prices are right, I will never go back to Disney transport. Don't get me wrong, I think Disney does a fantastic job with their transportation but it was just much better to come and go exactly as we pleased and shave a lot of time off every time we went somewhere.
For example we drove to DTD in 5 minutes. One day DH and Ds had the van so dd and I took the bus. We waited for a half hour and it took 35 minutes to get back to the resort with all the stops.

We used ME and Disney transportation exclusively on our 2009 trip. For a first visit to Orlando, it worked well and we were glad we didn't have the stress of driving.

Our second Orlando vacation was offsite (Universal, Islands of Adventure, Discovery Cove, SeaWorld, and I-Drive attractions) and we had a rental car. We loved  having a vehicle at our disposal and the freedom of going where and when we pleased. Renting was easy-peasy (pick up and drop off) and cheap (we paid $68 taxes in for a Chevy HHR). So successful was the experiment that DH vowed we would never be without a car in Orlando again, even if we were to stay onsite again at some point in the future.

We have a rental secured for this upcoming trip as well. We enjoy throwing in some new stuff each trip, so this time, the rental car will be essential for our beach day (either Cocoa or Daytona). Now that the boys have had their taste of the freedom a rental car allows, I don't think they would be happy staying on property 100% of the time on a week-long trip. They are "explorers" and a rental car would be something we just automatically budget for.

We rely only on WDW Transportation!! With two kids still in carseats and both DH and I HATE driving places where we have no idea where we're going....it's so nice to hop a bus and just ride!

We send DH to pick up the rental while the kids and I take the ME. After that we drive everywhere but MK. It's much easier to take the bus there.

QOTD: Do you make anything special for your trip - custom t-shirts, autograph books, treat bags for trip there or in hotel, etc?

I didn't make anything for our first trip. For our second I made DS a autograph book and a passport for the WS in Epcot.
This time I'm planning on making tshirts for the kids but I'm not sure if I'll have the time of money for anything else.

We have always rented a vehicle because we've always stayed offsite. Even if we stayed onsite I'd want to have a rental so we could do a beach day during our stay.

We typically drive down to Orlando, but even when we fly, I always get a rental car. I still have family and friends in the area, so to visit them, a car is a must. Next Jan/Feb I'm going to be heading down to Orlando again to do some research for my travel agency (4 day WDW + 3 day Disney Cruise), and I'm going to strictly use Disney transportation and Disney resources on that trip.
