August 2011

We are booked for Aug 10 thru 18th at ASMu family suite, 6 of us, my 16y/o is working all summer and doesn't want to come along :confused3

We are driving down also because airfare for 6 is just crazy! :scared1:

We got the QS free dining pin and upgraded to ddp for the trip. We are going to surprise the kids, if we didn't do it that way they would be crazy asking us every day when we were leaving and the 14hr car ride would require my ipod! We are telling them that we are going camping and dont plan to tell them any different till we drive past the WDW sign!

I got ours last month. I was waiting and waiting on AirTran or SW to drop, but they were just going up and up. We usually pay around $650-$725 rt for all 4 of us. It was running around $1000+ this time. Someone on the DIS mentioned booking her flights with her WDW package and how it was cheaper that way. I knew I had priced them out with my packages in the past and they were always exactly the same as what the airlines were offering, but I thought what the heck and called WDW anyway. They were able to book us on AT for a total of $830 rt for the 4 of us. Not as good as what we are used to, but still better than over $1000. So I am happy with that. We sure didn't want to have to drive!

That is a great rate! Where in PA are you from? We are a little south of Pittsburgh

Ok so I thought last time I posted it was over 180 days....yes it sure was...March 25th of last year I had 249 days to go! Today, this year, it's muuuuuch less than that...and I know it will go by quickly!

We decided to drive too. This should be interesting...:scared1:

We are going the same day! What part of NJ are you leaving from? We are in Monmouth Co., near the beach!

Wow! That's great! :cool1:

Wish I could find a fare like that out of the NJ/NY area. :worship:

Are you looking at leaving from newark?

I have a friend who always flys on Spirit out of Atlantic City, she joined the $9 club and has booked trips for as little as $50 per person round trip! My DH says if he has to get up and drive as far as AC he might as well drive the whole way:confused3!

Forgot to mention our trip info.

Beach Club, 8/23-8/29 on the dining plan. All of our ADR's are made!!

Our end of summer, right before school starts trip for the kids!!

Pop, 8/19-8/27. Thanks

Booked August 20-27 at the Shades of Green Resort. Had originally planned to stay at AKL, but made plans with my sister, who will be returning home from Afghanistan in August for a grand celebration. What other way to celebrate a homecoming than going back :yay:home to Disney:cool1::banana:

We locked in about the end of Feb. My dad was researching flights for a NOLA trip in May. He said in one week, both NOLA and MCO went up $30-40.

We got about $250 each on United. We are AA faithful, but times and prices were better on UA out of O'Hare. SW out of Midway was more $ and costs us way more to travel to by cab. The difference has to be significant to justify SW.

Last year, we did miles and cash tickets two weeks out (but last minute trip). Don't have confidence in waiting this year. Gas prices are getting too high.

(And I wanted to see my ticker :) )

Bought ours a month ago from Delta.

8/23-8/29. $1,000 r/t for the 4 of us from Boston, non-stop both ways.

7:00 am down and 6:00 pm back.

We usually fly Jet Blue but the prices were outrageous for some reason. They are normally the lowest price, especially direct.

J

I use to fly Jetblue all the time but the last three years the prices have been so much higher than other carriers. Unless you want to travel one month out or less Jetblue is not cheap.

We locked in our flights out of Rochester back in January with the fear that fuel prices were going to keep climbing higher and sure enough they are and the airlines are passing along the increases.

Even so even high airline prices can't damper our family trip to WDW!

Believe it or not, I am trying to post photos for the first time!:scared1: As we are under 150 days, the kids got really excited to make a countdown chain. It has 149 links and you will see Mickey heads hanging down. They are hung on every Wednesday to countdown the weeks.:thumbsup2

Ok. So now how do I make them smaller!:confused3

Thanks.

Kelly

Too cute!

Thanks for adding us. We bought our airfare for around $200, our price point, a few weeks before the bottom dropped out of the market. Today, Farecast.com says to wait to purchase airfare for our time period. Is this a sign that airfare prices will come down?

Airfare is the worst right now flying out of SFO. I managed two round trip tickets for DS and I for $721; Delta going and SW on the return. If I had not done that, we would have been paying $900+. Airlines like AA wanted over $1200:scared1::scared1: Anywho, we are counting down the days. I am on break from school this week so I am getting to do much more planning:surfweb:

Drive down August 13 - stay off-site since we won't get there until late evening.
August 14th-18th - POFQ

So excited about out trip!! We had not planned to go back until May 2012. Our boys have no idea we're going. We aren't planning to tell them until we drive over the FL state line at which time I'll put on my Mickey ears and tell them we're heading back to see Mickey!!

Today, our oldest son found a mailing that was sent to us several days ago with a Free Dining Pin and asked me "What is thiiiis"? I told him we received the offer in the mail, but that we weren't able to use it this year (not a lie...we aren't going during those dates). He said "I know. I sure wish we were. I love that place". I got teary eyed knowing how excited he and his brother are going to be when they find out.
