Hello all--

We were at Disney today which would explain my absence from the Dis Board and this thread.

We had lunch at Olivia's at Old Key West and then went to Disney-MGM for the afternoon/evening. Got home about an hour ago and now I'm ready for bed!

I'll update the site tomorrow with the new info I received today from a couple of cruisers.

Till then, good night all!

Jason

That did it, I'm officially jealous now, LOL!!! My mom will soon be moving to the Deland, FL area(one hour north of WDW), once she gets moved in, we will be making more trips to Florida, giving us more chances to get to "WDW" and "Dixie Crossroads" during the year. There, I feel better now, LOL!!!
:hyper:

About Disney! It's second best!

Ok so not the same as going there! But it'll have to do for now!LOL

Panama Canal Factiod ~ The Famous Cucaracha Slide kept delaying the Canal's completion.

Have a great day everybody!

I also got a supply of Mickey Heads!

Sorry, offline too much again! I have to revisit the Bobby Sherman & David Cassidy pics! We weren't stupid when we were young-- they were good looking! What about David Soul? Anyone watch that Here Come the Brides show on TV way back when?

Bought my formal dress for the cruise this weekend. Found a deal I couldn't pass up! Anyone else looking at lots of cotton or linen clothes for this trip? I'm thinking it's going to be really HOT!

We are waiting for the rain to stop again so that my son can play the last baseball tournament game for the season! Hope to get it in a 1:00 today!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Jason, I'm totally jealous. Andy, I'll be totally jealous in the future.

I won't be buying a formal this early - don't want to be able to fit into it still next summer (trying to lose a TON of weight). As for the cotton/linen stuff, I'm actually looking at getting some stuff from Lands End that has SPF50 built right into the clothing (I burn waaaay too easy). :teeth:

All I could think then was the Cha Cha Slide and I kept picturing all the people working on it being too busy trying to master this dance to do their work!

Can anyone tell me what the heck is the Cucaracha Slide?

I too, like Rose-Greenthumb, thought it was a dance at first. Giggled at the thought of canal workers dancing!!

I also thought "la cucaracha" meant cockroach in spanish?

I am soooo confused!!

P.S. Check out my countdown timer!!! Just 3 more days!!!

If memory serves me, the slide was essentially one (the biggest) of a series of landslides that ocurred during the construction. The proportions of clay were such that minor changes in water content vastly influenced the ability to hold a steep wall angle. The onset of rain would turn the walls 'fluid' and they would cave in and fill the excavation.

I sound like an engineer, huh?

-Pete

Wow!! I am impressed Pete!! That is very informative and just perhap, you WERE an engineer in some past life.

I am really enjoying the "tips of the day". Haven't had the opportunity to get the books you all have suggested. These cliff notes are helpful!!

:D
Actually I am an engineer - I vaguely remember talking about this in class at one point.

Have a great trip and be sure to tell us about it when you return!

-Pete

Lynda have a great cruise. Enjoy the weather and eat and drink whenever and wherever you want.
Pete another engineer...why'd it have to be engineers? What kind are you? Mine is a Chem. E. or was, he's supposed to be retired, now he does financial things for our daughters' day care centers.
Off to get pizza for dinner. Later, Estelle

The biggest problem with a thread of 123 pages is finding info that was mentioned before. Someone (Ivanova??) mentioned a place to buy tuxedos online and I can't find the post. :(

Can anyone repost that link? Thanks! Want to start shopping for October's cruise!!

nope, not me :( Although I'd be interested too (for DH) :)

Did anybody else have trouble getting onto the board today? When I clicked on the DIS link in my Favorites on AOL, what showed up was a picture of a burning US flag backwards from the ANTI-USA movement. I couldn't access the DIS. I finally got here by going to the DIS sponsor site and clicking on the forum link. I e-mailed Regina to let her now so she could alert Pete Werner. Some sickos got onto the website and hacked it!

I saw the same thing when I tried to link to different places on the DIS. D**m hackers!

Just checking in! I think we'll be more into this cruise when we return from our next trip!

We went to Sturbridge Village today. When Victoria found out it was in Massachusettes, she thought she was going to bump into her friend Mary, from the cruise! I explained it was unlikely, but I caught her checking out kids all day.

We had a great time! It reminded me of Williamsburg, VA. It was a great day to walk around and learn about history.

When August comes, I hope to be able to consider more options for airfare, hotels and the like. I love planning and would never want to hand all of the details over to an agent.

Would I bet nuts to consider flying into Las Vegas, hanging around for a couple of days, then driving to DL? I don't think I'll be planning a Vegas trip in the near future and thought I might want to add it in.

I wasn't a Bobby Sherman fan, but I sure did love Shawn Cassidy for awhile. In fact, he was my first music concert experience. I was a HUGE Bay City Rollers Fan! WOOHOO saw 'em on Merve Griffin!

My top 3 Wishes for Celebs on our Cruise (in no particular order)

David Ducovany, Richard Gere, John Stamos

Did everyone get their Father's Day shopping done?

Have a fabulous week everyone.

I just did a search, I can't find anything about online. However, if you go to www.chilbert.com you can find some good info. I have used them in the past for DHs and DSs Tuxes and formal shirts.
