Mel and Bob--so sorry to hear the sad news. I can't even relate to what you are feeling now but you are in my thoughts and prayers..........

I can't walk in these darn shoes anymore but I'm sure you are more coordinated than I am!

Mel, Bob and the entire Walsh family - our deepest sympathies to you during this difficult time.

Where is everyone? I feel like this thread has been deserted this afternoon. :guilty:

Sorry Kmiles! I was working today! Who'dathunkit, huh? :rotfl2: Been REALLY busy. My supervisor is in New Orleans this week and we have a bunch of big projects to do. One of my stellar employees called in sick today (no, not the new guy). It makes the day go fast when there's lots to do, but I also feel like I haven't gotten enough accomplished. Oh well.

I thought this was the new style that the Sisterhood was into nowadays:

:rotfl2: You'd never catch me in shoes like that! I have enough trouble walking in sneakers....I'm always tripping on "bumps" in the carpet...

I do hope to find some nice strappy heels for the cruise, but I need to get them soon so I can practice walking in them.

Sincere condolences from our family to Melinda's family. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. We were all hoping for a miracle.

I feel I need to tell all of you this....I tend to avoid a lot of the "sympathy" posts. Nothing to do with not feeling bad for the people involved, it's just that it hits too close to home for me (especially Mel's right now). See, my Grandmother (who I was VERY close to) was diagnosed with leukemia (burkitt's lymphoma - a very rare form of ALL) in early January 2004. She started chemo and did 3 of the 5 scheduled doses (burkitt's is treated with a very agressive therapy because it spreads very quickly). It put her in the ICU and on a ventilator. That was the hardest thing I've had to see - my Grandmother (the strongest member of my family) - looking so weak. She made it out of that, but the doctors figured she'd just want to go home for her final days. She opted for more chemo (her thought was "what choice do I have"). The second round only lasted for 2 doses before it put her in the ICU again.

My brother made it home just after that (he was stationed on the USS Enterprise out at sea). She was semi-alert while he was home. She died February 19, 2004, just 3 days after my brother headed back home to VA Beach (he had to be back for the Navy). She started going downhill right after he left.

My mom, her brother and sister had to make the decision to take her off the ventilator. The entire family figures she was waiting for my brother to get home so she could say goodbye. It was (and still is) the hardest thing I've had to deal with. She's the only person I've lost that I was close to.

I just felt I had to explain why I don't typically post my sympathies or encouragment. Please know that I am thinking of anyone that's going through tough times, it's just too hard for me to deal with my own thoughts..... :(

Thanks for listening.

Jenny, I believe everyone has their reasons for what they do and don't do when it comes to grieving. Don't sweat it. I really believe positive thoughts are very helpful!

Very sad time for the family. Prayers go out for strength  Hugs going out for comfort :grouphug:

To the entire Walsh family: Our deepest heartfelt sympathy on your loss. I hope the wonderful memories that you have of her help you in your time of grief. God bless.

Jenny, I can relate and I understand the avoidance. I was extremely close to an uncle when I was a child and his loss still brings me to tears 36 years later! Thanks for sharing your story though.

Sending our thoughts and prayers to the entire Walsh Family as they cope with the loss of such a dear loved one. God bless.

Jenny I totally understand how you feel. My Mother died on Dec. 4, 1999 and my MIL died exactly 60 days later. We were expecting Moms', she had been in a nursing home for almost 5 years. But my MIL was a total shock. Everyone grieves in different ways. No way is right and no way is wrong. :grouphug:
