:rotfl2: :rotfl: Thanks for the memories, Jenny!

Lara was a "munchkin" in a local stage production of the Wizard of Oz last year - we spent WEEKS hearing her sing "He is, he is, he is the Wiz, if ever a Wiz there was!" That whole song turned into a tongue twister for her with missing front teeth! :teeth:

Prayers and pixie dust to all who need them this week. As Scratch said, we'll hope this week brings better days.

Arlene

Dan :grouphug: Sorry I wasn't on yesterday to pass on my wishes for a speedy recovery. Hopefully the surgery went well -- and as Janet & Estelle said -- don't foget the donut. My brother Paul had on removed several years ago... and used his for a couple of weeks.

Robin -- figured that would be a good picture of us -- from our second cruise. But can you guess who is who (Hint -- my parents jinxed me with my initials :earboy2: ).

Alan -- loved your philosophy -- I agee with it. We are all an extended family now.

Oh - gotta get back to work. :badpc: :badpc:

Happy Birthday Denine!!!

Happy 7th Birthday (a day late though) Conner - Winnyis DS

:bday: :cake: :thewave:  :cheer2:

I found this little blurb at CruiseBlogger.com and thought I would share it with you all.

* From the big bucks department: When you deal in numbers of passengers that cruise lines do any little thing you do for every passenger can have a major financial impact. For example, one passenger on a ship where there was a small operational issue told us he thought it was "ridiculous" that the cruise line wouldn't give the passengers $50 onboard credit because of situation. The ship had more than 3,000 passengers on it. That totals $150,000. Even though that's only a miniscule portion of the company's annual profit, what middle-level manager at your company would want to authorize a $150,000 worth of drinks for customers just on the possibility that it may make them feel better about the company - especially knowing that the more often this is done, the more often it will be expected? These figures balloon even larger when you think about what cruise lines pay for ships. Just today, Royal Caribbean announced they would pay $230,000 per berth for their third Freedom-class ship. $230,000 in and of itself is a huge pile of money, but imagine multiplying that by 3,600 units. That comes to $828,000,000. Who can really imagine that much money? Or writing a check for it?

Just thought it interesting!

Does anyone know generally how the seas are in August for the Pacific Ocean portion of our cruise? Also does anyone know which ports will require us to go through the pesty immigration process?
Hi, from the last time I cruised from the Caribbean to the Pacific all I can say there was a real noticeable change. Whilst we had reasonable weather in the Pacific no storms etc. so see, the sea was always very rough, and from the stern of the ship you could see the ship go up and down a very high pitch.

Most ships cruise the Caribbean as most of the time this sea is glass like and easy to cruise, I might have been unlucky, but the whole trip from Panama to LA via Acapulco and Cabo the sea was very active.

Immigration is a difficult one as being from the UK we had to go through the process more often.

On Princess cruises, the USA Immigration officers can on at Cabo, and on the last sea day before LA they undertook all of the passport checking with different times for USA residents and non residents as well as customs.

I presume Cabo and Acapulco will require just the one on the first entry, as they are both Mexico, But hopefully most people will be considered in transit so it will be simple, Curacao, and Castaway hopefully will also be simple.

The arrival at Florida and USA customs is likely to be the strictest.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. And to think, Cold Stone Creamery is giving out free cake, just for my birthday! We are going out to eat at the Macaronni Grill for dinner.

It has finally stopped snowing and the sun is out so maybe all this weird white stuff will go away.

I was a Lullaby Girl in the Wizard of Oz in high school.

Happy birthday to Amy, Denine and Conner.

Cold stone, doubt there are any here, but I am going to look.

Jenny, my DH was scared to death of the flying monkeys when he was a wee lad!

Got 5 more payments in over the weekend. We are getting there!

Talked to my mother last night, she is quite excited. She got her eticket for her flight, Delta put her on a 6:45 am flight. She was booked on a 9:45 am. The traveling agent got it changed for free. Yea!!! She has told all her brothers and sister about the trip, they all think it is great. SHe is getting her passport renewal done today, it expires in May, so she felt better to have it than not. She wants to know what clothes to bring. I told her we had to wait untill our friends disembark in LA. She doesn't realize she needs to call during the day so as DH won't overhear.

Guess what, Carnival pays their ships off in 9 months from inaugural sailing. But I do agree, cruise lines don't have to give passengers anything save for what the contract of passage calls for. The most I have ever gotten from any cruise line was the invite to leave Miami from the bridge once. And one room upgrade on a less than 1/2 sold out ship. No booze credit. No special gifts. I am looking forwar to the Castaway Club gift this time. If there is anything else, It will just be the icing on the cake!

That's great news, Dan. I'm so glad that you are home and doing well. Rest up, Dan, we need you in tip top form for our "Fools" cruise. Take care, Dan.

Finally booked our flights!

One less thing to do! :flower:

Glad to hear all went well with the surgery, Dan. Now it's just time to rest! Maybe your manager will give you 116 paid days off for recovery?

:flower: DAN:

Just caught up on this weekend's threads and wanted to wish you a very speedy recovery. Glad to hear that you didn't have to stay overnight. Get lots of rest (you've earned it) and do everything the doctor says! :grouphug:
