Not a good sign. The new guy (who started yesterday) hasn't shown up to work yet. It's 9:48, we start at 8. No phone call or anything. I couldn't have scared him away that quickly....could I???? I guess no new lacky for me.

Jenny, you didn't bombard him with jokes on his first day, did you? Some men (wimps) are intimidated by women with a sturdy sense of humour. Keep us updated. I love office behaviours - all human life is within one small building.

I was picking on one of the other guys in the office (nothing new there).....Maybe it was the conversations I had....with myself . No worries though, he did call and leave a message with someone in the office (who didn't check their voice mail until about 45 minutes ago). Apparently his cat was injured or something and he had to take it to the vet. His message said he'd be in by 9:30 though (it's currently 11:47). Not sure what to think.

I don't really doubt anything happened to his cat. Most of the people that work here know his Mom (I work for an engineering firm and she works for the department of public works in one of the cities we do work for), so I doubt he's lieing. We just think it's kind of funny because we used to have a guy that worked here that would show up AT LEAST 45 minutes late EVERY day and he always had some outrageous excuse (the neighbors cat spread the trash all over the yard, the neighbors parked their car blocking him in, etc.). I wish I had written them all down. I could have made a bunch of money publishing that book. Problem was, we couldn't fire him 'cause his wife worked there too and she was pretty well liked. Luckily I bugged him enough that he finally quit.

We just got back from HH over the weekend. Had a nice time.

OK, digital camera people, it's my turn for help. I want to get an underwater case for my Sony Cyber-shot DSC-F828. So far I have only found two of them. One is $900 that's almost as much as I paid for the camera.

The other is this one:

Ditto to what everyone else wrote Dan, especially Lynn & kmiles. I'm very sorry to hear that you had a bad chat experience. I was wondering where you've been on the thread. I for one love your sense of humor. I really think Lynn says it best - keep the high school stuff back in high school, we're ages past those day!!! I'm not in chat as often as I'd like, but I'd sure like to "see" you there and here again. Hugs to you, miss you friend!

Dan: I agree with everyone else. I haven't done chat yet, but I'm sorry the experience got spoiled for you by someone. Sometimes even on the boards things can come across as harsh or curt -- but it's hard to express inflection in writing. Hope you don't get discouraged to ever post again. That would be sad

I did no such thing! I don't even talk about the cruise. They just don't understand how two adults with no children can go to Disney and go on DCL so many times and not be bored. They just don't get it....

I have an underwater instamatic. I don't know if film is even made for them anymore! We used it in the Bahamas once, took 7 rools of film in one afternoon.

I do know that the cases are expensive, If I was to go snorkeling, I would look into either getting film for my existing camera or purchasing another underwater cheapy one. Mainly because I wouldn't uses it very often.

Jenny, stay calm. He may never show up again. I on'y ever had that experience with contractors, not employees. Amazing that people have such a disregard for a companby that hired them to work. Maybe he knows the other guy, and got his excuse list!

That's why I'm not going with Option A. I can't see paying almost the same price for an underwater case as I did for the camera.

Actually, I'm thinking about getting the case to protect the camera from splashes when we go to the waterpark and aquarium. It will be a plus if I can take it in the water to take pictures.

Looking at what you've shown is really a "universal bag" for different types of cameras. I know I looked for my small digital and it was around $280. It was made by Canon for my specific camera. The Sony you have is an odd shaped configuration, which makes it much more difficult to make a waterproof case, looking at the photos of it.

I tend to agree with Robin. I'd sure want something that is foolproof, and guaranteed that if it craps out on you your $1000 camera is covered.
I think I'd probably only go for an actual "Sony" brand waterproof housing if there is one out there specifically made for your DSC-F828. I looked on the Sony site and could only find them for the smaller point and shoots. Good luck.
