Canadians have until the 30th!

And us Brits have to have ours done by 5th April.

Not got to all the end of the posts yet, but best wishes from us all here to Mel and Bob.

Tracy, as always, an awesome newsletter. What would we do without you? And thanks also for every other thing that you do and your kind thoughts and deeds.

Allan is away now for a week in Seattle and BC, he is sorting out things for Marsha and for Tracy's appeal. Times like these, we wish we were closer.

Unfortunately, winter returned here yesterday. We had four inches of the white stuff, very localised, but caught us on the hop. We had no roads gritted and all the flights were delayed. Allan was over two hours delayed from Island to Manchester and then had to run between terminals to catch his onward flight to Chicago. His Manchester flight was also delayed so he was then put on a later flight from Chicago to Seattle. I think in all he probably had a 28 hour journey!

Happy Sunday to all. I'm lonely today and wish you were all closer so I could invite you round for coffee and lunch!

I'm so new to all of this.
My first Disney Cruise and I'm so excited. (mybe a new song)
My name is Joyce, better known as Pata. I live in Southern California in the City of Orange. This all started as a dream trip for my family and I to take a Disney Cruise in 2006. But when my daugher found out the Magic would be in SC we could wait no longer. My best friend, Carole, better known as Pita and I will be fellow passengers on the "Ship of Cools". My Daughters' and Grandaughter's will be on the Magic 07/23/05 for the week Mexico Trip.
I would like some help in picking a good place to stay for a few night in Florida - I know it will be Labor Day w/e. We will be 4 - two couples staying and maybe going to DW too.
Thanks for any help I can get. Hopefully I will learn how to abbreviate while on this dis-board.
Disney Pata :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :cloud9:

Does this mean with have a pita pata on board? I do hope its not the pitter patter of tiny feet!!!

Welcome Joyce and Carole - nice to meet you.

Hello everyone!!

First of all, thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. That meant so much to Bob and I. Thank you Tracy, for posting the updates, and thank you Sandy for phone calls. We visit my MIL 3 times a day for about an 1 1/2 hr each visit. This afternoon she had her eyes open but stared in space. Tonight, she was sleeping again. The Dr told us that she had the worst stroke a person could have and it was even a miracle that she survived. This had been so hearbreaking for all of us since she is the "strong" one of the family. It tough to see her lying there with a ventilator tube in her mouth. My MIL is like a mother to me. i am much closer to her than a typical daughter in law. Patience is the name of the game to see what happens each day. She does make some faces when talking to her esp from my FIL. It is also tough to see him go thru this as well. it is so weird to stay here at their house and not hear mom's voice here. My BIL from GA flew today as well as other family are here.

HUGS!!!
Melinda

.

This must be so difficult for all of you Mel. How is Bob coping? Your MIL sounds like she is a wonderful woman. It's very difficult to understand what you are all going through, but Allan and I send our very best wishes to all your family.

It's been a while since I posted this, so for all the newcomers:

I bought something really cool, what I came across was a 100,000-volt, pocket/purse-sized Tazer gun with a clip. For those of you who are not familiar with this product, it is a less-than-lethal stun gun with two metal prongs designed to incapacitate an assailant with a shock of high-voltage, low amperage electricity while you flee to safety. The effects are supposed to be short lived, with no long-term adverse affect on your assailant, but allowing you adequate time to retreat to safety. You simply jab the prongs into your 250 lb. Tattooed assailant, push the button, and it will render him a slobbering, goggle-eyed, muscle-twitching, whimpering, pencil-neck geek. If you've never seen one of these things in action, then you're truly missing out--way too cool!

Long story short, I bought the device and brought it home. I loaded two triple-a batteries in the darn thing and pushed the button. Nothing!
I was so disappointed. Upon reading the directions (we don't need no stinkin' directions), I found much to my chagrin that this particular model would not create an arch between the prongs. How disappointing! I do love fire for effect. I learned that if I pushed the button, however, and pressed it against a metal surface that I'd get the blue arch of electricity darting back and forth between the prongs that I was so looking forward to. I did so. Awesome!!! Sparks, a blue arch of electricity, and a loud pop!!! Yipeeeeee . . I'm easily amused, just for your information, but I have yet to explain to Sandy what that burn spot is on the face of her microwave.

Okay, so I was home alone with this new toy, thinking to myself that it couldn't be all that bad with only two triple-a batteries, etc., etc. There I sat in my recliner, my cat Gracie looking on intently (trusting little soul), reading the directions (that would be me, not Gracie) and thinking that I really needed to try this thing out on a flesh and blood target. I must admit I thought about zapping Gracie for a fraction of a second and thought better of it. She is such a sweet kitty, after all. But, if I was going to give this thing to Sandy to protect herself against a mugger, I did want some assurance that it would work as advertised. Am I wrong? Was I wrong to think that? Seemed reasonable to me at the time.

So, there I sat in a pair of shorts and a tank top with my reading glasses perched delicately on the bridge of my nose, directions in one hand, Tazer in another. The directions said that a one-second burst would shock and disorient your assailant; a two-second burst was supposed to cause muscle spasms and a loss of bodily control; a three-second burst would purportedly make your assailant flop on the ground like a fish out of water. All the while I'm looking at this little device (measuring about 5" long, less than 3/4 inch in circumference, pretty cute really, and loaded with two itsy, bitsy triple-a batteries) thinking to myself, "no friggin' way!" Friggin' way--trust me, but I'm getting ahead of myself.

What happened next is almost beyond description, but I'll do my best. Those of you who know me well have got a pretty good idea of what followed. I'm sitting there alone, Gracie looking on with her head cocked to one side as to say, "don't do it buddy," reasoning that a one-second burst from such a tiny lil' ole thing couldn't hurt all that bad (sound, rational thinking under the circumstances, wouldn't you agree? ).

I decided to give myself a one-second burst just for the heck of it. (Note: You know, a bad decision is like hindsight—always twenty-twenty. It is so obvious that it was a bad decision after the fact, even though it seemed so right at the time. Don't ya hate that?) I touched the prongs to my naked thigh, pushed the button, and HOLY (blank) DAaaaauuuuuuMN!!! I'm pretty sure that Jessie Ventura ran in through the front door, picked me up out of that recliner, then body slammed me on the carpet over and over again.

I vaguely recall waking up on my side in the fetal position, nipples on fire, testicles nowhere to be found, soaking wet, with my left arm tucked under my body in the oddest position. Gracie was standing over me making meowing sounds I had never heard before, licking my face, undoubtedly thinking to herself, "do it again, do it again!" (Note: If you ever feel compelled to mug yourself with a Tazer, one note of caution. There is no such thing as a one-second burst when you zap yourself. You're not going to let go of that thing until it is dislodged from your hand by a violent thrashing about on the floor. Then, if you're lucky, you won't dislodge one of the prongs 1/4" deep in your thigh like yours truly.) SON-OF-A-GUN that hurt!

A minute or so later (I can't be sure, as time was a relative thing at this point), I collected my wits (what little I had left), sat up and surveyed the landscape. My reading glasses were on the mantel of the fireplace. How did they get there??? My triceps, right thigh and both nipples were still twitching. My face felt like it had been shot up with Novocain, as my bottom lip weighed 88 lbs. give or take an ounce or two, I'm pretty sure.

By the way, has anyone seen my testicles? I think they ran away. I'm offering a reward. They're round, rather large, kinda hairy, and handsome if I must say so myself. Miss 'em . sure would like to get 'em back.

Had tears in my eyes for 20 minutes

Mark - it's just after 4am - I'm lying here in my hotel bedroom in Seattle having had a short but great sleep after about 21 hours of travelling - it's what always happens when we do long haul - I switch on the Dis board via the free WiFi here - head for the latest unread - and find your stunning story of how you used yourself as a crash dummy! NOt often that I laugh out loud at the boards - but, buddy, you sure can describe in graphic detail - and yes, I think I saw the missing objects flying past my 757 window, somewhere round about Spokane.

Thanks for a good laugh! They say the falsetto will ease off soon

A SISTERHOOD FIRST!!

Announcing a brand new on-board excursion for the Men!

In an effort to provide a comprehensive cruise experience for all the DHs, SOs and BFs, the SOF Sisterhood is proud to sponsor the Iron Man Competition!! We will be using the irons & ironing boards from the laundry rooms on deck 6 & 7 (and deck 2 if here is high demand) and have them set-up on secret deck 7 aft on a sea day in the 2nd week of the cruise. This will give you time to practice and strengthen your ironing arm for the intense competition. Here is a sample of the heated, cut-throat, testosterone-filled gamesmanship that will take place:

Iron_Man_Competition.gif

(thank you to Jazz, Grumbo, Mark, IzziBob & KMiles for posing for our sketch artist)

Red tank shirts with the Brotherhood Survivor Logo on the back are included in the sign-up fee. You must provide your own article of clothing to iron (and no sending it to the ship's laundry first for pressing!) Registration for this first-ever event will take place upon embarkation at Signals Bar on deck 9 and spaces are limited! Do this before getting Palo & Spa ressies so you don't miss getting your spot!!

The Sisterhood wants to see YOU on game day!

Great one Nancy!

I mentioned to some of you that I just got Skype internet phone. It's great! I got my first phone call this morning. Talked for a long time and never had problems with drops or gaps in coverage. Best of all, it's FREE! Free if you call other Skype users, about 2.3 cents a minute for land lines.

*******out of lurker mode for a moment*****

I just wanted to apologize to everyone that I have not been on here or chat recently.

Last night everyone asked if everything was OK, and I ansered that it was. However I owe it to many of you that I respect that indeed not everything is ok.

You see I work 10 hours a day in a very stressful job at times (I know everyone has one of those) and I used to love to come to chat and as a way to release my tension I would have fun, apparently my fun annoyed some of you and you had to go behind my back and talk about it instead of just telling me right up (Tracy thank you for having enough guts to talk to me!) I am sorry for ever saying anything that offended anyone-that was certainly not my intend, nor was I having an affair with anyone! See now my problem is I can't go into chat without wondering if I can act my self or rather I should just remain quite, and at times I feel I have gotten the cold shoulder form some of you.

I realize that not all of us will get along on the ship, however I will repect each of you and I just ask that you do the same with me. Talk to me about a problem instead of forming groups of intervention!

Sorry to dampen the mood!
Dan

*****back to lurking mode*****

Dan,

I just sent you a PM.

BTW - it was nice talking to you for a little while in chat last night.
