It is damn cold. We don't need the weather service to tell us. We had about 6 inches of snow today and it is about 3 degrees right now. It would have been nice if it did this on Friday night so Santa could bring his sleigh in more easily, but that's the breaks of the weather game.

I thought I'd drop in on you and mention something you may now know about. You'll have a very special guest on your trip, Donald 'Ducky' Williams, Disney character artist. He's on with us now, and announced he'll be on 9 cruises next year, including both repo's and the SS Member Cruise.

If you're not familiar with the name, you are certainly familiar with his work. The main gateway arch to WDW, the one with Mickey and Minnie on the sides, his. Tony's restarurant in MK? Completely his, from the design to the real paintings on the walls. His job is bacially to come up with the character art for just about anything WDW needs. The billboards down to the ticket stubs. And promotional art too. He has some great stories to tell, make time in your trip to attend his seminar, you will enjoy it thoroughly.

Great news! Thanks Mark.

During our cruise in May we had an Imagineer onboard and she did a couple of presentations. I was lucky enough to get my picture with her even though I didn't win anything she was raffling off.

Has anyone decided what they are doing for car rentals next year?

I am doing budget out of Long Beach airport and returning the day of the cruise they said they have a shuttle that takes you to San Pedro Terminal

Anyone else????

We haven't made any reservations yet but we'll probably go through our AAA agent if we do end up renting one.

We're just not sure if we will need to or not. We plan on flying into LA on Thursday, August 18th early morning (arriving by 9 or 10 AM) and spending Thursday and Friday at the parks. I've never been to the Disneyland Resort so I'm very excited about seeing them! Then, on Saturday morning, we'll just head to the port.

Not sure if having a car will be worth it although it might be fun to explore some of LA when we're not at the park!

Hi Carolsherman,

We've decided NOT to rent a car in Los Angeles. Since we're planning on just staying in the Disneyland area before the cruise, it seems easier to book an airline limo from LAX to take us to the Howard Johnson's. We'll take the bus Izzinmac is arranging from there to the Port.

We've booked from Budget in Port Canaveral, though for September 3. We're staying at WDW for one night before flying home.

Good luck with your planning!
Arlene

I hear you there we are arriving the 13th and was going back and forth about renting a car. If we did just tours etc it would cost a fortune and with a car I can come and go as I please my boys want to hit the beaches this time. We are going to Disney 3-4 day and universal at least 1 after that I have no idea

We are renting a car after the cruise boy was it expensive not sure what we are doing but I like having the freedom of my own car

Found it!

Info on the Holiday Inn San Pedro, that is. It's about 18 miles from Disney.

Which means with the LA Freeway traffic, 2 hours.........................

I know you will enjoy DLR. It isn't WDW and you can't compare the two, at least I don't think you should. DL is so much smaller than the Magic Kingdon, everything is so easy to get to. And CA has a great theme, great rides, and a really great night time parade.

If I wasn't going to be gone for almost a month, I would probably consider a couple of days aheads of time to visit there again.

I think so too! Being such a huge Disney fan it is horrible that I haven't visited Walt's original yet. I'm really excited to see some of the differences between Disneyland and The Magic Kingdom. See how things changed between the two parks.

And, your point about the traffic is a good one. Perhaps we'll skip the car and either stay closer to Disney or work something else out.

This is so great. He was on our October cruise and I got the litho that we got since we were on one of the special cruises to Antigua signed by him. Maybe we'll get a litho from that one too. Yippee.
