August 2, 2011 disney dream

It's our 105 day point. There are no palo brunches available to book online, they are all gone :sad2:

Lots of Palo and Remy dinner availability :thumbsup2

Hopefully you can get one onboard.

It seemed weird to me since we are traveling the cruise before this one that all the cabanas were gone before brunch and tea. It took a day or two before they all disappeared. I too noticed how many spots were available for dinner at Palo and Remy for both cruises. Who knows?

I'm finally going to throw our group into the mix. We have been booked on this cruise since it first came available but have other trips going on in between.

Our party includes:

Me - LeiLani
DD - Alyssa 15
Hopefully DD's friend also 15

We are in cabin 11002

DD - Brittany 22
DD's boyfriend - David 22

They are in cabin 8022

David's Dad - Lee
David's Mom - Angie

They are in cabin 11014

David's Brother - Michael 23
Michael's girlfriend - Theresa 22

They are in cabin 8072

Are you confused yet?

This will be my 10th DCL cruise. Brittany and David graduate from college next week so we will be celebratiing their graduation on this cruise. Brittany and David met on a Disney cruise in 2004 and our families have become great friends. We both own DVC and have been to WDW several times together and on several cruises including an 11-night Med cruise and 11-night Southern Caribbean this past Christmas. We are now looking forward to checking out the new ship.

Even though DD-Alyssa might be bringing a friend she would still like to "meet" some other teens before the cruise. She is on facebook so if you have a teenager and would like her information just PM me.

Hi Leilani,

Where in Iowa? Spent 2 years in Sioux city for graduate school.

Scooter

Hi Scooter,

We live in Cedar Falls. I love living here(except for the winters) but when DD graduates from high school in 3 years I have plans to move back to Florida.

I loved Iowa. I actually like the winters because out there you actually have seasons. Here in Maryland it can be snowing and the next rainy and 65.

Ok sorry I have not posted for a while I just had ankle surgery. ( I can hear Coachycp laughing as he has been carrying me with baseball and my son spent 2 nights over at his house so I could have some peace and quiet) Ankle will be good for WDW and DCL and that is all that matters at this point. 6 weeks left of school ugh. :teacher: Yes I know shut up as I have my summers off. :rolleyes1 Surgery was great as they are back into hey lets be nice for a couple of days. If you have high school kids you know what I am talking about. Anyway back to some important topics;

Big question here. We currently have 2 rooms on deck 7 forward with verandah. They are connecting. We had to do this as a result of the capacity issue. So kids in one Dw and I in the other. Category 5 B or C. We were just informed that we can switch to Cat. 4b on Deck 8 but they don't know stateroom assignement yet. It will save us around 500 bucks. I am questioning whether 500 bucks is worth moving to 1 stateroom and losing out on castaway club gifts and dvc gifts and the possibility of kids having a sleep over with our friends that are going as well..... Thoughts?: :confused3

I also just realized that I never answered my own question as to what character I would be most like: My "buddies" at school call me :eeyore: but I think I am more of a :goofy: Coachycp any thoughts and be nice! lol

DW is ::MinnieMo
DS 14 in my opinion is :donald: but he thinks :dumbo:
DS 11 is on the go go go so :tigger:

Well better get some work done on my planning but plan on being back daily now as I am in full tilt Disney mode.

Have a great day!

Scott :goofy:

:sick:poor knee - hope its better soon.....

I think I'd rather have the two staterooms. Saving 500 is a big bonus but 5 nights of not stepping on top of eachother????? Its TWO bonus bathrooms! Can you tell I have a teenage daughter?

Scott :goofy:

Not much help with the room issue. I'd be just as undecided as you. Extra room is nice, extra money is nice. :confused3

I hope your ankle is recovering well! I had major foot surgery in January. My goal is to be walking without a limp by August! I am still in physical therapy. I worry about crowded elevators and lots of stairs. I broke my foot falling down the stairs and now I freak out a little going down. Going up is okay though.

I'll throw my two cents in...............I vote for the two staterooms. Besides the extra $500, what else would you be gaining? What do you lose? You had a reason for picking two cabins. Is that reason still important? :scratchin

Happy healing too.

Thanks and the reason we have 2 staterooms is the dcl crap with well I know it says the room holds 4 people but we are only allowing 3 per cabin because of capacity issue. I am sure it is a safety thing. So in order to go we either had to take the 2 rooms or not go. So we booked 2. After long discussions between DW and I we decided with the way prices on everything are going up up up while small 500 bucks is 500 bucks so we are moving to one stateroom. Not sure right decision but can see both sides. Oh well last cruise all we did was sleep in the room anyway.

Thanks for everyone's advice. Hope everyone in path of these storms are safe. Our town warning system went off at 4:30 this am so in basement till 5:15 for tornado warning then back at 6 as I was getting into the shower. Confirmed torando around 7:00. School on time. Kids in school buses and tornados? Any way got to school had about 35 minutes of class then told to go to safe rooms as another tornado warning and possible down tornado then back to class 45 min later then they just put us back on warning. Gonna be a fun day!!!:rolleyes1

Good Morning Everyone!

Thoughts and prayers to anyone who might have been affected by the storms yesterday and anyone in the path today please stay safe and alert.

Scott - sounds like it's been a busy morning for you guys. I have been watching the weather out your way this morning since my daughter is in western Virginia and our friends are in Virginia Beach. Hope you guys have a safe uneventful day.

Here in Iowa, April has been wet and gloomy and we have struggled to get into the mid-50's. I was just telling my daughter this morning that at least with this weather we don't have to deal with the tornadoes.

I know some of these have been posted already, but what are your plans for pre and post cruise?

Ours:

We will be driving down this trip. We have a wedding to attend on July 30th in Gatlinburg, TN, and we plan to be at WDW on the 31st. Right now we will be staying at OKW for the 2 days before the cruise. Then after the cruise we will be at Saratoga Springs until Aug 13th.

Anyone up for a possible DIS meet at WDW on the 31st or 1st? We could meet at a park or somewhere for drinks. We did this at the Hyatt before our Christmas cruise and it was a lot of fun.

Good Saturday Morning Everyone!!!

We had dropped down to page 4 so I'm giving us a bump up!:cheer2:

Another cloudy rainy day here in Iowa.:umbrella: We actually had some sun :sunny: yesterday but I guess that's all we are going to get.

Deb in IA - would you guys be up for a possible meet before the cruise sometime?

JMTStone - I believe you are the one doing the FE list. We really enjoyed doing this on our last cruise and would love to do it again. Alyssa and I are in a suite and from what I understand you can only access those on the Dream if you have a room in the concierge area so I am trying to figure out how to include us in the FE. I might have to hang both of them outside of Brittany and David's cabin. Once I get it figured out I will PM you with the information. Have we set a cut-off date for the FE list?

.

We are coming in a week before staying at Saratoga Springs. The day we disembark we are staying at the Bay Lake Towers for one night. Our flight back to San Francisco isn't til 5:00 on Monday

I wonder when we are going to start having two rooms as a family? We get along fairly well. It is always weird for us to go back to our own rooms once we get home. We own a small sailboat, so any room on any cruise ship seems a lot easier to manage. Do love the split baths though.

For this cruise I asked the children did they want a bigger cabin or an inside
B2B cruise? Without missing a beat they said the B2B. They said we are hardly ever in the stateroom plus the virtual portholes were of great interest. I think if I would have switched from that cabin I would have had mutiny on my hands. With a first year in college a few weeks after the vacation, I wanted to not spend tons of money. And our airfare is a lot more than last year. Plus some extra excursions for both legs like scuba 2x add to the overall costs.

Glad your day with the storms went well. I'm glad to have a few days without rain here.

August can't come soon enough for me. Since we are chatting about weather, we are fortunate to be nowhere near the terrible storms of the other day but we did get 10" of snow yesterday. Fortunately it has already melted but I really need a warm vacation!

For our next cruise we will be needing two rooms. We plan to re-book on board. Our only other Disney cruise we had the 2 bedroom family suite on the Magic to fit all 6 of us. Nothing we do will ever be as nice as that! But as my kids get older I don't see spending much time at all in the rooms.

We are staying one night at the Poly before the cruise. We have ADRs at Ohana and plan to watch Wishes from the beach if anyone wants to join us there for a meet on August 1!

There is a thread about the death of Osama. Some are freaking out about traveling now. C'mon. Yes do we need to be prudent when we travel of course. Do I think at somepoint there will be an attempt to retaliate? Yes. Will I live in fear? No way! I live an hour from DC and Baltimore and have a major Army fort in my back yard. I have had 2 of my students give their lives in afg. so that I can go to WDW and DCL. Please do not live in fear out of respect for those that work and die for our safety and freedom. If you do then those that want to terrorize us are winning. A quote from the other thread (parapharse) You can't terrorize those that aren't afraid.

Sorry to be political but tired of when something happens everyone want to talk about what if and oh no now I can't travel.......

Support our troops and God bless our troops!

Thank you David and Curt for your sacrifice!

Scott
