August 2, 2011 disney dream

Hope you all make it back to the Sunshine State soon, Rob!

We would LOVE to sail wtih you, Kristy, and Emily again, but 3/3 will be a very busy time for Mark, and since he is in high school, it is hard to get away. He will be in the school musical around then as well as juggling track practices. You are right, sailing at "off" times makes a big difference in pricing! Disney knows what they are doing, don't they?

Us too! I know people look at us as if we were crazy when we tell them that we don't really care for the verandahs, but on our first cruise on the Wonder, we got a verandah, and it was a HUGE waste of money. The kids never went out there, and when DH and I tried to use it at night, after the kids had gone to bed, there was either too much smoke from nearby, or rather iniebriated neighbors, talking way too loud and way too much.:scared1:

Still trying to see if I can book an inside room for a short cruise next summer, then maybe do a longer one in 2013. Unfortunately, looks like there are no 3 day cruises at all between May and September next year, and the 4 day ones are only during the peak season.

Great to run into you, Pete Family and thanks for the Mardi Gras beads!

Are you all OK with Tropical Storm Lee? Last I heard, they said that New Orleans got a lot of rain, but since there was no storm surge, the pumps were working well and the levees were holding up. Hope you are all OK!

we had a ton of rain lost power and water for a few hours, got to stay for a mini 1 day vacation next door to my office. we were back home the next day:upsidedow

Rain rain go away! All I have to say is thank god it isn't winter we would be under a ton of snow! The rain has really messed up athletic schedules. Heck we are trying to move our football game to another school that has turf. Sign of the times I guess. Whatever happened to having a good ole mud bowl game. School does not want field messed up. Soccer would complain that football messed up field, football would complain wet muddy field hurt ournspeed advantage. Ugh just play! Can anyone tell i am ready to go jack to wdw.

Have a great weekend!

Scott

I was wondering how much snow the rain would equal?

My DD's soccer game was moved to another county to play on an available turf field.

Now where did I put my boat?

(shifting gears)

So, has anyone thought about Alaska?
We are! :woohoo:

We are seriously considering either the June 25, 2012 or July 2, 2012 Wonder cruise to Alaska.
Anyone want to join us? :yay:

Getting ready to bank my dvc points for the year.:sad2: I should be getting excited about dec trip but we could not afford it this year. Last time we skipped our dec. trip everyone was grouchy all spring. In addition to that I was pricing airfare for a possible summer 2012 trip to aulani. :rotfl2: For 4 of us it is crazy expensive. Could afford 4/5 day cruise for what they want in airfare.

Oh well!

It's the airfare that is keeping us away from Alaska too. I would love to go back to Hawaii. It was one of my favorite places so far.

:grouphug: Sorry you have to skip your Dec. trip. Time to start planning the next one.

The pictures were fun. I noticed someone wearing "I lost my tooth" badge. My DD lost her first tooth on the Magic. She was so worried that the tooth fairy wasn't going to find her. Luckily I knew she about it so I packed my tooth fairy kit. The next time her tooth was ready to pop out I didn't have my kit. So I sent my DH to guest services for "pixie dust" (glitter) at 2 AM (after watching Pirates). GS kept saying "Realy sir, what can I help you with?" He explained that our tooth fairy always leaves $1 US, a coin from the last country the tooth fairy visited (luckily I had change from the port before), and glitter from where she enters the room and where she picks up the tooth. Although I still believe GS offered him two types of glitter - regular and Mickey head, he picked regular. :confused3

Everyone must be busy busy as it has been 8 days since anyone has posted. Hope everyone is not going through to much of a withdraw from disney. Been looking at photo threads to keep my fix up. Sports are in full force so seems like I am never home. Matt's band has won both competitions they have been in this year. Yesterday was at the Naval Academy which was really cool. Their show is unique in that it is based on a football game. Drum major is dressed as ref and Matt is dressed as a ravens player. Biased but our flag corp is the best I have seen of any group. Helps that they are directed by one of the biggest dance studios here in Frederick. It is an entertaining show and while they participate in a small IIa level they had the highest score in their session on Sat. with some big bands. Matt is in the pit and is constantly moving from one percussion instrument to another. Not only did they win their division but were awarded highest percussion score, originality, show performance, flag presentation, and overall musical performance. It was impressive. Tim marched behind his brother as Coachycp and my spring championship baseball team participated in the parade. I wish someone would have filmed our group as behind us was a group of flag football kids. They are young and as Doug and I were holding the candy bags every once in awhile we would feel some tugging at the bags and sure enough the little football players were digging in the bags. As our kids threw candy they would weave them selves through our players to get the candy before the kids watching the parade could get it. It was :rotfl2:!

Doug is talking Hawaii next summer and we just entered the gma contest to see if we can win as that may be the only way we can afford the airfare. DVC points are not bad at all it is the dang flights. Hopefully we can work it out. Not sure I can go from last almost 2 years without going to wdw but I hear Aulani is very nice even though it has been getting some bad reviews with cost on Disboards here lately. Well I have taken enough of your time and need to grade some school stuff. Have a great week everyone and when you get a chance let us all know how everyone is doing.

Scott

See what happens when I am tired. Last post was confusing. The band was in a parade in our town Sat before they left for the Naval Academy. Sorry about confusion. I was reading the post and was like what in the heck am I talking about lol:surfweb::rotfl2:

Very cool about the band competitions, Scott!
Are they a marching band, or a pep band?

I think we had marching bands when I was in school, but at our kids' high school, they only have a pep band. The school is much smaller, though. Only about 70 kids in each graduating class, and many of the kids are playing sports!

Busy time for us, too.
Jennifer has a test every week. Last week it was organic chem. She was really happy that she scored in the top 5%!

Mark is getting his PR almost every race. Last week, he ran his first sub-20 5K, and tomorrow, he gets to run varsity! He is very pleased. He also went to his first Math competition on Saturday. The team did really well, and he has a shot at going to state for the speed drills.

Interesting about Aulani. I was wondering if they were going to jack up the prices/points after the debacle with Jim Lewis. Anyone know how much they got adjusted?

Well last football game was Sat and we lost again but good news for me fall sports are over.:cool1: Get a week of reloading for the winter season. Clean medical kits, coolers, close injury reports. Best news is I can leave at 2:45 for this week. Of course now tim has made 6th grade travel basketball team so no rest on the coaching arena. My DS 14 matt continues to enjoy marching band and they have 5 first place finishes one second and a 6th in major competition at James Madison Universtiy. Currently they are planning a trip to Disney world in March but I am disappointed in that they don't get to march in the park? Questioning the amount of money for not marching. They get to perform for Disney musicians and they will have a day of class with Disney musicians so that is cool but dang I want them to march down mainstreet usa! How cool would that be!!!!! The other bad news is I can't go but my dw can so she is looking to plan for the trip.

Had dinner with Coachycp sat. and as always an enjoyable catchup time. Doug and the gang say hello. He has been slacking on disboards something to do with travel and work or some garbage like that lol. I am starting my depressed state as we should be planning our dec trip and we arent going. I will be evil by the spring. At least we have pictures and movies and you tube video to help with the fix.

I hope everyone is healthy and not to busy and gets to enjoy the holiday seasons coming.

Scott

Hi guys. We're keeping busy in Pittsburgh. The girls are in school and doing well.

Jon and I are happily planning our next vacation. Vero, Old Key West, Magic and Kidani.

Our last trip, I booked a surprise book-end day at BLT with MK view with Chef Mickey for us.

I don't know WHAT to do for a surprise this time. I was thinking of the safari dinner, but I see you have to have park tickets for that. This trip we are just spending 3 days at the park. I was thinking of the new Pirate and Pals voyage on Seven Seas Lagoon. The Pittsburgh Pirate has TWO Pirate parties?pirate:

Scooter,
I'm glad everyone is doing so well. Sorry you won't be able to make the trip with the band. I've seen marching bands at MK... wonder why yours won't be marching there. Say Hello to Doug and family. Kenzie just saw P**** on our home video and wants to call her!

How is everyone else?

Hello all! I hope everyone is doing well post cruise, and looking forward to the upcoming holidays.

We had decided that our next cruise would be in March 2012 on the Magic, but that is being pushed out just a bit, as our plans have changed, but because of exciting news..

I have come to an arrangement with work, so, WE ARE MOVING BACK TO FLORIDA!!

I'll be going down in 2 weeks from now to house hunt, this time instead of West central FL, we're going to the Orlando area.

I'll keep you all posted on progress!

That is so awesome! I am applying for government jobs and my application was forwarded to the hiring officials for a position with the IRS in Plantation, FL. I haven't been called for an interview.

We don't even have a disney store within 2 hours so I thought about opening a kiosk in the mall but cannot get a real person on the phone at disney for anything, want to do it legally.

This is good news. Crossing fingers!

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Scott, Hope, Matt and Tim

Merry Christmas!

Rob, that is great news!

We are booked with the kids on the August 3, 2013 Western on the Fantasy. The kids are so excited!

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season! Ours was busy packing and moving. We are now back in Florida, living in Valrico, which is a suburb of Tampa.

Park annuals are in hand, and will be enjoying visiting as often as we like again. It's good to be back home!

Hope everyone had a great holiday season!

Rob, that is GREAT to hear! I'm so glad you got back to Florida!

We are booked on the June 25, 2012 Alaska cruise on the Wonder.
We still have our onboard booking "dummy" cruise December 1 - 8, 2012 Mexican cruise on the Magic, that we are going to move.

Like the rest of the world, it seems, we are anxiously awaiting the Magic/Wonder 2013 itineraries.

Anyone else planning for 2013?

We are sailing on the Magic on May 18th this year. We booked it on the Dream and have kept it. Taylor is picking up a few extra classes this summer starting June 1st so we are keeping the date. She's hoping to graduate with BS Nursing degree early. Other than that... I'm thinking something FROM California in 2013. Jon and the girls have never been to Disneyland.
