August 19th you'll be able to meet rare characters in MK and Epcot during the first ever "Photopass Day!!"

Look for Pinocchio and Friends in MK. Epcot will have Mushu with Mulan, Dopey with Snow White and others!

Bummed I'm missing this by just a couple days, mainly for Mushu

The one thing Disney does recently that I could get excited about. And they give 3 days' notice. Thanks Disney.

Looks like they are targeting getting AP holders to the park for a quick bump in admissions.

No doubt that's exactly what this is as if they can get a quick bump this last quarter then the numbers won't look so bad. I'm going to be really interested to see Q4 numbers.

Do Mulan and Mushu not always make occasional appearances in China?

I met both of them in China years ago on a trip (which was admittedly... years ago, and I know things change, but)... I also saw Mulan in China on my last trip, which was only this past Feb. Though no sign of Mushu.

Frankly I was also surprised to learn the 7 Dwarfs were a draw at Not-So-Scary, as on a past trip I once found them all out for meet and greets in the Germany pavilion. Didn't realize it was a rarity to catch them all at once.

I realize that other than scheduled meet and greets, random character appearances are hit-and-miss, but Country-appropriate meet and greets at world showcase always seemed fairly common to me (in a general sense, not in an "I want this specific character!" sense). Beyond the ones mentioned, things like Captain Hook in UK, Aladdin & Abu in Morocco, Hercules Characters in Italy (that one is fudged a bit, but hey, so is Arendelle in Norway).

But I admit, perhaps it was always just a case of right place right time.

I think Mulan meets regularly - Mushu not so much. With the Dwarfs, you may seem them out before MNSSHP in EPCOT as they do character training there. There have been reports of seeing Jack and Sally from NBC out at EPCOT already and you will probably see the Evil Queen and Malificent at some point (note that this is all random and very much fluid and subject to change - don't ever count on seeing these characters). But while it's rare to see them, it's not uncommon to see them at EPCOT a month or so before the parties start.
