August 19, 2007 Disney Wonder

This evening I was watching the travel channel's show on the Disney Cruise Ships on my t.v. and looking at the Wonder leaving Port Canaveral on my laptop at the same time. Hurry up August:banana:

Dizzyworld:

We are traveling with 7 almost teenage boys (5 are age 12)(2 boys are 10 and 6) and 7 teenage girls (ages 13 thru 16). The girls will be in the teen club (they spent most of the time there last year) but the boys will have to wait another year. Hopefully there will be other teen boys on the ship for your son, but I am sure our girls will welcome him.

Hi
We booked this cruise. My DD picked a Disney Cruise and Vacation for her
Sweet 16 Birthday instead of a big party. We also have a DS (12) he was planning on going in the teen club but from what I read I have to tell him not yet but there will be alot of boys his age.
We can't wait this is our first cruise.
My DD is already making magnet signs to announce her SWEET 16 :cool1:

See you all on board real soon:banana:

Welcome DarDar - we do have alot of 12 year old boys with our group so your son will have company. We also have a 16 year old girl in our group! Glad to have you onboard.:thumbsup2

I just got off the phone with DCL and I have to tell you what happened. I wanted to check to see how much it would be to add the "land" portion to our cruise, making a land/sea package. Since we are in Cat 3 (a splurge for my DH 50th Bday and our 20th Anniversary), the WDW portion of the trip would be a standard room (no concierge) at the GF. DCL told me that it would be an additional $6,800 to add the three nights land to our cruise. I laughed and said that must be a mistake, that the $6,800 was more than I had paid for the cruise itself....nope, our total for land/sea would be over $12,000, but the CM did say "well, it does include your park tickets". I had to laugh...said thank you and didn't book the land portion with DCL. I booked the land through WDW Travel, and we will be staying at the GF RPC for two nights, with park tickets, for under $2000.00 - and I had thought that was alot. I am still laughing at the $6800 land quote.

That doesn't surprise me. I booked my land/sea pkg last August and it was $3884 for me, DH and DS8 (not including air). Now when I check it's a little over $8000. I'm so glad I booked it when I did.

We are sooo excited!! we will send our teens to that sight when they get home, i think it will be good for them to connect before the DC. I have 2 DD 13 and 14. I think i am going to go to Michaels and start making door signs!! Bye for now

Hello All,

When I came home from work today, I found my DCL travel kits in the mail. We got two kits because of our connecting rooms. It is the standard stuff from the first cruise but it is just another sign that the cruise is getting closer.

They must have forgotten that I am a castaway member because the letter told me that I had to wait until June to book any excursions.

I was thinking that it may be fun for us all to have "fish extenders". It seems from other boards, that Dis'ers use fish extenders to leave each other small token gifts, messages, etc. while on the cruise. A fish extender is kinda like an over-the-door shoe bag (only much smaller, 3 or 4 pockets) that hangs on the metal fish outside your cabin door (the metal fish is used like a mailbox by DCL to deliver "mail" to each room). I thought the kids might especially like coming "home" to find a small item in the fish extender, maybe an inexpensive gift, magnet etc from everybody's home state. Just a thought. Anyone interested?

I think this would be a really fun idea! I have read about "fish extenders" but still can't quite picture one. I think it could be fun to think about some inexpensive gifts that could be left in them. I was even thinking how Target often has Disney items in the Dollar Spot section - I got the kids some great Disney pencils and paper for $1. The magnet idea is also great! Whatever you come up with would really be a lot of fun!

It is starting to hit our family how close the cruise is getting! We also got our Cruise travel kit - nothing new but so fun to get a big letter from Disney! Our countdown chain is also getting much shorter and the kids are looking forward to being under 100 days soon!

Joe - HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I know it is a day early but I didn't want to forget! We are celebrating Emily's birthday tonight since she is busy with dance tomorrow night. It is funny that the 2 of you share the same birthday! :bday:

I have been trying to stay off the boards a bit to pass the time but I am back on and obsessing over all the details again! :goodvibes I am going to have to make a list of all the questions I still have (this will be our first ever cruise) and get them posted soon!

Happy Wednesday Everyone!
Jen

why what a wonderful idea donald and daisy duck! i would love to do that if some other people want to also!

There is a thread on the DCL cruise forum about "fish extenders". If I did it right I should be able to give you the link:
http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607
DramaQueen I know I can always count on you to be onboard with fun ideas! BTW, what thread are you and other teen 8/19 cruisers on. Maybe you could post it here and others can join.party:

PS: Yo Ho Silver!

If anyone is interested, we changed our dinner seating from "main" to "second" and we are a large group of people (25) so if you wanted "main" dinner seating, call DCL today and asked to be changed.:goodvibes

hello everyone! as of right now, there seems to be no communications between the teens on this cruise at all, except for a few exceptions. dont be shy! if you have a teen who would like to get in touch, have them send a private message to my username with their email or screen name. i cant post links because i have a small number of posts, however, i can spell out the link. so i hope it works:

h t t p : / / w w w . disboards . com / showthread . php ? t = 1348414

just take out the spaces and there you should find the post for teens on this cruise. im looking forward to hearing from all of you!

This will be the first cruise for me, DH and DS7. Researching is building the excitement. I've decided to make decisions then try to forget how long there still is to wait! Any advice on shows, excursions? We can book 75 days out, and I don't want to miss anything. Can anyone tell me if we will be paying 4 or 5 days for parking the renter? Thanks for your help, and it's nice to know we're not the only house bursting with excitement. We're even having a "less than 100 days to go" party!

Hello All,

I have been very busy but I get all the messages on my blackberry phone. It looks like things are coming together. Donald and Daisy Duck, I love the idea of the fish extenders. I have to find them, any ideas of where to go?

Jen, thanks for the birthday wishes. I had a cookout with family and friends to bring in the big 40! It was fun, but not as much fun as the sailaway party on the Disney Wonder.

I can't wait to see the new Pirates of the Carribean movie on the ship.

Joe

benseven,

You will only be paying for 4 days for your rental. You pay when you arrive via cash or credit card and then walk across the street to the terminal.

Joe

Hi Donald and Daisy,
This sounds like a great idea count me in just let me know how it works and what I need to do to get in on this great idea.
Oh I can't wait until AUGUST 19
I am also going to tell my DD about the teen site I will send info

Can't wait to meet everyone and have a great Disney Cruise :cheer2:

Dot

The fish extender sounds like a fun idea, but don't you worry about people stealing stuff in there? Just curious!

BTW- I finally came up with an idea on how to tell my DS8 we're going on the DCL again. On the last day of school, I'm going to give him some Disney Dollars (so he can spend at DW) and a little note about where we're going this summer. He knows we're going somewhere, but not where and when.

Also, I know it's early, but found something for the 3 of us to wear on pirate night. Just t-shirts, I can't do a whole costume.
