August 18,-25 2014 Disney Wonder to Alaska

My family will be there. We are 5: myself, hubby, 2 kids and grandma. This will be our first cruise on Disney and to Alaska.

I was directed to this site by a fish extender exchange blogger. Does anyone know anything about FE and how to go about participating in one?

I all! We have created a facebook group:

I know I am more chatty there than on here.

Also, I have started an FE list! It is a google doc. So, please message me here or on facebook for the link! Lets get our fish extender exchange info started!:cool1:

Sent a request to join the fb group. Also, I'm interested in FE. How do I go about that?

Sarah, there is going to 5 of us taking the August 18-25th. Two parents and 2 children and one grandmam. The children are 2 (girl) and 4 (boy). Do you know if anyone is doing fish extender?

Hi! I don't know anything about fish extenders but my daughter will be almost 3 1/2 when we cruise. Is your daughter 2 now or is that how old she'll be in August? She loves meeting new kids.

My daughter will be 2 1/2 in August. I'm sure they would love to play together. She loves older kids....and younger kids....basically, all kids :)

Sounds just like my daughter!

Finally booked our airfare yesterday but had one heck of a time! Needed 5 tickets total and was trying to coordinate using 1 Delta award ticket and 2 US Bank award tickets. Finally had to settle on flying into Seattle instead of Vancouver. Now the fun begins of trying to secure a one way rental or find a bus/train to get us there. Open to any suggestion.

You should call the rental companies and see if they can consider your rental round trip since you do actually need it both ways.

We're most likely going to be on this cruise. It'll be 3 of us (Me, DH and DD (9)). I sent a fb request and haven't been approved yet, either.

We just got home a few hours ago from a 4 night Bahama cruise aboard the Wonder and I'm thrilled to say we booked this cruise while on the boat two days ago! This will be our 3rd Disney Cruise and we are very excited. We will be celebrating my hubby's 50th Birthday and have been talking about Alaska for weeks now; we couldn't walk away from the perks of booking a cruise while on the boat. Looking forward to getting to know you all and when someone gets a great rate on airfare from Newark, let me know!!

DH 50 (not yet, but will be)
Me 41
DD 9
DD 8

Hi Lisa,
What kind of a discount do you get when you book onboard? I was thinking of booking one for next year while on this one.
Corey

I found info on on board booking discount. Yay!

We will be on the Wonder Cruise to Alaska with the rest of you! We, myself, husband, daughter, son-in-law, and grandson(2yrs old) first cruise for everyone except my daughter. 1st time to Alaska for all of us. How do fish extenders work? How do I join one? I have so many questions...But I will stop with these two questions for now. Thanks

I'm still trying to figure out the FE thing, exactly. From my understanding, someone in this group will lead it. I believe that there is a post somewhere in this thread where someone has started it or mentioned starting one. Basically, you ask to join, give your family info (names and ages of those in your stateroom and your stateroom number). You then provide gifts to those who are participating and they do the same for you. From what I've read, there really are no rules as to what you gift. They can be store bought or homemade. And you work within your budget. There are plenty of bloggers out there with info on FE. If you just google it, you'll get loads of info. As far as I know, we are in the right place (disboards) to join an FE exchange.

&& Okay, I have literally just given up on the Facebook thing because I'm pretty sure they're just going to be doing their own thing LOL. Yeah, so I'm not very sure about the FE ordeal, but let's just see if plumberinainseattle is planning to come back with that FE list of hers. :coffee:

We still have loads of time to figure out FE. If she doesn't come back, I think the list you have listed will be great :)

Also, quiltingruthie and pepsapeep are in the same travel party. So together we are a party of 5.

I'm in for any FE group started on this thread. Can't wait! Thanks for answering my questions. :cloud9:

Sorry everyone! I was checking Facebook waiting to get on our page there and forgot to come back here

To answer the cruise discount question: we got 10% off the total rate plus a $200 room credit. What's nice is you only need to put 10% down and have two months to make your payment or change the date or even cancel with a full refund. A great deal!

And we are in for the FE too!

Just booked our hotel at the Pan Pacific for around $230/night for harbor view ( you can get as low as $215/night for a non view room). Fully refundable up to 24 hours before check-in. I will continue to shop around but so far this is the best deal I can find.

If you use this link Travel Pony you'll get $35 credit off your first booking and also use promo code flashpony to get another 10%. Saved us around $100 on 3 nights.

The flashpony 10% promo may end soon, limited to first 1000 people who use it (something like 970 left as of right now).

Full disclosure, the above link is a referral for my account. I am only including it because anyone who uses it gets $35. If this is breaking any rules I'm happy to remove.

Getting so excited for this trip!!
