August 18, 2010...Can't wait for the MAGICal Mediterranean!!!

Mary, we'll be coming to dinner in our pants, skirts and shirts, normal dinner dress. I'm sure we'll be making use of the buffet on a couple of other nights, ie the late return excursions.......

Pants? :scared1: You're going to wear pants? Didn't you see the memo?

Kate, (and anyone else you might know:-))

Can I pick your brains? Logistically is it going to be easy to get from Villefranche to Nice Airport. It looks simple on the maps, but thought you might know from experience. We're thinking about doing a back to back and staying on and doing the following cruise to ours. My mum would come out and meet us, but I have to be back for work on Wednesday morning so we'd have to leave early (not a problem with Disney - I rang them to check). Still worth doing given the deals, just a bit more complex.

Any input definately welcome
Vicky

How wonderful to stay on!!!

Nice Airport is only a few miles out of Nice, probably no more than 4 miles and it is right on the coast. To get from Villefranche to Nice is easy, as a little train runs into Nice from Villefranche. We got this last time and spent most of the afternoon in Nice, I think the train took around 10 minutes or so, maybe less, but we were on the East side of Nice and the airport is on the West, I know it wasn't far.

I would think a taxi wouldn't cost very much atall and there is bound to be an airport bus once you are in Nice. I can't remember where the train stopped, whether it was Nice station or a smaller one!!!

OH seems to think it was a smaller station, but definately in Nice, whether it goes on further down the coast I am not sure, but you would find this out on Rail Europe site.

I don't blame you taking advantage of staying on. The prices so good. On the cruise we were on in June, loads of people stayed on for it from the previous cruise, as it wasn't full. Disney put a note around the cabins half way through offering them to stay on for a few hundred dollars. We were orirignally supposed to be on that one and would definately had done it, as our half term was two weeks.

Shame we have to get back for school on the following Thursday or we would be joining you.

Kate

Yea we are probably going to do the same thing!

I am sure we will too, we are first seating at dinner, not ideal really, we were thinking of asking to change, but now the ship is so full, it is unlikely we would be able to. OH likes to watch the sailaways.

I believe the buffet is actually laid out, I thought it would be the same as during the day, but was told there are place settings, although you still go up and choose what you want. I should imagine a lot of people will be doing the same.

Asked OH about the DJ, he is not sure!!! I thought it was women who couldn't make up their minds.

Kate

Mindy, glad to hear DCL came through with the tux for Jim. Darren isn't even bringing a suit!!!! We're not dressing for formal night, just too much to haul over there for 4 people. We'll either be the ones people talk about on the board who don't dress, or we'll be in the buffet that night!

Don't worry we'll be right there with you. Too much hassle... I guess they'll be talking about us also, so you'll be in good company..... :cheer2:

Oh really? So ther buffet is a bit more organized I guess? That is a good news, especially considering the packed ship.

See, I've heard the buffet is table service, EXCEPT for salads and stuff. I guess most of us will find out... I know we will, as on those late returns, we'll prob be too tired to wait for late dining.....

I'm just taking it as it comes. I'll decide where to go depending on when we return from excursions and how we feel. No big deal either way. We were in the dining room every night on our last cruise. We even sat in there while the kids ate the night we had dinner at Palo.

Hi Mindy - I'm with you...we'll decide depending on when we return from excursions and how tired we are. We ate in the dining room all nights during the last cruise with my family...so we'll see how it goes. I'm thinking room service one night might be good...maybe on the Rome or Pisa days!!!

::yes::

Yea us too. I really have to see how I feel. The one thing that may determine my trip to topsiders would be if we have to wake up very early for an excursion one day...then the night before we may want to eat earlt. Who knows.

Lori- well that imo would be nice.

OMG, I'm a runner!!!! I ran for 20 min today and didn't stop!!!! It was hard, but I pushed through it! W5D3 C25K in the books!!!!!!

That's great Lori!:cheer2::cheer2:

Soon you'll have another excuse to go to DW...to run in the 5K

I know that some of you are taking your first cruise and as I'm figuring out what to pack, I just wanted to give you a suggestion that I found invaluable when I cruised last. Buy Downy wrinkle release spray. I am an avid ironer. I even iron my jeans before I wear them. I want you to know that I did not iron once on my last cruise and my stuff came out of the suitcase wrinkled. I used the spray and it worked. Ironing is a pain on the ship because you can only do it in the laundry room and as much as I iron, I would have been there a lot....DH was very proud of me and I didn't feel wrinkled. Just a tip.

OMG!!! Thats amazing - well done. Your plan must be much harder, I still get breaks in mine, 8 mins running 2 min walk x 3. Did Wk5D2 this morning, but desperately need to buy some decent shoes, mine are from the late 90's!! Somehow I think technology has advanced since then!!! What ones did you get Mindy?

I keep reading about this Downy Wrinkle spray, but we don't have anything like it in the UK. Anyone fancy putting some in my FE!!!!!:laughing:

Got a few more bits today - I get little things with the weekly shop, then it seems a bargain, as they get lost in the bill!!:confused3

Great weather here, not long now, may start putting some clothes out on the spare bed this weekend (just to get an idea!):goodvibes

Kate

I got New Balance cross trainers.

As for the wrinkle spray, you can borrow mine.

Kate - I actually think your plan is harder. I find it harder when I have to run for a bit than stop and then run a few minutes later. I find it easier when just running the whole time....
