Ok...I have information. DH just called after lengthy conversation with the concierge. First of all there are 2 cat 3's available...(Lori - here's your chance to upgrade). As for Palo. Palo has a private room that is first come, first serve. They let you know 30 days out whether you got it or not. You need 12 people to get the room. I can book it under my reservation and it will not count against anyone else's Palo bookings. However, we only have 8 right now (Susan, Lori, Kim and me).

The largest table I can book in Palo without the private room is for 6. The only way we can be in there with 8 is to have me book a table for 6 and someone else would have to use their ressie to book the additional 2.

Those are our options. Let me know your thoughts. The concierge my DH spoke with was the same one that gave us our upgrade on our last cruise. She said she was going on 5/5 and would call us when she returned and let us know what was good and what wasn't, so we could change things if we wanted.

Yes, if you are interested, we would be happy to share the tours. I think it will be great for the kids. If you would like, I will forward the emails that I have received from Marcello (Naples) and Francesco (Rome). I don't know if you can do private messages yet, but I can't since I don't yet have ten posts.

That's funny we are actually booked there for post cruise. We like Marriott hotels as well. DH travels a lot for business and we used his points to book our post stay. We were debating if we wanted to stay in town before the cruise so we did not book there currently. It sounds like a good deal though. We have thought about doing the on and off bus as well to see the city.

I propose we make the ressies for 12 and HOPE the private room becomes available. If we can't find 2 more who want to join us, then the 10 of us split the $30 surchage for not getting 2 more. Then we can hopefully get the private room, if we don't get the room, just have the ressie ammended down to the 10 we have. Thoughts?????

Yes we definately shoud try and do that. We will have to come up with a cover story. When do you plan to tell them that they are going on the cruise? I am still so impressed that you are able to keep it a secret from them.

When they see the ship. I've slipped so many times...it's not funny, but they haven't a clue.

Also just an FYI, brunch and high tea are only offered on days at sea.

Wow this has been an active board tonight. Just got back from a pta meeting discussing the school budget. Long and not fun.

I"m glad we got two more for Palo. That should be fun. Thank you Mindy for trying to get the private room. Ohterwise can they give us a table in the main part of the restaurant?

I have enough for the private room, so I'm going to request it. If we don't get it, if someone gives me their ressie #, I can get two tables of 6 next to each other in the main restaurant. We won't know until 30 days out, so hopefully my concierge will be helpful in this regard.

Yeah! I booked our airfare tonight. I had been holding out for a lower price. The price did go down, but slight change in plans. We are now arriving on Tuesday (hopefully enough time to recover from jetlag) and leaving on Monday - $600 savings.

you are not losing it. we are the ones who cruised on the Oasis over spring break. cruise was march 27 - april 3. then we went to disney and got home the night of the 6th.

now i have to start planning this cruise.

We're in the same boat to Villefranche. We don't care to gamble (went to Vegas and didn't do any..), and not sure I want to try to rent a car to see the coastline. I think we'll leave it open and just wander the town. Or, wait and see what other have to say on their trip reports and go from there.

And from what I've seen....you're up at midnight anyhow....but that's kind of annoying about the concierge thing...

You're right Stacey's son is too young. Ellen never chimed in, but we have 11, we can only take one more. Maybe if Ellen wants to join us, we can squeeze in 13, but I haven't heard from her.
