August 18, 2010...Can't wait for the MAGICal Mediterranean!!!

So, I was talking to someone at work who'd been a 747 pilot. I asked about changing planes overseas versus stateside. I was wondering about luggage making it to Barcelona (if you haven't read the trip report thread on the 2007 Med cruises, you might want to...). He told me that the airline employees in Europe are prone to "striking to get a day off" and to basically re-route baggage if frustrated with their employers. Just something to think of....I'm personally looking at routing thru NY or Atlanta for just that reason......

Oh that does not sound like fun. Luckily we fly from NY, so hopefully that won't happen

Happy Labor Day Weekend

Hello everyone!!! I have a lot to catch up on. We just booked this sailing onboard the Magic last week!!! Glad to be joining you guys. We got what seems to be the last cat 4, as we got a gty, and now there aren't anymore. We'll be myself 40, DH 40, DD 12, DS 9. Look forward to getting to know everyone over the next 11 months!

Glad to hear the ranks have increased by another family. Somewhere is a listing of who's onboard. Either Mindy or Amy is keeping it up, and I'm sure they'll add you to it when they look and see your post!!

I see you're doing an Alaskan cruise next year, but as I type this I can't remember if I saw a DCL cruise listed. This is our first cruise ever, and I'm terribly excited!!!

Yeah, I saw the bottom of your post after I finished typing....looks like you're DVC as well! I keep trying to convince my husband that we should invest in it. Adfter all our previous trips and this cruise, I'd have thought he'd have figured out that my Disney obsession is going nowhere!!

FYI, I finally did facebook. I'm Kimberly Merrill with the same Minnie that is to the left as my pic. I'll look back and find all y'alls descriptions when I'm actually sitting at the computer and not on my phone.

Hello and welcome :wave2:
My DS will be 8 at the time of the cruise so hopefully we can get them together.
So far we have a great group.

Sorry I didn't say so before, but we only just arrived home from a trip to Williamsburg, VA last night. Glad to see another joined our ranks. I"ll add you to the list on page 3, since Amy hasn't been around all that much. I will have 2 9 year olds on the cruise a boy and a girl.

I've been checking to see who might be posting airfares and so far British Air goes the farthest out for time...but still not enough....they're booking through 8/26/10....so you can book your flight out with them, but not home yet...LOL....soon...very soon.

Thanks Mindy, and howdy neighbor!!! We're in South Brunswick, about 20 min away from Hillsborough.

Been checking those airlines. So far British Airways is the only one booking out far enough to check prices. Economy is $542 each way and that's with a connection in Heathrow from Newark, NJ. All the other airlines are still only booking through mid August.

I could book Lufthansa if I wanted to go thru Munich and pay $1492.

NOT!

We're going to fly out of JFK, as we want to go to Paris for a few nights before the cruise and the cheapest non stops to CDG and home from BCN seem to be through JFK. We'll fly into BCN on Wed morning, it's only 1 1/2 hrs from CDG to BCN....

Have Great weekend everyone

Did you guys see that Disney is cruising to Alaska:cool1::cool1:

Yeah, I was disappointed that no info on the Dream was announced. I booked a dummy date onboard the Magic last week to transfer to the Dream. With it looking it more likely that the Dream will only be doing the shorter bahamas cruises, I'll probably book an Alaska for 2011 with that cruise. Then book the Dream or Fantasy for 2012 while onboard the Magic next year.
