August 18, 2010...Can't wait for the MAGICal Mediterranean!!!

OK I will try and do the magnets, although the printer is saying low on ink!!!:surfweb: Perhaps you are destined not to have magnets - maybe it is written........

Bon soir Lori, sorry about the knee, now you have a valid reason to rest! Don't worry too much about the bag. There is a great LV shop in Barcelona and if they don't have one, buy a 'knock off' copy from the guys standing outside the LV shop in the meantime and order a real one!!!

Please, please stop talking about broken anything, dd is just out of plaster and we have only one day to go.!!!!

Vicky, I thought you were going Tuesday, didn't realise you were going Monday, so see you on the ship. Agree about the toy shops, you can always get great little plastic disney figures in the toyshops there, that you can't get in the UK. We bought the full set of the 7 dwarfs last time.

Kate

Kate - it's honestly not the end of the world. I haven't mentoned them to DD at all, so she won't miss them.... hmmm plastic disney figures could definitely be lethal - Elizabeth has a huge thing about them - to the extent that there's around 50 in the suitcase that she was adament couldn't be left at home (including 3 of sleeping beauty)! I can't really complain though, they will be well played with onboard:-)

Bonjour from Paris!!!!! We arrived safely but today it's miserable outlet pouring and cold!!!! I slipped in front of the Arc de Trioumph and bruised my knee pretty bad. There goes my run!!!! Also they didn't have my bag at LV so I was depressed about that!!! Will try tomorrow and tues. Otherwise were having a great time!!! Safe travels everyone see you all on we'd or thurs!!!!

Lori,
I hope your knee is feeling better. Enjoy the rest of the time in Paris.:goodvibes

Goodness, I have loads more than anyone!!!!!

6 pairs trouser (pants), 6 capris, three dresses (1 formal), 10 tees/tops, 1 shorts/running T.4 pairs shoes, 1 pair running shoes, two cardigans, enough underwear for every day and a few extras, including some 'heavy duty' foundation wear!!!!

I usually wear smart trousers in the evenings with a top and Capris during the day. I have a mauve dressy dress, which is a million miles from what I would normally wear, so have got my standard black dress just in case, with a little cardi. and one flowery number!

I am really pleased as my pink 5k101 running T arrived today, so I shall stand out on the decks!

My case is about 18 kilos at the moment, we have a 20k allowance. DD's has a bit more room in it, OH hasn't started his, but I wash my hands of that!!!.

If I didn't have the FE stuff in it, it would be a little lighter!!

Bearing in mind I have to allow room for a Simba soft toy, a Stitch soft toy and if they have one a Lotso soft toy!!!! (for my sister).

Have a safe journey Mindy, do try and video the 'reveal' I would love to see their faces.

We leave first thing Tuesday, Vicky, I presume you are getting the Monarch flight, so will see you at the airport.

Kate

My packing seems similar to yours. We just weighed the 3 suitcases and they are all around 45lbs. I guess I can try to squeeze a couple more thinngs into them.

OK, surely this will be my last post for the night...I was looking through Tom's photobucket and found some name tags with our names! So I have printed them out and will just tape them to fridge magnets. "poor man's magnets";)

Only slight problem is my son's says "Fort Worth, Texas" and "1st Disney Cruise" but oh well

Now, if anyone has time on their hands and needs a project, :rolleyes1 I would love to have some Mickey ears...I will reimburse you for your magnetic paper & ink...either Euros, Dollars, or Cocktails. We are in room 2539 or I will see you at the DisMeet.....the sorcerer ears or the viking ears would be cool

Thanks!
Shawnprincess:

I did not get around to magnets either. We are in 2542 ...It seems like half of our disgroup is in that hallway.

I totally believe in better safe than sorry. I packed rain ponchos for us. They're a little heavy, but I'm sure I can use the space in my suitcase for the trip home...:rotfl2:

I agree...I just threw in some rain ponchos I had bought for our last cruise and didn't need. Whenever I bring them I don't seem to need them, but when I forget it always rains. It's always good to be prepared.:goodvibes

I went to Ramstein Jr. High back in the 1983...what great memories. :hippie:

I want to take the kids to Germany in the next year or so...

-Lee

I just got done weighing all my bags and they are all right on. That is fine for now but will really stink comming home.

Which base are you at in the KMC? My husband is at Ramstein.

Welcome, I'm a former Landstuhl'er who spent a lot of time in K-Town. We've been on/off the boards since we landed in France last week.

I'm getting the most out of my free Internet access here at the hotel and quiet time when my DD's and DW are asleep.

See everyone in Barcelona!

-Lee

Hi Everyone....Just found this board while doing a google search...thought I would say Hello!
We are also traveling from Germany, we fly out Tues morning.
This is our first cruise and we're excited :yay:
We're a family of 4- Me, DH, dd- 7 1/2 and DS- almost 3. (he is potty trained and I am hoping the Oceaneer's Club takes him!)

We're almost packed, just need to get it into the bags, we're packing very light- 1 large case, 1 carry on case, 3 backpacks.(yes I do plan o doing laundry :)

Thanks for all the great info here, I need to make myself a cup of tea, I may be here reading awhile!

Hi to all,

We've just found this site.... probably a bit too late for this posting now as we're now just two days from sailing.
My daughter (who's nine), has been bursting with excitement, (pretty much like this:banana:!!), since we booked about six weeks ago.
My wife and I are very much looking forward to this as well.
We live just outside of London.
We've got one question that I hope that someone may be able to answer. - What is the dress code for the evenings on board the ship? We've been on quite a few cruises before around the Med, mostly on P&O & Princess ships and I'm wondering whether the dress code is the same or is it a bit more casual on Disney Magic?
As I mentioned, we've cruised round the Med quite extensively an have been to all the ports of call apart from Valletta and Tunis, so if anyone wants to drop us an email with any questions about the other places we are visiting, particularly travelling independantly, or with children, we'd be more than happy to help.
Best wishes to everyone on this cruise.

OK - packing is just about complete. One suitcase is crazy - everything is in there but boy I already feel like I am forgetting something....

See you all soon.... "where the boat leaves from.... " zac brown band.

Dress code is more lax on the Disney ships....but I try to dress a little nicer for dinner and dress up for formal nights. The only rule is no shorts at dinner (although I've seen people do it and noone says anything). Welcome aboard. We have a disboard meet on Thursday at 12:15 on Deck 3 in the Promenade lounge. Please join us. I have 9 year old boy girl twins.

Lori - sorry to hear about the fall - I hope you didn't hurt yourself too badly.

Well the kids are packed, their suitcases weigh only 25lbs....we found out we can take up to 70 lbs in each of ours...something about us having a platinum continental credit card. I"m just ironing some stuff and then I'll be 75% done and can finish up tomorrow. I'm so tired right now...I keep having to retype words.

See you all soon.

Finished my packing. Two average size cases around 40lbs each. A good chunk of that is my FE stuff:rotfl: just have to do carryon. Stuff is out but not packed. I'm hoping my FE arrives tomorrow. It was shipped express a week ago. Last chance tomorrow (otherwise it will have to wait for the dream inaugural)
See you all on board. And Vicky,my 11 year old dd will be in those character lines -- just not the princess ones:rotfl2:

Safe travels all
Lisa

Just did my online flight checkin. Seems real now. Upgraded to the top deck on the 747. Never done that before. Very excited

Good Morning from a VERY jet lagged person from Paris!!! 5AM here and I can't sleep anymore. Just realized I forgot Julianna's longer skirt for the churches, so I'll be hitting some stores today to try to find her one! Safe travels to all heading out today or who've already headed out!!!

Really appreciate the advice about the dress code and the meet..... Hopefully we'll see you there!!

Hi welcome.

We too are from the uk and have done loads of P&O but find Dcl much younger and fun. It still retains the classic feel and service surpasses everything! We too haven't done Malta and Tunis although OH went to Malta as a child.

As Mindy says it's is much more informal even on formal night when it says DJ or suit most people don't (we went in June earlier this year). OH doesn't think he will take his this time, just a smart jacket. I wore my black dress but felt overdressed! Make sure your dd has a pirate outfit though the kids all do that!

Be great to see you at the meet.

Kate
