August 18, 2010...Can't wait for the MAGICal Mediterranean!!!

Hi MinnieDiva,

Yes - spotted fabric - only £2 ($3) a yard too and it looks identical to Minnie's (I figure even if it takes me 20 attempts I'll still save money on what I paid for her last one at disneyland Paris). I've been hunting a long time. She has a minnie bedroom and I wanted some to cover some cushions when I did it this time last year - couldn't find any anywhere. Just good luck today. Of course it probably helped that I went looking for green and white stripes to make a pirate waistcoat like Minnie's - which predictably they didn't have.Had I gone looking for spotty, they probably wouldn't have had it. If anyone wants any - I'll be going back again before we go on the cruise:-)

Hi Kate,

I think they were $25 each way per person (we didn't have to pay for DD as she isn't three until two days after we get home but don't tell her as she thinks she's going on the cruise for her birthday so we're going to have an unbirthday whilst we're there:-))

I'm still very impressed with all this running everyone is doing. My pre-cruise diet starts tomorrow. No mention of chocolate allowed:-)

Thanks for this, as we would have to pay for DD there is no way the taxi fare will be anymore!

I am very impressed with you sewing, the most I can do is to print out iron ons for TShirts!!! (although I did make my FE).

I was up your way today, went to Boundary Mill - thought of you!

Kate

FE LIST HERE

Boundary Mill is great:-) Don't be impressed by the sewing until you see it - it may well be dreadful!!! I haven't made my FE, I ordered it from Jen at Stitches 'n' Bows along with a sailor dress. The idea of starting from scratch without a pattern freaked me out - plus I couldn't imagine making one that looked as nice as hers. I saw some lovely T-Shirts last time we were on the Magic that people had done. Anyway back to cutting the pattern out:-)

Kate,

I have a Llaha Apso and a ****zu. I adopted them from a pet resque. They were 7 and 9 when I got them last year.

Lori - I am so impressed with you. I failed miserably. Once I couldn't run anymore, I gave up completely.

Well this is it for me today...I have my "30th" High School Reunion tonight. It should be very interesting.

Its a big jump for you, my Week 5 is a big jump too, I only hope I can do as well as I did on my last run and you have done - think posistive!!!!

Love Daschund or Sausage Dogs as we call them over here, cheeky little things. Does he run with you? I started taking one of mine with me, she is only three, a corgi X, but she started to lag behind and then not really want to come. On Tuesday, I put my trainers on and went out the door, looking back for her and she went off and jumped in her bed!!!:rotfl: Think she was trying to tell me something!!! I can't blame her though.

Kate
Yeah, Mon is going to be hard.... No, I don't bring the dog running with me. His legs are so short, he's already running when I'm walking!!!!!!!!

THX Mindy, I'm trying.. It is making me feel better and the cardio is good for me. Have fun at your reunion!!!!!!

Hello fellow cruisers, I am back from girls trip to NYC, broke and exhausted!!
I will have to watch my pennies the rest of the time I am here in US (4 more weeks). Luckily I am staying with my parents so they will not let us starve.
(I hope!)
We had such a good time, saw 2 fantastic shows, ate lots of good food, some cheap and some expensive, shopped til we dropped, got some fantastic bargains and splurged on some things and had our hair cut. It was so hot and humid there, I think it is even more humid than here in NC. Maybe because I was outside most of the day. Saw the naked cowboy, have never seen him before!
I did a terrible goof up and put my camera in my checked suitcase and the glass part where pictures are displayed (not the lens but on the other side)
got some faint scratches and 2 small gouges in the glass. Thinking about taking it to the camera store to see if anything they can do. I'm not even really sure it matters if that side is scratched or not?
My hubby is going to kill me. Also I spent way too much money on a single purchase in a boutique shop that I don't think hubby will understand. Agh, got caught up in the moment while shopping, regrets, regrets!:headache:

Hubby got our cruise docs, had to sign for Fed Ex to deliver. Thankfully it all
worked out as they said if they could not deliver w/in 5 days they would return the docs to sender:scared1:
Got my new LV bag on Canal St and also went browsing at the real LV store;
it was very nice.

Have a great weekend all:cool2:
Shawn

PS: Mindy, I am same age as you....well, OK I am one year older than you.
Hope you had an awesome time at the reunion!:wizard:

Those are the type of dogs we were looking to rescue, after our 2 1/2 year old dog died in June. We found a Havanese to rescue and just got back from our first vet visit with him and the vet said he is in good shape.:goodvibes

Mindy.....I hope you had a great time at your reunion. I have yet to go to any High school ones. Next year is a big college one and a group of my friends are planning on going.

I will see you 4 weeks from Monday.:cool1::cool1::cool1:

I think I read somewhere that Disney will have a bus going from the ship to Civitavecchia, anybody have any information regarding this? Our plan is to take the train into Rome, and do our own thing....

Mike

Kate - Thanks, it was hard today, but next week is going to be a killer. Day 1 is 5 min run, 3 min walk (repeat 3x's), day 2 8 min run, 5 min walk ( 2x's), day 3 20 min run NO STOPPING!!! That one is going to be a killer.....Day 1 doesn't look too bad, but 2 and 3 look HORRIBLE!!! I know you didn't ask me, but we have a dog as well, a rather untrained but adorable long-haired daschund.

Lori,
I guess I was not on the boards when you started this training program. What is it exactly. Sounds like it is going great for you. I am hoping that the next four weeks I feel well enough to start working out. I can't believe how close it is. When do you leave for Paris?

Susan it's call couch to 5k or c25k for short. I started 4 weeks ago and its been so good so far... hard but doable. I seemed to get a lot of followers here on our thread to try it with me.

We leave for Paris on Aug 14th.

Hahahaha! Poor thing! No dogs here. We have 2 cats, and although I'm being lobbied hard for a dog, I haven't given in yet. We travel a moderate amount, and while it's easy to get a neighbor to come over and dump some food in a cat bowl, a dog is a different story altogether. DH wants a bigger dog, I'm partial to a smaller one, though can see the running benefits to something bigger.

Hi Greatfuldad,

There was a bus at one of the ports, put on by the port services from the magic to the end of the port - as it was a long walk. It was very efficient when we were there.

Hope this helps
Vicky

Hi Guys

Well good news, I managed to do another full run without walking (except when I should). A full 4 mins running, with only a minute in between. I can't believe I did this again! It was OK too, I thought I was dying on Monday, but something has just clicked with the running - weird. Monday I start week 5 and a full 8 minutes running, Lori, I am not sure I can do that, I know you have and I admire you for it. My plan has an interim week (4-2) if I need to, which takes you up to 6 minutes as a sort of break in gently. Not sure if to try the Week 5, or just do the 4-2, decisions, decisions. How did you find the leap?

Hope you had a great time at the Reunion, how long since you have seen them? Were they the same? We had one a few years back, and it was soooo interesting to see what people were doing.

I love the Little dogs, OH's mum had a Lahsa, I trained a lot for my job (Hearing Dogs for Deaf People), and ****zhu's.

Great about the Havenese, I assessed one for Hearing Dogs about 6/7 years ago, one of the first in this country. A lady had brought them into the UK and was promoting the breed, there were only about five dogs in the UK and she thought one going through to us, would be good publicity. It worked so well and now there are loads working as hearing dogs and many more in the UK.

Great you all taking on rescues, I managed a rescue centre for the Blue Cross (North Shore in the States), before focusing on behaviour and training, we didn't get many 'breed' types in, lots of crosses, but all my dogs have been rescues.

Mike

Most cruise lines have a shuttle bus from ship into the small town, Citavecchia, and every cruise we have been on, has also a Rome on Your Own, bus into Rome, which drops you off and picks you up at the same spot later in the day. I think I saw this as an option on Disney somewhere. However, it is really really easy to get the train from here into Rome, just try and get on the fast one, not the stopping one!!! As it is a late departure, there shouldn't be any problems, most of the ships we have been on, always leave around 5.30 and we have made it back OK.

Vicky, just to let you know that Charles Clinkards have a sale on Lelli Kellys, I have just ordered two pairs from their website, one pair was only £22.50, half price. May be worth a look http://www.charlesclinkard.co.uk/sale/girls-c23

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

See you in four weeks!!!

Kate

I also downloaded the podcast from coolrunning.com and have completed Week 3, Day 2 so far. I have a lot of foot problems so not sure how far I can take it but so far so good. I feel fitter, clothes are fitting better but no difference on the scales yet. I'm eating too much good Southern food!

The other night I decided to run at 9:30 pm...big mistake! It was pitch black and I could not see anything. Got close to the end and a deer ran right past me in the opposite direction, we were about 3 ft apart. I'm glad I never saw it coming and so glad we didn't collide!

Good luck to everyone exercizing - we still have 30 days to get at it !

Shawn

thanks for asking guys...the reunion was fun. Some people I hadn't seen in 30 years, some I had reconnected with on Facebook, so it wasn't really awkward to talk with them. Some had the same stick up their behinds that they had in HS. Our friends in South NJ had my kids for the night, so after getting home late last night, we got up early and headed down there to spend the day at their pool club and went out to dinner. We just got home and I'm exhausted. BTW, dressing for the reunion was easy, just wore one of the outfits I bought for palo or semi formal night...worked out great.

I can't believe I leave for Barcelona in less than 30 days...it's unreal after so long waiting.

Had a conversation with the kids in the car tonight in preparation of the big reveal...told them that a lot of cruise ships leave out of the Barcelona ports and did they want to go down to the port one day and check out which ones did. My DS only wanted to know if the Disney Cruise would be there...I played dumb saying I didn't think so but maybe we could catch it in port. Then he tried to convince us to try to get a room on it and cancel our hotel if it was there.....I was busting holding in the laughter.

Happy 30 Days!!!!!!!!!!:banana::woohoo::yay:

Oh and my FE came as well! Wow it is beautiful. I am so not good as sewing so I am so psyched that Jen did such a great job and made my life a little easier lol.

Glad you had a good time last night!

You found spotted fabric? I made a Minnie mouse costume for DD a year and a half ago and had to do double sided fusible and my own spots ironed on!
Can't wait to see it! Did DH's pirate vest yesterday and it's too small. Have to do some altering.

Hi Minnie Diva

I just ordered Minnie dotted fabric from this online US website Fabrics from the Heart for my fish extender pocket (disboard won't let me post a link since I am an under 10 posts newbie :sad2: but you can google it if interested)

Funny, the fabric store I went to did not have red polka dot fabric and the staff told me to make my own dots. Ummm.... too ambitious for me.

OH MY... we are changing excursions --- and then looking at others...
Looks like we will do Rome ourselves... LaSpezia is back up in the air!
added Sidi Bou Said and Carthage now....
