Hi all! I've been super quiet because my Dad has been really sick. We were worried we might have to cancel the trip and just coming here and reading this thread knowing we might not get to meet all of you was heartbreaking! But it's decided we can go and so I've tried to catch up. I'm not going to quote everyone but try to comment/answer from memory (which is notoriously bad):

To the poster with the teen that likes Minecraft - we are HUGE fans of the game. but I don't think he'll want to discuss it with us since my son is just 8 and I'm 40mumblemumble, lol

We are the Elwell's for the poster that was asking.

I'm planning to run the 5k but I slacked off running once the really humid heat hit. Now all those nice outfits I bought for the cruise are getting snug! I have to get some runs in right away! We are arriving in NY on the 15th and I'm hoping to jog in or around Central Park so I can say I did it. we are planning on going to the Empire State building because my son has a fascination with skyscrapers, and we were thinking about trying to go to Ground Zero. Someone told me I needed tickets to see the memorial, does anyone know if that's true? We are also planning to see the Intrepid on the 16th (DH is a space shuttle fan) and maybe fit in an exhibit at the Discovery Times Museum if we're not completely wiped out. Also at least one breakfast at Ellen's StarDust Diner.

I have to admit I'm not even close to finishing my FE gifts.

A quick story: A couple years ago we were 5 days out from a Magic Eastern itinerary cruise when suddenly my husband discovered he had lost his wallet. He was annoyed but not dismayed since he could still use his passport for ID. He applied for a new drivers license and took to carrying his passport around. 3 days before the trip he loses the passport (from the same pair of shorts. I tried to throw them away since they were obviously evil but he fished them back out.) so we commence scrambling for a state department appointment to get an immediate reissue of the passport, he drove to about 3 registries to expedite his license renewal... Then 1 day before the cruise, when he was completely frantic and I was ready to throw him in the garbage with those shorts a neighbor walks up to us and says he found a passport in our driveway and was holding onto it until he saw us. Then another neighbor runs into DH and says the same thing about his wallet. So trip (and marriage) saved! I mention this because I just got a call from DH that his license has been expired since February. Sigh. What will I do with this man?? LOL

Your son may like the skyscraper museum, which is downtown in Manhattan. It is a short walk from the 9/11 memorial. I haven't been there myself, but have heard from friends that it is good.

As you can tell from my name, we live in New York City -- just 2 miles from the port. I was in the area today and saw that the Magic was in port looking great. As I wasn't a passenger today, I couldn't get too close.

If anyone has any last minute questions about New York, I would be happy to help out if I can.

I can't believe so many people on this list say they are packed. Our kids are not due back from summer sleepaway camp until Wednesday morning. Their clothes will not be clean until Wed night or Thursday, let alone packed! I guess that's an advantage of being a 10 minute cab ride from the port.

just an update, nflmom is a part of my family, she and my dbil (bruce) and the kids hopefully will be at the meet. She is usually more crafty then me but don't count her in for fe's. Our in laws surprised us with the family vacation so we are doing a years worth of planning in a few weeks. this will be the first vacation together for all our kids. cant wait!

Me, I am willing... I just read back and saw you have me.. So it will be me and Tyler ( 16) and we be in room 7118 as it stands.. Hoping I can upgrade at port... Also, we may just make the meet and greet I hope, I have to work Friday till 10:00 and we are traveling from CT, the first available port arrival I could get now was 2:00-2:30... So, Crossing my fingers.

How convenient is that to be so close to the port!!! I have just started to look up driving directions from CT! (Oh, I am not packed yet either-- not even close to started!!!)

Don't leave too early New Haven shouldn't be too bad but your going to sit in Traffic from Bridgeport south anytime before 10. No traffic 60 minutes from Bridgeport to the Port Terminal driven it a thousand times.

I am glad that the Fishies 2 group is growing.
I am going to say six pm Tuesday August will be the cutoff . I will be packing and traveling so I can't commit to updating the site after that. But I am so happy that so many people have been able to sign on and will join in the fun.

I would say that if you are participating in Fish Extender one and two, you would not have to prepare extra gifts for families on both lists.

My girls are packed. Their suitcase is zipped and ready to go. I laugh because everything will be a wrinkled mess by Friday. I am just happy they are this excited. Teenagers are not easy to motivate. Can't wait to just R-E-L-A-X!!!
