We have 1st dinner assignment :upsidedow . just wondering if we should skip MDR on first night and eat at one of other restaurants (getting the names of restaurants confused from Dream...is it Cabanas or Topsiders ?)

It's Topsiders on the Magic and if I remember right it's closed the first and last night, can remember for sure.

For our veteran Disney cruisers, how formal do you get on formal night? I know DH will wear a dark suit. He has told me he is not wearing a tux because everytime I tell him he needs to get dressed, we are the couple that is slightly overdressed (in his opinion). But do I wear a gown or a more formal cocktail dress. When I think formal, I think black tie affair. Help!

I usually just wear a skirt or dress, nothing to fancy for me, I see people dressing really fancy and others not as much

On the longer cruises you usually see a few tuxes but not many. My husband and son will wear a suit on both the formal and semi formal nights and I usually wear a dressy cocktail dress but you do see many gowns too. If you have it wear it. Then you have people that do not dress and formal attire is a polo shirt and khaki's. Part of the fun of a cruise is to dress for dinner. If going to Palo a Jacket is required. We always have our Family Portaits taken on those nights.

Hello everyone.
I am new to this site, off work ill but well enough to research our holiday! We are on the 17th august cruise and we are first timers.
We love Disney and have done Paris, Orlando ( got married there) and Los Angeles so thought this was next step. We are travelling from the uk
This is my first of many posts I'm sure!
Thinking about packing clothes, what is suitable dress for dinner for 7 year old boy? Do we know what night the formal one is?
Very excited!
Ps I don't have a clue what most of the posts are referring to but it all looks like lots of fun!

lislaw - welcome! Congrats on your first post!pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

Check out our website below. You may be interested in joining the fish extender; details are on the site. Fun stuff includes a meet of your fellow travellers on day one, and decorating your cabin door.

Welcome aboard.

mwehttam, I will add you to Fish Extender list. I suspect you are a NJ Devils fan. Shall I fill your FE pockets with Sens or Habs items? :rotfl2:
Do you know your cabin number?

Yes, room 7541. Sorry about that!

I can't say what would be suitable for a little boy because I have a little girl but I would think shorts or khakis would be fine most nights. Formal night is Saturday and I believe semi-formal night is Thursday.

I don't know if it's me but I feel extremely relaxed about this vacation. I am wondering if it is because I am not worried about flight, hotel and a rent car. All I need to do is get to the port and back. Before I would have completed my magnets, started on my FE gifts, started thinking about what clothes we would take and bought some trip specific things.

We are only 38 days! I need to start getting myself organized. I feel like it was only yesterday when we hit the 90 mark. Now we are only a little over a month away.

Welcome aboard!!!pixiedust: My son is now 12, but his outfits haven't changed much since he was 2 on DCL! No shorts (DCL requests that shorts not be worn in the dining room, although some do.) My son rotates between navy pants & Khaki pants and a short sleeve Polo shirt. On formal night, he wears the dark pants, dress shirt & tie and he fits in perfectly fine. Dh just wears a dark suit on formal night as well. You are going to LOVE DCL and be hooked forever!!! Again, WELCOME! (We are on the same deck!)
:thumbsup2

So excited too!! Just a reminder to all the FE in our group for 8/17. Please remember if you can to try to check back the week before the cruise at the list as we don't have our cabin number yet and in case there are changes!!

36 days and counting!!! Wooo hoooo:cool1:

Thanks for the clarification. I thought no shorts were for adults. Good to know for my daughter.

Wishing you pixie dust so that you get the category you want!

No Documents yet but DS passport came today ! Was worried they said 4 - 6 weeks 2 weeks ago maybe it was quick because it was just a renewal.

Wahoo!!! It won't be long now!!! :cool1::cool1:

PS- I just noticed that I have 2 Swedish Massages booked for myself (I think I booked them both before my friend & her son had to cancel, one was for her.) I don't want both-- They are both on Sea Days, both at 5:45pm... one on Aug 19th & the other on Aug 23rd. I plan on cancelling one of them. If anybody wants my slot we can coordinate a time where I can cancel & you can scoop it right up. I doesn't matter to me which one I keep.

So, if you want the slot, let me know asap.

Thanks!
