August 17, 2012 Magic in NYC!

Hi Gennifer,
:goodvibes
Glad to have you aboard! I am happy to add you to the lists on the magic1708 site. I do hope you will join in the Fish Extender. Just let me know who will be cruising with you, ages, and your cabin number.

If you are looking for other things to do while you wait there are lots of ideas on the DISboards. Count down the days with a paper chain, or prepare a pillowcase that the characters can autograph. Play lots of Disney trivia games in readiness for the on-board game show. Watch a Disney movie every night. The cruise is half the fun - the other half is the waiting and dreaming.

Disney1fan2002 - what's a documents watch? Why would I want to watch documents? I'm guessing, am I going to receive something in the mail??

Keever! Yes. one of the most exciting part of a Disney Cruise! Your documents..it includes the contract with the ship, and since most people do online check in now, it is not as much as it used to be, with all the forms that need to be signed and such. It will have your luggage tags, some packing tips, and different odds and ends about your upcoming cruise.

Will the documents give us our dining rotation?

Your dining rotation will be printed on your Key To The World card when you check in at the port. My dream rotation for this 8-night cruise will hopefully be this:

APLAPLA-there will only be 7 letters, because there is no formal dining rotation on Disney Day.

Hi
I just discovered the DIS app and am trying it out. So there is an app for that!
Now I am going to go and stand by my mailbox to await my documents.

Me: 39
Husband: 42 (turns 43 on August 22 during the cruise)
Daughter: 9
Daughter: 8

Our cabin is: 7586

Can't wait!!

Just found out that the port parking went up $5/day. $280 for the 8 nights.

We can take Amtrak from Providence for $258/roundtrip. Looks like we'll be riding the rails!

Will anyone else from the Boston area be on Amtrak Friday morning scheduled to get in at 10:20am Penn Station?

LOL! Happy 50th to your DH!!!

How's the document watch going? My two sons are sharing watch duty. The 16yo has the overnight shift. He's out there right now waiting. Oh, we know the mail has already come for the day, but we are hoping for a Magical Documents Fairy that might deliver in the wee hours of the night. If it does come through, he will blast the air horn 3 times to wake the family, then we will party in the street. When the neighbors wake up, they will come out and join us!

Looking to book something for Nassau for myself & my 12 year old DS. Last summer there we did Atlantis, we were with friends & actually rented a room at Comfort Inn. It ended up being the same price as Disney would charge for 2 & there were 4 of us. We want to do something different there this time. We were there in April & Dh & Ds did some off-roading jeep thing, since just DS & I am going on this cruise, don't want to do that (actually, I didn't even see it on the list). So anyway, what are all of you doing? I was thinking maybe the Blue Lagoon Sea Lion adventure or just maybe the Blue Lagoon Beach for the day trip. We have swam with the dolphins in Cozumel before but have never met a sea lion up close & personal! ;) So, just looking for some suggestions for the 2 of us!

Can't wait for this cruise :cheer2:... but on the other hand that means summer is over & school is starting again... :crazy2:

I know that we can bring unopened wine or liquor on board. Can you also bring bottled water?

Yup, I bring a case every cruise! It's like $35 for a case on this ship! I buy it by the port, put it in an empty small carry on bag I bring & tag it with a DCL luggage tag & leave it outside with the rest of my luggage. Then your stateroom host will deliver it to your room with the rest of your luggage.

Does anyone know about what time we will be passing the Statue of Liberty?

I assume we'll want to change for our early seating after the sail away party but don't want to miss anything! Maybe we should change before the party??

Thanks!

We passed the Statue of Liberty at around 5:30 on our 2 night cruise in June.

We have 1st dinner assignment :upsidedow . just wondering if we should skip MDR on first night and eat at one of other restaurants (getting the names of restaurants confused from Dream...is it Cabanas or Topsiders ?)

If your first MDR is Animators you would miss the show. You will have a chance to see the Statue of Liberty if that is your concern, the ship does not sail all that close to it but it is a nice sight. You would however miss seeing going under the Verrazano Bridge and out into the ocean with early dining.

It is Topsiders.
