August 17, 2010 - From Keys to shining Cay.

Change of plans...in a good way!

So, DH told his DCousin about the cruise and now he and his family are going to join us!!! DH and DCousin used to spend summers together in Savannah when they were kids. Both men are so excited (you'd think they are still kids:rotfl:)!

And the exciting part for me is that we upgraded to the Roy O. Disney suite to accomodate both families!!! It is a dream come true for me! I am happy to give anyone a tour of the room. Just let me know.

So the new family consists of:
DCousin Paul
DCousin's Wife Dana
DD9 Margo
DS6 William

They live in Savannah and this will be their first cruise. I'm still easing them into everything and haven't quite explained the FE's yet but DH thinks they will be up for it.

Our new room # is 8530.

Absolutely cannot wait!!!!

PARTY IN CINDI'S ROOM!!!!!!!

Ken

We booked Country Inn and Suites in Cape Canaveral using Priceline. I got it for $75 which is a bargain considering we can leave our car there and not pay the $15 day parking fee. It's like getting the room for free. :cool1:

I've been considering this as well. Thanks for sharing your priceline success. Did you get a kids' suite? We will not, however, have a car, so the parking perk doesn't help us. We will arrive by noon on the 16th, so I'm trying to decide whether we'd be better to stay right on the beach, or closer to the port. I'm trying to avoid taking DD's car seat, and I don't know if I can count on taxis having them.

If we end up getting the Country Inn, perhaps we could get the girls together for a brief play in the pool. I noticed you have a 6 year old and my DD is 5. She's quite shy initially, and I'd love for her to have the opportunity to meet a new friend who is on the cruise.

That's so awesome! Congratulations!

The rate includes free breakfast and it's located minutes from the port. They even have rooms that overlook the port. Shuttle service is also included.

Just another option in case anyone still looking for a room.

We're staying there too! I think I got it for $70 on Priceline, which I was happy with. Not as good as the $49 I've read about, but still really good! We won't have a car, but the price, free breakfast, and proximity to the port all sounded good to me.

If this is something you would seriously consider and don't think it would be too much of an imposition, I would LOVE to see the inside of the suite! If there are quite a few people who would like to "visit" you, maybe you could just set aside a little window of time (like 1/2 hour or so) and tell people to come by at that time. That way you wouldn't have to 1) endure drop ins and 2) keep the room clean LOL!

Anyway, let us know if you decide to do this. I've always wanted to take a peek into the suites!

We still haven't gotten our room assignment. But I did book a hotel the night before. Renaissance at the airport. Anyone familiar with this?
Now I just need suggestions for transportation to the port.

Can't wait!!!

We're at the Renaissance too! My friend stayed there last summer before our cruise and it was VERY upscale and beautiful.

I think it's a great idea to set aside some time. When we changed the reservation, DH immediately suggested hosting the DIS meet there but I was worried it would not accomodate our entire group or how our cabin mates would feel about it (They are new to Disney and I didn't want to overwhelm them with new concepts like DIS meets and FE's. I'm easing them into it. :rotfl:).

I thought I saw on a trip report (ages ago) that someone hosted a DIS meet in their suite. Has anyone heard of this?

I am open to suggestions as we get closer to planning the actual meet-up.

Cyndi

Savannah,

I believe the Priceline rates are for the family suites. But I'm going to call tomorrow to confirm. I would love to get our girls together!!! Let me know if you make your reservation.

Pam,

Glad we're going to have company! Maybe we can meet for a drink or by the pool. Would love to say hello!

Cyndi,

Congrats on the suite! Count me in for the tour if your schedule allows.

Cyndi Wow...that is awesome for you guys! What a great experience for you and your family!

My sister (SuzD) and I are considering upgrading at some point and wondered just out of curiousity, approximately how much was the upgrade to the Roy Disney Suite? This is our dream!!!

2518

That's our stateroom number! Got upgraded from a GTY 12 to a Cat 9 Oceanview. Very, very happy! :cheer2:

Hope everyone else who is waiting for room assignments gets a little pixie dust!

We finally got our room:
2150.
I'm thrilled with the upgrade, but slightly afraid of the location.
Does anyone know anything about this room?

Please update the FE list for the Solar Family.

thanks so much!!

We are right next door to you I believe (we are in 2152). We are traveling with my sister and she is in 2510 (which is all the way down from us, but..). We are also thrilled with our upgrade. I read the one review from someone who had this room in the past, and it seems like it will be fine. Most likely a bit noisy at port, but all of the rooms on this deck most likely are.

We are: Me (Lisa)
DH (Carl)
DS (Alec) 3.5 years
DD (Olivia) will be almost 20 months when we sail

This is the 2nd cruise for my husband and I, and the first for our kids. This is my sisters' 6th (I believe). They are party: Susan (my sis), her friend Julie, my nieces Katie (14) and Bobbie (4).

We are doing early dining. We are from Phoenix Arizona. Look forward to seeing you next door!

You will be a few doors down from my sister and her crew. They are in 2510. We are way down the hallway in 2152. Since we are traveling together, I thought maybe there was a typo and that we were supposed to be in 2512 next door, but alas, no typo. I'm thrilled with our upgrade though.

hello all...my family and I are cruising on the Aug17 Wonder also - we were also a GTY12 that got upgraded to Cat9 :woohoo:
....we have room2516

Less than 6 weeks to go!!!

If your sister and I don't switch rooms, it will still be nice. It will be me, Jill
DH (Chad) DS (Scott) 3 and DS (Sam) 7. It is our family's 2nd Disney cruise. We went last year and loved it so much we booked for the Dream next year. But when the prices came out for the Cat 12 GTY, I couldn't pass it up. Last year and next year we booked the cat 9, so I am more than thrilled to get it again! Even better that I didn't pay for it!!

As much as I can't wait, I don't want to rush the summer away!!

Welcome aboard Savannah7!!

Here is the current FE list. The cut off will be July 31. If you have a GTY room, please let me know what your room number is as soon as you get it - otherwise, no one can find you. First names are nice (but not required) as well.

2141 - Pam (pamcarey), Dan, Brian (DS 15), Amy (DD 10)
GTY - Angela (GrumpyBelle), Al, Jason (DS 15), Leah (DD 9)
5004 - Kelly (dkmjgal), Don, Megan (DD 14), John (DS 11)
5127 - Laura, Katie (DD 10), Kayla (DD 5)
5128 - Emily (emilyann415), John, Lily (DD 4)
6094 - Debbie (DumboFan), Kenny, Kate (DD 12)
6576 - Ken (kpros), Shari (spros), Staci (DD 18)
GTY - Jill (jsolar), Chad, Sam (DS 7), Scott (DS 3)
GTY - Kim (Kimber143), Tom, Tommy (DS 12), Marissa (DD 6)
8530 - Cyndi (cyndisun), Scott, Ben (DS 13)

You should get your room numbers several weeks before the cruise. If you don't, stop by my room and leave a note with your room number. I will make sure everyone participating gets an update.

As far as the rules go, it's totally up to each individual. In the past, I've seen people give something small each day. I've seen people give one item only. I've seen people give items geared to the age of the cruiser. So, I guess I'm saying that there are really no rules - as far as I'm concerned. We don't have a big group, so if everyone gives one item on the first day, then the rest of the trip will be dull. So, if you are only planning one item, you may want to wait a few days.

We are planning a couple of small things to space out over the cruise.

Anyway, that's my two cents.

Ken

Ken, can you please update us on your list?
Solar went from GTY to 2150.
Thanks so much!!
