August 16, 2011, Disney Dream - Part 4

On a storm related note, I work in a corporate park in Princeton, NJ. There is a lake in the center of the park that apparently flooded to the point where there is no access to the office buildings. Jeff is doing the no work on Monday dance :dancer: because the offices are closed.

DH works in Princeton too! Maybe you're neighbors?!

I teach freshman chemistry at Boston University... not a good example for the prof to set, cutting class for vacation. :sad2:

DD so far is liking Chemistry,I'm hoping she makes it her major :)
We'll see though, she loved it last year in honors, we'll see how the teacher is this year in AP Chem.

Yay! Go Chemistry!! :)

I'm actually a biochemist by training. :) Too bad I didn't meet your daughter on the cruise--I could have given her the scoop on all the things you can do with Chemistry and/or a Chem major. :thumbsup2

Ohhhh, If only I would have known :(
Well maybe we will just have to come and visit BU, I mean after all she is a junior this year and this is the year we are visiting colleges :)
Have to go to the website and check out the visiting schedule

If you are coming to BU to visit, definitely let me know! I'll be here except for Columbus Day wknd, when I'll be in WDW! :thumbsup2

Yeah, I read that whole thing... it sounds unlikely that it will happen, but I guess we'll have to wait and see. If anything, maybe they are floating the idea to get a response.

It was nice to meet you too! We never did get more information from DVC... but they did drop all the heavy Aluani advertising and switched back to AKV. From what I hear, they are "taking deposits" for Aluani but obviously can't process it yet. They obviously believe they'll be able to work it out with the HI gov't. I was glad we left early to go up to the spa drawing because my DP won a facial (which we gave to my mom)! :thumbsup2

That's cool she won a facial!!! and even better your mom got to use it!!!:thumbsup2 I didn't win the credit ...darn it! I even went to the last DVC sale pitch on the last day and didn't win! :rotfl2:

Free tickets to Hawaii, you gotta love that! :thumbsup2

Laura, free tickets to Hawaii!!! AWESOME!!!!!

It would be a shame if this comes to fruition, but we were all teenagers once and are still very creative. :thumbsup2

Oh my! I would like to think it's just a rumor, but first, it was posted by Barb, and second the 11 port opening started the same way, and that turned out to be true.
I think it would be pretty hard to smuggle it on, since they scan all the luggage.

It just seems a shame that they would do this. The level of service seems to be going down and the price keeps increasing!! Disappointing DCL!!

Yes the prices are increasing rapidly, and may just be too high for me pretty soon.

I agree the price keeps increasing and the level of service is lacking on the Dream!! I sent a letter to DCL today expressing my disappointment in my dining situation!!

I'm upset about the alcohol thing as well. It is one of the things that I talk about when people say "why should I pay more for DCL." Being able to bring on alcohol, free soda station, better service. Well- based on service on this cruise, they lost in that area, but, I will give them the benefit of the doubt that they are training a lot of people on a new ship and will also be training people for the Fantasy. But, my money only goes so far. I like being able to bring my "drinks of choice" on board and not have to pay so much for a glass of wine and I get the kind of wine that I like to drink.

I am upset about it too. It really is upsetting that they keep taking the "extras" away and charging more for less!!

Hmmm...Something like www.rumrunnerflasks.com :lmao:

Looks like the alcohol restriction is for real:
http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=42442213&postcount=114

I would say somewhere between 1-2 bottles per person was right for us... 1 bottle if we only drank it in the stateroom, 2 when we also brought it to dinner (and paid the corkage fee).

I have to say I don't know the official US customs rule on alcohol purchases, as I've only ever purchased in US ports that we stopped at along the way (having assumed they were irrelevant to customs, as they were purchased in the US with US tax).

I think 1 bottle per person may be reasonable on a 3 day or even a 4 day, but anything over that, no way! That wouldn't even be one glass of wine per day. And maybe if their cruise prices weren't going up so high it would be easier to swallow, but they keep going up up up!
Maybe my Disney vacations will just have to stay on land from now on. I missed my Boardwalk this year, sniff sniff.
