August 16, 2011, Disney Dream - Part 4

Is anyone renting a room at the comfort suites at Nassau to use the Atlantis paradise resort? Is it worth it? I understand the water park at Atlantis is great! It beats the Dcl excursion price.

We have the same situation. Our flight comes in at 9:40. I would be interested to hear if budget has I grace period. I believe it may be up to 1 hour. We will probably be hanging out with you at the budget terminal until 11am when the shuttles leave.

We will be at the budget spot too, although I'm not sure what time... How long is the drive from Orlando?

Good Morning Fellow Cruisers!!

last year it took us an hour from WDW to get to port...

Katie was excited to hear from Sarah, BTW! :)

Good morning!

We're so excited, we leave for WDW in 10 days!:yay::woohoo::dance3::cheer2:

Now, I have to work on the details of Phillip's b.day party. Have to confirm everything with the Lego Store. He's so excited about it!

I am having DH take our rental car, drive me and the kids and all our luggage to port, drop me and the kids and all our luggage off, drive back to the hotel, park and then take the shuttle back to port. I don't know how this is going to work with the new way things are being done so we will have to see how it goes.

We are leaving our car at CIS and taking thier shuttle to the port.

I didn't get an email from DCL either!!

I originally planned on Mario driving us from CI&S, dropping us all at the port w/ the luggage and then him going back to the hotel, parking, and taking the shuttle back.

Part of the reason was thinking it would be easier to just haul our own stuff in the van, and the other part was that ds is 5yo and doesn't fit in a seat belt w/o a booster seat. I know that FL law allows him to ride w/o a booster but I'm a volunteer CPST and understand that the laws of physics will supersede the laws of FL in the case of a crash situation.

With all the port confusion I have decided to suck up my booster seat concerns (but I will still be freaked out during the ride) and just have all of us go on the CI&S shuttle.

We also received the DCL email.

Last night I took Bethany to order new glasses since the contact lenses didn't work out. I love that our eye insurance covers glasses 100%. I asked about getting a pair of prescription sunglasses for her for the trip but they are over $100 which I'm not warm and fuzzy about paying for a 10yo that has broken her last two pairs of glasses. They are supposed to come in within a week...hopefully they won't be delayed!

Only 10 days until we leave! I'm having a difficult time concentrating at work which I am sure will get worse next week!

I was looking at cruises to (re)book onboard on the disneycruise website, and I had thought that the price of our Alaska booking went up (which really bummed me out because I am hoping to rebook onboard for the 10% discount). BUT-- I just looked today, and I realized that Disney now includes the vacation insurance in the quote--so that's why the price looked like it went up. Phew! If these prices can just hold out until the 16th....

Anyone know what happens to the other half of your deposit when you rebook a reservation on board? Can you get it back (at least until PIF date)?

That also means that the prices on the 2-day NYC I was looking at are also a bit less... ;) May need to book this onboard and use it as a dummy date if the timing ends up being bad....

For anyone else who's checking prices, take note of the included vacation insurance cost in the quote.

I noticed that too when I was checking prices last night. I first thought, oh no, the price went up, then I looked closer over on that right pricing box and saw they started adding travel insurance again. I wonder how much OBC, if anything, we would get from DCL with a 2-night? Does anyone know?

When are you thinking of going to Alaska? Our family is going on the 8/13/12 one and I started the meet thread for that one so come on over and join us if you decide to go on that cruise!

I will have to go look at my OBC for the NYC one. I know my TA gave me an OBC!!:):thumbsup2

WOW 20 pages already!!!! You guys really are trying to get to 250. I'll try & help any way I can.:thumbsup2

Hi Kristin,
How is your day going? The girls are at sports camp and I'm enjoying a quiet house. It is just the dog and me and our handyman who is working on some electrical stuff. We are headed to the post office after I pick them up to send something up your way! :)

Not expensive at all...the 8x10s are around $15-20 and the larger ones were maybe $30. They're prints, open stock. I think Downtown Disney may even have a poster size one (of the sand buckets). Now that I think of it, World of Disney might have a few in the Jewelry room. If you use your Disney Visa you save 10% over $50

Thanks for the information. We will probably be looking for at least one of these....maybe more.

Good Morning Fellow Cruisers!!

Morning Kristin!

Yep, we will be going in the shuttle. The other way just seems so complicated. Hope the shuttle driver doesn't mind our 8 huge suitcases! :rotfl2:

I'm happy to hear that the prints are not that expensive, I think I'm going to buy a couple to put in my new bedroom. Last night my hubby caught me holding up the picture Jen made, looking at it as if it were a picture on the wall and asked what I was doing.....um nothing honey! ;)

I called Enterprise today and asked when they start shuttles and they told me at 7:30 AM, I wonder if they would let a shuttle in to drop off before 11:00? Not that I'm planning on getting there at 7:30! He also said that the shuttles (theres 2 of them) from there hold 15 and 20 people at a time.

FYI to anyone taking the shuttle from the Residence Inn....

I called this morning to ask about taking the shuttle from the hotel to port. The lady told me that DCL had told them they could not have shuttles leave their location until 11:15 and so their shuttle leaves at 11:15. She told me there are only 1 mile from port and it takes about 5 minutes.

I am a bit disappointed as I was hoping they would leave BY 11:00 (possibly at 10:45). I will now just hope that they are not running behind and leave later then 11:15 and that we get on the shuttle.

She also told me they only have one shuttle going to port and only at the 11:15 time and so I am going to be sure that my family is ready and there early to be sure we all get on (and all our luggage does as well).

I would call Enterprise back and clarify that it is for DCL to see if they have different shuttle times. I know that was the case with the Residence Inn. She was VERY firm in the fact that DCL is telling all the shuttles what time they can leave at.

As of now, we are planning to go on the 8/20/12 cruise. We can wave as we pass in the Seattle terminal!

I would guess the onboard-booking OBC would be the same as for the 3-day cruises? Right now, I can't remember what any of the amounts were. But I thought it was listed as depending on either less than 7 or 7+ days and what your CC status was. Actually, now I'm not sure how much OBC we even have per stateroom for this cruise (which was booked onboard). Anyone remember what the onboard-booking OBC amounts are?

Does anyone know how close the CI&S is to the Residence Inn in Cape Canaveral?

Right now we have reservations at the Residence Inn but when I check rates, the CI&S is cheaper right now.
