August 16, 2011, Disney Dream - Part 4

I might have to get some of those too! What kind of frame do you have yours in? I need to frame mine!

The sandbucket one I have in two sizes, an 8x10 and a larger 11x14. The smaller one is in my bathroom and framed in a navy blue thick wood frame, like a molding. The larger prints are in blue mats in a small/narrow silver metal 16x20 frame. I had gotten them for our finished basement which I decorated as a beach theme, but I'm thinking of moving them up to my hallway/entryway so I can see them more. There's another artist print I have of one of the ships at Castaway, a watercolor, by Larry Dotson. I see he's got a new print out too so I may be coming home with a few new pieces . My parents bought an original lithograph of Castaway-it's got the hammock and umbrellas in it with the ship in the background. When you buy a framed David Doss he uses a weathered white wood frame. I prefer to frame them myself (plus a lot cheaper that way using stock size mats and frames).

That's so funny! Why did you think you were putting on the snorkel gear? Did you freak out when they started talking about the sharks?

I'm not sure what he was thinking, but I actually thought it was going to be those lame fish on strings like in the old 20,000 Leagues ride (which I miss :sad1:). :rotfl:

And yeah we freaked a bit about the sharks (although it is called "Shark Reef" so you would have thought we would get a hint!). If I had known beforehand I would have had time to process it before getting in the water, but finding out just before the CM said...swim fast straight across and don't touch the fish...made me freak a bit.

It didn't help that there were stingrays on the platform as we were trying to get out!

I'm kind of glad we did this pre-kids. I'll tell them about it, but better that we didn't act like complete fools w/ young children with us!

The two I have came matted in white, but no frame.

Not sure how, but Mario and I had NO idea that there were real fish in there until we were IN the water! :rotfl2:

Picture us easing into the water thinking it was awfully cold and listening to the CM as he ran through his instructions ending w/ "please don't touch the fish!" FISH???:lmao:

Ummm. Thank you!! I had no idea there were real fish/sharks at TL. :confused3

Jen - If you get the image of the buckets cleaned up (I was looking at the images on my phone, so I'm not sure what they really look like), I'd love a blank version if you don;t mind sharing. Thanks!!!

Good Evening Everyone...Back from a very loong school meeting...We had to have it tonight because of everyone on our executive board is leaving for vacation.

Rough afternoon here my mom got some upsetting news today....Eleven years ago she had breast cancer. She had her mammogram and ultrasound on Friday. They told her she was fine. As she was on the phone telling me this the place was beeping through. They wanted her back for more pictures today. Well her and my dad went back today. She has the same thing back on the other-side now. She has to wait for the surgeon to call her tomorrow to schedule the biopsy. This is excatlly what she went through before. It just stinks to get this kind of news 9 nights before we are all supposed to be leaving. Now we are not sure is the surgeon going to want/need to operate right away or start treatments before we all are supposed to go. My parents want to still go but who knows what will happen now!!:scared1::scared1:

Kristin - I am so sorry to hear this news. I know that it must be so very stressful and upsetting. Please know that I am hear for you and that we will be thinking of your family and your mom. I hope to hear that you can all enjoy this wonderful vacation together as planned before she has to come back and deal with the treatment plan.

OH NOOOOO!!!!!!:scared1: I hope it's just a false reading!!!:grouphug:Maybe you will get better news tomorrow!!!

Ok, I'm caught up from Part 3. See, you guys made it after I left. DD HAS CONTACTS!! She said they're a little itchy but we go back on Friday for a re-check. Now that she can see she had to point out to me that my kitchen chandelier needs dusting :rotfl2:

The prints you like (Sandbuckets, M&M at Poly) are by David Doss. I have a few of them myself and can't wait to get the cruise specific ones (he's got two). Here's one, I couldn't find a clean copy:

Congrats to your DD!!! I bet she will love being able to see and not having to wear glasses!:cool1::cool1:

Thanks, I doubt that it is a false reading. We knew at some-point that it would probally come back just wish we did not have to deal with it 9 days before we are scheduled to leave.....

Sorry, to be the "debbie-downer" tonight!!

 I'm sorry this is happening Kristin. This isn't a fun road to travel, especially so close to your vacation. My thoughts and prayers are with your mom and family.

Thank you Christine, our family really appreciates it!!

:cool1: We made it to page 250 on the last thread:cool1:

Yay!! Part 3 is ready to be closed!!! Now I can enjoy part 4!!:woohoo:

We made it to part 4! I wonder how many pages we'll get to before the cruise?

We did a great job posting this afternoon! I can't believe we had over 10 pages and closed it out!

Wonder if we can close down this thread too before we leave??LOL!!

Oh dear....I don't think that will be happening but this is a chatty group!

I got a reply back from DCL about a private champagne tasting and they said no go because you have to reserve stuff a month in advance and our cruise is only 15 days away. Bummer! I think I'm going to go with the mixology instead of the champagne tasting because I really like mixed drinks and the class is a bit later so we can enjoy Nassau for a little longer. I really wanted to try Pink but I guess I can always go get a glass at the bar.

Thanks for trying Terri. I am going to have to decide which one I really want to go to.

hey all, found my way over here as well...
We were at our cabin for the weekend - it was a long weekend here in Alberta! When Jim and I were sitting at the lake watching the kids play we thought.. nice next week we will be sitting in Florida watching the kids play in the pool of the house we rented!

We leave on Saturday... will start thinking about packing tomorrow or Wednesday...

Only 5 days to go!

Isn't it great when you get so close that you know within a week everything you will be doing is on vacation? :cloud9:

Not a DCL question, but since many of you have spent tons of time at WDW while I am a DLR person... I thought I would ask here...

While we are at the rented house pre cruise, we are hoping to go to either Blizzard beach or Typhoon Lagoon. Thoughts about which is better, tips on when/etc to go...

We are thinking either the Sunday or Monday prior to boarding the cruise is when we will go...

Thanks!

We actually like Blizzard Beach better because of the slides but we haven't been to Typhoon Lagoon in a long time and I always enjoyed my time there as well. They both are great really.

Glad to hear that DD was able to get her contacts! :thumbsup2

The David Doss prints are the best. I really need to consider getting some of these - they would be perfect up at our cabin as the colors match and our cabin has that beach feel to it.

Oh no Kristin!!! I am so sorry!! I will being praying that everything turns out fine for your mom!! I will be thinking about you all!!!

Anyone,, going to Blizzard Beach after the cruise??

Thanks, Jen. I hope we can enjoy a bit of the vacation too but deep down I know if my parents do go we all will be thinking of what we have waiting for us at home!!

The timing does suck (for lack of a better word) but even if you are thinking about what is to come....I hope you can enjoy the vacation with them and the support of all your friends who will be there with all of you. I have been so excited to meet your mom and dad and I hope that it works out that I can still do so. We will all be praying for her!

Sorry, to be the "debbie-downer" tonight!!

You are not a "debbie-downer"...it is a tough thing. Can't say it enough though - you have tons of friends here and we will be there to help you and your mom enjoy your vacation together, laugh and have fun in your happy place and just be there! :grouphug:

Anyone is welcome to use the blank version! I have cleaned it up and will post it here.

I am also posting how I personalized mine. If anyone needs help personalizing theirs, let me know and I can help out.
