August 16, 2011, Disney Dream - Part 4

My FIL is a frustrated amateur weather geek. Really.. all winter we receive multiple emails every day updating us on impending snow storms.

I have been holding off asking him about the Caribbean weather ...too early and I get too many updates!

I will email him today and pass along any updates he sends.

The man is truly a geek about this stuff. He LOVES watching the weather channel and has all kinds of internet sites he goes to so he can read the satellite info as well as all the data the weather service uses to make their predictions. :sigh:

In other news... I have one FE finished and 2 FEs half done. 1 FE has to be purchased next weekend, and dd and I may be working on something on the train ride down...still deciding on that last one. All of them are small items.

My FE arrived on Saturday. It is simple...but I like it!

12 days until we leave! :cheer2:

I am getting worried about traffic around DC in order to get to Lorton and the AutoTrain. Still trying to work out a good departure time. We have to check in by 2pm or we don't make the train. Google maps is saying the trip is 3hrs, 21min. I figure if we leave by 8am that gives us a 2.5hr cushion. Do you think we need more?

I even had my Google Maps App open on my phone with the traffic overlay all Saturday morning, monitoring traffic along 95 and around the DC Loop (it was all green until 12:30, then a few yellow spots popped up).

I'm planning too much aren't I?

I found an Android App called Ship Mate - Disney Cruise Line. It is supposed to allow you to get specific info about your cruise...but our sailing isn't listed as an option! GRRRR

There are some nice maps there of the ship though and they insist that it is available offline (so you can access it at sea w/o obscenly expensive charges).

I'm not sure how I am going to get through the next two weeks at work. I took this Friday afternoon off to run some errands (busy out of the house all day Saturday and Sunday is final packing day!). I just want to leave NOW!!!

Youe FE looks very cute - just how I like them;)

I'm not sure how to fit DeLaurentis on it... darn husband and his abnormally long last name!

Its funny thinking about names - the cm on the mike when you enter the ship can never pronounce our surname (and we think its pretty simple - Jobling) the last 3 cruises we just got them to announce Helen & Dave from England

Hopefully it will all be gone by the 16th - ALthough you did mention you have been on a few cruises that got diverted ? right:rolleyes1

:lmao:

Several of us were on that last diverted one!!! but it was all good!:)

I'm sure they will murder ours.

I don't think our last name is that difficult to say, but apparently others have issues pronouncing it. That is handy weeding out unwanted phone calls though! ;)

Our name is so easy and boring...might have to give DCL a different name! :rotfl2:

They always just ask us our name so they can listen to how we say it, I'm sure. I told hubby if he was an ol o lopolis (:rolleyes1) (he's Greek) I would have kept my maiden name which is even more boring than Jen's (her words hahaha).

When are you taking the auto train? We are going down 8/11. Maybe we will be on at the same time. We leave 7 hours away so may drive part way 8/10 so we don't have to leave so early on 8/11. :cutie:

We are going down on Saturday, the 13th and coming back on Saturday the 27th.

With 7hrs of travel time I think I would go part way the night before as well. We are half of that so I think that is doable that morning.

Do you have internet access to post while you are away? I would love to hear about your ride down if you can post about it!

Hi Sherri,

I usually start watching the weather about a 7 days out!!

thanks Kristen!

My FIL is a frustrated amateur weather geek. Really.. all winter we receive multiple emails every day updating us on impending snow storms. That would've been me too back when I still did hospital nursing. I would watch those pending storms like a hawk. The idea of driving to work in a blizzard or getting stuck there for days. :scared1:

Nice thing about driving down to that area on Saturday is not having a rush hour. There are always going to be some spots on the D.C. beltway that are going to have slowdowns.

Count me in on that one!!!

Kristin , would you be able to give me your travel agents buissness card on board . - I think I'm going to book a dummy date but I might do on the quiet and not tell Dave ;);)

I might be booking and not telling DH either.

Our name always gets messed up too. In pronunciation and spelling.

Kristin ~ I noticedon our cruise page that they are requesting the TA's business cards when you book onboard. Do you know if we need them even if we're using the same TA? Will I need Carol's card if I've used her before?

Hello all. Happy Monday!!
I hope everyone is having a great day!!
I am going to continue posting on part 3 until we reach 250 so they can close it down. I just hope I won't be talking to myself!!:lmao::lmao:
