I'm reading my PassPorter and came across the general menu for Castaway Cay and I'm concerned.

I have the oddest children on the planet in the fact that neither eat hamburgers or hot dogs, basically nothing that anyone would have at a BBQ.

They love their veggies, as well as pasta, pizza, quesadillas, etc...but put a burger or a hot dog in front of them and they will eat only the bun.

What are my options for lunch for them on Castaway Cay other than fruit, frozen yogurt, and chocolate chip cookies?

I'm pretty sure chicken is there (BBQ chicken on the bone)?? Will they eat that? There's always the adult food at Serenity Bay. You could probably go there & bring back something they like. I've never been past the family beach, so I can't say specifically what they have, but I know it's different. If I remember correctly, they get the lobster tails left over from the previous night's dinner????

Yeah they are picky. Dd will eat chicken (prefers it breaded though) and ds will only eat it on the rare occasion (we think his issue is that he has to chew it too much! Can't eat it as fast as the other stuff!) but definitely not w/ BBQ sauce on it!

95% of the time I think it is amazingly awesome that my two will down copious amounts of broccoli, corn, peas, cauliflower, carrots, etc ...it is that other 5% of the time when we are at a party or a BBQ and there is nothing that they will eat that it bothers me.

I posted the same question over on PassPorter and someone said they have corn on the cob? That might work for a snack. If I make them eat a large breakfast and then they can have some corn and fruit for lunch we may be able to get away w/ that.

Anyone else going to be @ VB before the cruise that would like to meet up? Let me know I am happy to organize a mini-meet!! Thanks,,!!

Sounds good to me! Just tell me when and where! Only 33 days until we leave for Vero! (a little beyond excited!) :cool1::cool1: I have to start looking at the kids clothes, but I really do not want to overpack! My landsend order should arrive tomorrow and I think I am going to take the kids to the mall today, since the weather here is iffy.

Our port arrival time is still 11-1130am. Has not changed at all. We are renting a car and I got a great price on a Ford Escape, $350 for the WHOLE trip. add the cost to park at the pier and it is still less than any other price I had gotten and we avoid the shuttle to the pier problem. I know thearrival time thing is frustrating and confusing, but as long as they let me get on the ship before it leaves I will be happy!

To Michele, (with one L) WELCOME ABOARD!!!

Still thinking of dh dropping us off at the port and taking the shuttle from CS&I after parking there.

For all those that have done this before.... how well does it work in reverse?

With the port not officially "opening" until 11am, can dh take the shuttle back to CS&I after the cruise and come back to get us & the luggage at the port or will we all have to use the shuttle.

Would he have any issues getting back "in" to get us?

Will they eat cereal?? The have the boxes of cereal at breakfast and you can take them with you. Also, you can go back to the ship, eat and come back onto the island. If that is a possibility I would set up camp close to where the tram drops you off and this would make your commute back to the ship shorter.

The cereal is a great idea Mary!

Thanks I feel better about lunch now.

I am not thinking we want to trek back to the ship for lunch...but it is nice to know all of our options!

I think I read on a post b Kristin that they mailed our cruise documents on July 1st! Has anyone gotten theirs?? Once they come, it will be really close!!

I can wait up for ya!:thumbsup2 The two hotels are right next to each other. You literally walk through the parking lot to get from to the other.

We are renting from Avis. Who are you renting from?

Right now I am booked with Thrifty, they are killing Avis on price right now. We'll see what happens as it gets closer. I thought it we were at the same place, the guys could stick together and shuttle back together, so that we could still get dropped off with all the luggage.

My son does not eat sandwiches. He takes a bowl of cereal to school everyday for lunch. (next year he can get hot lunch at school. Yeah!) He also doesn't like milk in his cereal, so I take it with me alot. I take it on planes, long car rides, etc. It is eay to carry.

Both kids will eat PB&J...well dd prefers fruit spreads (blueberry or apricot) instead of grape jelly, but will eat it if there... but no traditional sandwiches (lunchmeat, etc).

I was going to leave the cereal bars in the van to use at WDW for breakfast, but maybe I'll pack some for the cruise too!

In past cruises (before the Dream), we did this all the time when my husband picks up the rental car. We wait at the curb with all the luggage and he has no problem coming back in to get us. But, I am so uncertain what will be happening this cruise. I think we will play it by ear and see how it goes regarding drop off/pick up vs us all (4 kids + luggage + strollers + car seats) taking the rental car shuttle.

Luckily we will have a couple cruises before us, where people will hopefully post how their experience was that we can base our plans off of.

Hi everyone!

Just want to introduce myself and my family... I'm Michele (with one "L", like Kristin noted...: ) my husband is Troy, and kinda quiet, my daughter Kylie is 11 and loves horses, and my son Carter is 9. I've wanted to get on here for a while but was so busy with school stuff and organizing a walkathon in my son's honor... he has a genetic condition called Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS for short), and we've done five fundraisers in his honor... He's a great kid, very outgoing and loving. He has a speech delay and sometimes acts a little bit younger than his age, but loves making new friends (and LOVES his best girls "HopeHanna"... : ), and enjoys the same things other kids his age enjoy. Just thought I'd share this information with everyone so if any of the children in our group notice he seems "different", they can know why that is so... hope no one minds my mentioning this...
We're sooooo looking forward to meeting everyone and toasting to new friends! If anyone's kids want to email Kylie or Carter, let me know...they don't have email accounts, but can use mine! Thanks for all the warm welcomes!! :rotfl: :cool1:

Hi Michele! Although my kids are at camp this week and next, when they return, I am sure they would love to email your kids... Sarah is 11 as well...and what I think she was looking forward to the most about camp was their horse day :) Phillip is 8 but very outgoing and loves being with other people :). Our home email is cware@shaw.ca if Kylie and Carter want to send them a note

I last checked in on the thread last night and came back to 6 new pages.

Welcome to Michele with 1 L . I feel for you -- cause everyone always spells Sherri wrong. I don't mind you mentioning your son. For some reason, I have heard of Prader-Willi syndrome before but just can't place why. My 15 yr old is immature for his age and we're getting ready to start testing him. I've talked him out of hanging out in the teen area -- he is just so not ready for all of that.

Anyone, see this thread??::

There are some AWESOME ideas!!

I love seeing what everyone makes.

OMG...I almost forgot!

I have my digital version of PassPorter's 2011 Cruise Guide! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

The actual books won't be available until sometime in August. Since I already have the 2010 version in my binder I just ordered the online version of the 2011 book. YAY!!!

I have only read bits and pieces so far but it is awesome! :yay:

YAY....I have it on my Kindle too! :yay: :cool1: :yay: :cool1: :yay: :cool1:

So now if anyone needs any last minute info...I'll have it right there at my fingertips!

I went over to the Passporter site the other day - hadn't been there in so long. Wanted to see if they had cruise books and saw it wasn't coming out till August. Mine is a couple of years old. Didn't read enough about the e-book. I think I will take a look. Good idea about putting it on the Kindle. I still haven't put stuff like that on my Nook - thanks for the reminder

I think I read on a post b Kristin that they mailed our cruise documents on July 1st! Has anyone gotten theirs?? Once they come, it will be really close!!

For those that use a TA -- do the documents come from TA or from DCL? I can't remember from 2 yrs ago.

....OK ..... back to work I go.

I recall eating PASTA at the Castaway buffet , at least two different choices ; would you children eat pasta ? I remember also breaded chicken , I LOVE it !

Take some of the prepackaged cereal from breakfast besides corn on the cob & bread that should hold them over til they get back on board.

Also on the buffet is couscous, tomato salad, banana bread and Lays potato chips. If your kids eat PB you could order the Uncrustables from room service the night before and keep them in your cooler and pack them for the day. Yogurt from breakfast could work too, maybe pack a small lunchbox/bag and put a ziplock with ice to keep things cool (or purchase the small one onboard with 6 waters for around $15).

You were a chatty bunch last night! I had to weed through 6 pages of new posts...

Welcome Michele! We're from CT too! :wave2:
I would love to say I decorate cakes too, but I still haven't got the hang of it. I'm in the process of making Hello Kitty cake pops for my niece's birthday party this weekend. Those I can handle.

I've placed 3 separate orders with Lands End and going on my 4th. I noticed on my shipping notification that I reordered a suit in the wrong color so have to place another if I want it. Current promo is extra 30% off swim and free shipping over $50. Code EXTRA30 pin 2387 (sorry, I'm a shopping enabler). Luckily I can do returns at our local store so I don't feel like it's a waste of my money to keep ordering if I have to return some.

Add us to the CI&S Monday night stay. We're traveling with 4 other families. My brother, nephews and parents will be there Sunday and Monday, the rest of us will arrive sometime Monday night after hanging out at the parks or Beach Club pool.

Having 5 boys over for a sleepover tonight :dance3:. Plan is to go see Transformers first. Not sure if the weather will hold out for sleeping under the stars.
