Hello all! The girlfriends and I had a blast in Atlantic City. Gambled a little, as I told my husband we still have to work to pay the mortgage, but I didn't lose the house either! LOL!! I have never been a big gambler...too afraid to throw my money away! One of my friends won $2000 and the other a few hundred, they never tell us when they lose!!LOL!!

Hope everyone that is not feeling 100% is better soon. I have soo many post to catch up on I feel like I can't keep track of who is who! Sorry, that sounds terrible.

I have been working on car rentals, but from what I have read the discounts seem to go up as we get closer, so I'll keep watching.

I have to get started on the FE gifts, but lots going on now. I may have to changs my plan of what to do with us now flying. Or maybe I will ship it.

Anyone with a 8-10 year old girl (Any age really) looking for a pen pal for before the cruise, my daughter Catherine is really looking for emails! Everyday she asks if she has gotten any. Please PM me your email or your request and I will send you hers. Thanks! I can't believe 70 days!!!

My youngest DD, Allie, is 8 - she'll turn 9 in July. I'm sure she'd love to exchange emails with Catherine. I'll PM you my email address (I haven't let Allie get her own yet - just not ready to make that leap yet).

And if anyone has an older girl, I'm sure my other DD, Elizabeth, would like to exchange emails with other girls before the cruise. Elizabeth is nearly 12 and just finishing 6th grade. PM me if your DD might be interested.

Glad you and your girlfriends had a good time in Atlantic City and you did not loose any money. I have not been to Atlantic City since I graduated from college and that was in 1997. That was one of our senior trips during senior week and since I went to a women's college it was eith my girlfriends. We had so much fun. I want to go again. You have me thinking about planning a trip to Atlantic City with my girlfriends now. Where did you stay?

My friends and I graduated from college a few years before you! (my college went to WDW during my senior week) Any way we stayed at Resorts but we danced at the Borgata. The Gypsy Bar had live bands Fri and Sat and they were great.

Since I was talking about packing, here are some tips regarding packing/luggage that I have gathered from the DIS. Add some more tips if you wish since I am really starting to think about how much stuff I will need to pack.

LUGGAGE/PACKING (Besides your, passport &/or birth certificate, picture ID, clothes, underwear, & swimsuit)

1. Pack half the clothes and twice the cash.

2. Roll you clothes. You can fit more in the suitcase if you do this.

3. Bring an empty duffle bag exclusively for souvenirs and gifts (member cruise) and/or dirty laundry. Invariably, you wind up going home with way more stuff than you came with.

4. 2.5 gallon zip bags makes packing and travel much easier. Put socks, underwear, and a complete kid’s outfit in individual Ziploc bags. Then roll it to get the air out or compress it somehow. If your bags are searched at the airport, your clothes will not get touched and/or it’s much easier to stay organized especially with a full stateroom. If kids can dress themselves, then they will know to just grab a bag and everything they need will be in that bag.

5. Instead of packing the normal sized toothpaste, shaving cream, deodorants and stuff, buy the sample sized ones and leave them behind when you come home. They are almost used up anyway.

6. Pack your clothes that you don't want to iron on hangers and in dry cleaning bags for your suit bag - you won't have nearly as many wrinkles (your drycleaner will give you extra bags if you ask for them).

7. Pack one suitcase full of stuff, and then put that suitcase inside another one. Then when you get where you're going, you've got an extra, empty suitcase for all the stuff you know you're going to buy!

8. In case of lost luggage, make sure that each person has some full outfits in each suitcase.

9. To cut down on clothing, bring a nice pair of black slacks. They go with just about everything, and just change tops each night. Plus you only need one pair of nice black dress shoes to go with them.

10. If and ONLY IF the weather is not too hot and not too humid the nights you wear a polo to dinner, the next day you can wear the same shirt (if you didn't get it to pitted/stinky partying the night before). You should be able to pack 3 or 4 less shirts (therefore less stuff in the suitcase).

11. Save your old socks, underwear, swimsuits, etc. and have them make a one way trip with you. By tossing out old clothes you'll have LOTS of room for souvenirs et al when you pack to come home.

I am seriously going to look into an Atlantic City trip so thank you. My high school did senior week at WDW but I did not go. The consensus for college was to do day/cheap trips. So, we went to Atlantic City (like I said), Six Flags (Jackson, NJ), and I do not remember where else we went to. Those are the two that I really enjoyed. Plus, I helped plan the Atlantic City trip.

Ok Jen, you asked for it, MPLS Is officially the hottest city in the country today!!! Crazy! And in 2 days it's going to be in the 60's LOL.

Hello everyone!

School is still crazy!!! But just two more weeks to go after this week is over  Trying to catch up on this post!

Sending get well wishes to the ladies with foot/ankle injuries! :wizard:
Kristin, I hope the result for the MRI come back with news of no surgery :flower3:

I can't believe we are down to just 70 days until we're on the Dream!!! :woohoo:

I'm also making a packing list...Each cruise I try to cut things out. I've been getting better. :thumbsup2 Packing cubes have been amazing for packing less, and they are also so convenient because you can just place the cubes right into the drawers and the steamer trunk.

We were not really happy with our stateroom assignment as we were GTY and did not get to choose which room to stay in. I contacted the travel agent to see if we could move up to an 11A OR 11B so we could select which room to be in and she said the remaining ones would also be GTY. So I kept checking the DCL site everyday to see if anything opened up. I finally saw that all 3 category 11 options were available. But when I emailed the agent she said all were still GTY. She said the best thing we could do if we wanted a change was to go back in the GTY pool to see if we could get a better room. So, we are now back in the GTY pool. We'll see what we get. Since we really didn't like our original assignment, whatever else we get can't be much worse. Who knows, I'm just keeping my fingers crossed now and hoping for the best.

Happy planning and packing all! :wave2:

Packing cubes are great. I started using them on our last cruise and it was so convenient.

Good luck on getting a good room. pixiedust:

Good Luck with your room!!

I booked the Nassau Segway tour that was mentioned here. :thumbsup2
We told the kids over dinner and they're excited to do it since they thought they were too young to ride one.

Off topic:
Anyone have any Father's Day gift suggestions for my soon to be 70 year old dad? He'll be on our cruise, thought about booking him along on the Segway but not sure it's something he'd want to do. I looked up on Ebay the Admiral Donald Duck statue or a print from the artist we like but they are both way overpriced and I know in 10 weeks I can just buy one myself onboard. I could do a stateroom credit or something along those lines but I like to pride myself on my creativity or at least paying attention for hints or ideas. I'm stumped. :confused3

I did buy him a Pirates in the Carribean t-shirt since we've decided to not go full out costume this time around. Heads up...Hot Topic has them 50% off and since they're on clearance they're buy one/get one 50% off of the clearance price. Only $9 for one!!

We LOVE packing cubes. Only way to travel . My favorite is ebags product. We have a color for everyone in the family & it really keeps you organized in a cramped stateroom.

Where do you buy them? This is the first I heard of them. I am thinking that I should get them.

@Harry -- The girls are loving the pictures and emails from Keira and will be happy to see another email from her when they get home from school!

Keira enjoys the emails as well... she "has" to type them herself - apparently all that mom & dad are needed for is to attach a picture!! :rotfl:
