Anyone interested in doing a Grand Gathering with Jen and I? We were thinking after the cruise any day for the Tony's breakfast. I will be calling on Friday morning to set it up!!

What day - we would love to join you.

Janeanne

We could have gotten close to that price if we wanted a compact but we plan on spending the week driving around FL and wanted a bigger vehicle. Our biggest problem is that our rental does not include a Saturday night. Since we are renting Sunday to Saturday (based on cruise ending and our flight home), we can't use many discounts as they all need a Saturday night rental. :confused3

I booked with Budget last year October an intermediate car a weekly rate of $148 giving a total of $216 for the 9 days we'll be using it. Got the extra discounts using the Entertainment book codes.

I copied this from the sticky for everyone that is interested.

Boxes Sent the Ship Ahead of Cruise - PLEASE follow these instructions carefully!!!!!! UPDATED AS OF 2/25/2009
• ONE box per stateroom, no exceptions.
• The package must have the guest full name, ship, sailing date, stateroom number or GTY if you have not been assigned a stateroom number.
• The package also must have a packing slip attached to the outside of the box that details the contents of the package. For prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient. Your list may or may not be read but it must have one. Write packing slip on the outside of the envelope.
• NO FOODS/DRINKS OF ANY KIND, LIQUOR OF ANY KIND, FIREARMS, ETC.. Items that cannot be shipped to the Disney Cruise Line Warehouse and delivered to the ship include: food products (any and all food products including baby food/formula), beverages (liquor, water, etc.), chemicals, and luggage. These items will not be accepted at the warehouse and will be returned. This may cause the dogs to hit on your box and that would be a bad thing.
• The required size of the cartons you are shipping down have to be about the size of a record storage box 12 inches on a side and should not weigh more than 20 lbs. (This has been asked personally by Dave Adams who is the owner)

Address your package(s) to:
Disney Cruise Line Warehouse
Guest Name / Stateroom # (GTY, if you don't know what it is when you send the package)
8633 Transport Drive
Orlando, FL 32832
Phone: 407-566-8196

In the bottom left corner of the top of the package put the following information: ATTN: HOUSEKEEPING
*Name
*Sail Date
*Ship
*Stateroom Number
*Packing slip that details contents of the package (for prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient)
• Packages must arrive by Friday by 3:00pm for the 7-Night Cruise on the Disney Magic (Saturday).
• Packages must arrive by Friday by 3:00pm for the 4-Night Cruise on the Disney Wonder (Sunday).
• Packages must arrive by Wednesday by 3:00pm for the 3-Night Cruise on the Disney Wonder (Thursday).

If your box is hit on by the screening dog or chosen for additional screening they will open the list and the box and look through it. They will close it back up and provided nothing bad is in it then it will be in your room as usual later after boarding. These boxes will be coming on the ship with the crew mail among other things so they may be in the staterooms later then they were before as they are low priority in the scheme of things for Disney.

I mailed a box last year for the Halloween Magic cruise and it was sitting on our bed when we first opened the door. The box I sent was definitely bigger than a record box!

I just figured out there there is no way I can ship our FE gift to the Port. I called the supplier of what I am getting and it will ship in 2 fairly large boxes.

The good news...I called the Residence Inn (we are staying there the night before we cruise) and I can ship it to them.

I know this means we will have to bring it to port and deal with it there but I was beginning to think I would have to change my idea and I love what I am getting. Now I just have to figure out how I will have to label the boxes to drop them off with our luggage. There is NO WAY I would try to carry them on the ship!

That's great Jen!! At least you can still ship it! Maybe if you use packing tape and tape your luggage tags to the boxes, it might work.

Well DH's early Father's Day present arrived today....another laptop! He wanted a netbook, so that's what he got. We now have 4 computers in this house and there are only 3 of us living here. We have bought 5 computers in the last three years, but one went to AZ with DD! I hope this is the last one for awhile!

Hey New Englanders-
Does anyone live near Springfield, MA? Just saw a tornado touched down about 1/2 hour ago. We're under Tornado watch right now, but it looks like the storms will miss us.

Crazy weather! Stay safe everyone!

We live on the other side of Springfield but did not get hit - not even rainy. Just dark clouds and lightning. However, where Springfield got hit we travel through often.

Janeanne

Glad that you guys were safe!!

The original thread said you are supposed to have your representative contact the NASA liaison 6 months before you need the passes.

I did that... followed up 1 month later to ensure that my rep's office received them (which they confirmed) and waited. About a month ago, those that submitted requests for August has started receiving their notifications that they had passes so I checked w/ my rep's office again.

The person (same one I spoke with originally) told me that he submitted our request but hadn't received a confirmation which was what usually happened. He sent me an email the next day saying that the liaison never received my request.

I was a bit peeved since it was the office's lack of follow up that probably lost us the passes, but we will just pay for our passes during our visit and still have a great time (dh is REALLY looking forward to KSC!).

We were very late in the game even trying to ask our rep's office and at this point I'm not even going to try and press the issue. It seems as if everyone here wants to visit so we'll be there! I haven't done any additional research on other discount options other than Undercover Tourist has them at about $4.00 off the gate price.

:lmao: Oh !!
I DIDN' T !! ;)

DGH decided  for the Chinatown food tour !!

Having travelled all around the world ... DGH likes to try new adventuresome food and can eat " anything ! " ... :rotfl2: ( in family we add : provided it doesn't move too fast !!!) :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Very nice! If you're still hungry after that, Little Italy is right in that area as well, too :)

That would be the one. It is SLOWLY moving North. I still have no idea what they did because the roads are just as bad as they were before.

Amazing isn't it?! They did the area around exits 45-57 last year and it was actually done rather quickly (in comparison to what they've been doing points south), but this past weekend we saw new signs of construction appearing in that same area?!?!

In 2009 I did a package with Radisson that included passes, maybe check into that if you're staying at the port before the cruise. It was around $150 for room and passes.

Hi everyone!

So, I have to ask....am I the only one who starts reading the last page of the thread and then goes backwards? The thread is so busy, I want to read it all! :)

Frank-congrats on getting your vacation time!! I would rather hear that I am getting the vacation time I want OR EVEN MORE vacation time than getting a cost of living raise :) My vacation time is so precious!!! Don't tell the boss, though, 'cuz I don't want those little raises to go anywhere, either! ;)

So glad that everyone is safe after the scary weather we have been having. I still pray daily for our Missouri friends!

Fish Extender shipping/planning has begun!! Let 'em roll!!! We will be walking the hallways of the Dream before we know it!!:banana:

Have I missed if we have talked about a meet on the ship? I read discussion about a meet in the terminal and about the stateroom tour, but I feel like I've missed something else?

Funny story, we are on the EXACT flights to MCO and home with Woobie and family...(totally unplanned, we've just met in this thread) we are planning a mini-meet in Boston. Val, we need to talk more!

OMG! Just over two months! I've got so much to do :) Right now, though, off to beddy by for me. Night all!!

Tks to Elena for this Grumpy picture

Happy Friday everyone! I love that it is almost the weekend...except that it is going to be such a busy one. We have dress rehearsal tonight and then dance recitals all weekend. To top it off, Paul and I will be running a 1/2 marathon Sunday morning. :upsidedow

What day - we would love to join you.

Janeanne

It would be such fun to have you guys join us! I told Kristin Wednesday would be our first choice but any day really works.

I booked with Budget last year October an intermediate car a weekly rate of $148 giving a total of $216 for the 9 days we'll be using it. Got the extra discounts using the Entertainment book codes.

That's a great price! I have to call and fix our reservation this weekend. I know that I thought I had everything figured out - but really it was just the beginning of the vacation - and now I discovered that we don't really need the long reservation at the end of the cruise. We will only need another 1-day reservation because we will be at WDW after the cruise and at that point we will use their transportation. We will be at the Poly and it is so easy to get around from there.

That's great Jen!! At least you can still ship it! Maybe if you use packing tape and tape your luggage tags to the boxes, it might work.

I love all your tech gear! As a tech integration specialist, you don't even want to get me going on how much we have at our house! As I look down the kitchen counter right now I see 3 laptops, 2 iPads and an iPad touch - we have way more and it gets crazy! You should see how much tech stuff I think I have to pack to go on vacation! Good camera, little camera, waterproof camera, video camera, etc. :rotfl2:

I don't think we have any details on a meet on the ship at this point. I know that there is the stateroom tour (I am excited for that) and I am sure we will all run into one another in the terminal but I don't know of any other meets.

Alright, time to get ready for work! Have a great day everyone!
Jen

Happy Friday! I hope everyone has a great weekend! I am off to Atlantic City, NJ with my girlfriends for a fun filled girls only weekend!! :cool1::cool1: At the rate we are chatting on this board I will have about 50 pages to catch up on by Sunday!
