I emailed our Congressman last week and got a response that they had no idea what I was talking about!! :rotfl: I expected as much and haven't had time to really push the issue. Let us know how you make out.

Apparently other people on the DIS have had the same problem, and you have to tell them that they have to contact a NASA liason? I'm just nervous that they'll think I mean the Kennedy Center in DC, so I made sure I mentioned the word Florida in there. :rotfl:

The original thread said you are supposed to have your representative contact the NASA liaison 6 months before you need the passes.

I did that... followed up 1 month later to ensure that my rep's office received them (which they confirmed) and waited. About a month ago, those that submitted requests for August has started receiving their notifications that they had passes so I checked w/ my rep's office again.

The person (same one I spoke with originally) told me that he submitted our request but hadn't received a confirmation which was what usually happened. He sent me an email the next day saying that the liaison never received my request.

I was a bit peeved since it was the office's lack of follow up that probably lost us the passes, but we will just pay for our passes during our visit and still have a great time (dh is REALLY looking forward to KSC!).

Testing my memory here (and my laziness about searching back!!)... did you ever decide on the NYC food tour? I seem to recall you were weighing different options?

:lmao: Oh !!
I DIDN' T !! ;)

DGH decided  for the Chinatown food tour !!

Having travelled all around the world ... DGH likes to try new adventuresome food and can eat " anything ! " ... :rotfl2: ( in family we add : provided it doesn't move too fast !!!) :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Hey New Englanders-
Does anyone live near Springfield, MA? Just saw a tornado touched down about 1/2 hour ago. We're under Tornado watch right now, but it looks like the storms will miss us.

Crazy weather! Stay safe everyone!

I too, was thinking of shipping my FE gifts, but maybe to Beach Club or Country Inns for our pre-stays. I am afraid of things not making it... We're flying Delta this time around so there's a $25 per bag fee  but even with roundtrip luggage costs for 4 the tickets were still less (at the time we booked) than JetBlue or Southwest. Kristin's been having awesome luck with her flights coming down and getting Southwest credits.

Shipping it to the hotel sounds like a good idea. It would definitely make me feel better to have it before the cruise.

:scared1:
Good luck! I hope you are able to get some tickets. I think my DS and DH would love to see KSC....DD - not so much! :rotfl:

Still feeling sad about lack of formal night. I will be picking something as dressy as I dare wear without feeling out of place for the dress up night.

I have sent stuff down for the last two cruises and it worked out just fine!!

Good to know, Kristin. At least nowI know someone who has done it...so that makes me less nervous about it...

NYC food tour? That sounds cool! Are there many of those? I'll have to look into it.

Are you referring to the same 295 that has been under construction for like the last several years?!?! :rotfl2:

That would be the one. It is SLOWLY moving North. I still have no idea what they did because the roads are just as bad as they were before.

I was finally able to access our reservation at 1:30 this morning.

There were only a few Palo spots available and all early in the cruise. I would love to try Palo but think it is more important to not miss the regular rotational dining in the various restaurants w/ the kids so I'll just wait until we get on board.

All that lost sleep for nothing.

Oh and I couldn't check in at all. Going to try that now.

ETA... All checked in! The first available "arrival time" was 11:30am. We are going to be there at 10:30 though! :-)

definite happy dance going on...
we had our 'vacation' meeting yesterday where we sort out what weeks we get next fiscal year (starts Oct 1) and I got everything I wanted!:thumbsup2:cool1:

got Christmas week off with the kids and the 2 weeks I put DCL deposits on for next summer

To everyone thinking of shipping to the ship: I have also done this on my 2 previous cruises and it went well. Boxes were in our stateroom upon arrival. Now that we are flying I will probably do it again. There are instructions and the address on one of the sticky threads.

With the changes to our transportation we are arriving on Florida a day early and needed a hotel for Thursday night, I called DVC and they had not one but both rooms available at Vero Beach!!:yay::yay: (we are booked in 2 Inn rooms and are waitlisted for a 1 bedroom) I was all ready to take any room in WDW since it was only for 1 night, I never thought I could get Vero!!

I have gotten some OK prices for car rentals, anyone have any good Coupon Codes for car rentals??? Thanks!

In regard to the Grand Gathering idea: It sounds great, but we are avoiding the parks, just enjoying the hotels. (at least that is the plan for now!)

Agreed. There is a warehouse about 10 minutes from the port where you ship your packages. I usually send my stuff about a week before the cruise. Typically the boxes are there before our luggage.

Excellent news. Congrats!

Kristin - Were you able to call and order the vinylmations for the girls today? Let me know if you need me to do it for you.

Hi Jen,

I wanted to get one of the vinylmations for my sister. I wanted to know which store you are calling that still has the white ones available? Thanks! :)

I called the Wisconsin Dells store yesterday (608-253-3062) and was told I got the last white one, but you could call and double check if you'd like. My local store (Hershey) didn't have any white ones. The one other store I've seen people suggest calling is 417-335-5307 (I don't remember where it is - only have the number written down). Good luck!

Ok, I think after a bit of work today. I am finally ready to email out the FINAL LISTS OF THE FE!!:cool1::banana:

Here is why I left it at two groups. Several families requested to be together so instead of trying to rearrange the lists into three groups and I was worried about moving the wrong families from one group to the next!!
This is the breakdown for the FE's::

Group #1- A total of 26 families. So you really are only purchasing for 25 families since you will not be giving your own family a gift.

Group # 2- A total of 28 families. So you really are only purchasing for 27 families since you will not be giving your own family a gift.

I am sorry that Group #2 is a bit larger than Group #1 but I really did my very best to accommodate everyone's requests to be with specific families, etc. So this is how it worked out.

If anyone else wants to join in on the FE~~I am sorry to say that the FE IS OFFICIALLY CLOSED!! I can not rearrange the lists anymore. If your on a GTY cabin please email the entire group that you are in and notify them to update their lists. If names, etc. are incorrect please email your group yourself to ask them to make the necessary changes to their lists.

Thank you!! I am again sorry for all of the changes I really wanted to ensure that everyone was able to partake and have FUN!! I did not want any children to be upset that they could not participate!!

I've finally got through my email today and still have another 20 pages of posts to get through.

Thank you again for organizing our FE gift exchange. Ive already got my FE in my 'Disney' suitcase.

Great news Frank!!

A guy who works for my husband had the tornado go right through his neighborhood, his kid's school has no roof. Such scarey weather we are all having. Be safe everyone!!:):thumbsup2

I am actually having part of our FE gift sent directly to port because I fear having to pack it!

I was thinking of doing the same thing. Have you done it before? I'm just afraid of what I will do if it gets lost or something...:confused3

I did this on the last cruise and it was great. The box was actually delivered to the room before our luggage. I just need to get the address again. Anyone know this?

We live on the other side of Springfield but did not get hit - not even rainy. Just dark clouds and lightning. However, where Springfield got hit we travel through often.
