Wow that is brilliant - Congratualations -sounds like your hard work was worth it!:goodvibes

Kristin, wow, that is an amazing amount of money raised!!!! Very impressive!!!

OMG OMG OMG I'm sorry, but I just turn to mush every time I see the puppies!!! Love the picture with his "mommy", too cute!!!!

As for the FE, I wonder how many we are going to actually have participate now? There are a ton of people on the website, but we don't hear from or see most of them here. We might want to start a new list altogether? So many people have come and gone?

Hello Everyone! It has been many days since I have posted....for 2 big reasons.

First, our house has been a very sick sort of house but I think we are all finally feeling well. DS missed school all week long and we all still have a horrible cough. Finally feel like we are recovering.

Here is the big one though...we will not be cruising with you all. We have talked about it and talked about it and have finally come to the realization that it is just not going to happen this time around. It is because of my job (there will be training going on that they will want me to attend), DH's job (it has been really rough and we just don't know what the future of it is going to be) and then in the end that it is not worth the job problems for a 5 night Disney Cruise.

In so many ways we are so very sad because we have such incredible friends here who are going. We will be driving to the east coast this summer to visit some of you because I just can't stand the thought that we won't see you.

Laura - I will be writing you an e-mail this weekend now that I am finally feeling better and I my heart is very sad that we will be missing you and Marco. :guilty: I wish I could figure out how to make it work but it is just not meant to be this time around.

I am not sure at this point how to handle the fact that I hold the whole website for the cruise and I am not going to take it down - I just do know that I also don't have a huge amount of time to add new things to it when we are not going. I will be talking with Kristin to see if she wants to work on the FE information but am open to ideas.

As I said, the whole family is sad that we are canceling the cruise but we all know that it is the right decision at this point.

Happy planning to all of you and I hope I will be welcome to "lurk" here and follow all the fun you all have!

Jen

That is sad news, but you have to do what is best for your family. Thank you for all the hard work you've done for this group! It really has been appreciated.:grouphug:

The last Cruise disboards meet I attended was HUGE!!! I think outside is the best bet. Anyone have ideas about how we can identify each other. On our last cruise we got "bracelets" they were nice because we could identify disboarders throughout the week, but they were small so we had to get close to see. Anyone have any other experiences from previous meets?

Jen,

I'm so sorry that we wont be cruising together. I'm sure that things will work out and it's better taking it slow until you know whats going on with work.

You will definately be missed!!! Thanks for all of your hard work.
Kim

Outdoors would be great. We've had braclets and like you said, they're hard to see. Last year, they did lanyards which were great, you saw them all over the ship!! The lanyards were all printed with our group name, and bright orange for Halloween. She had tags made with your screen name in the pocket. A lot of work and an awesome job with those.

Anyone have ideas about how we can identify each other.

Jen, so sorry that you have to cancel. But, like others have said, you know what is best for you and your family. Thank you for everything that you have done.

On the '09 member cruise, a member of our DIS group made buttons.

It was great because everyone wore them on the lanyards. I do like the idea of lanyards.

My friend is going on an Alaska cruise and someone on her thread had uploaded their logo to cafepress.com and on there you could order t-shirts or many other items! That could be good, then anyone that wanted a t-shirt or whatever could order it from there or make there own!Lanyards worked out good on our last cruise! It was easy to spot our fellow cruisemates!

AWESOME!!!:thumbsup2 Great Job Kristin! I know you are pleased with the results!!! Now maybe you can relax!!!!

Here you go !

orecchiette_cime_di_rapa.jpg

Orecchiette with Broccoli Rabe, or Orecchiette con Cime di Rapa: There are many recipes for this signature dish from Puglia. This particular one is quick and simple. To serve 4 you'll need:

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 40 minutes

Ingredients:
•1 pound (500 g) orecchiette

•2 1/4 pounds (1 k) broccoli rabe

•1 hot pepper, shredded

•2 cloves garlic, minced

•6 tablespoons olive oil

•Grated Pecorino Romano (not too sharp)

Preparation:

Pick over and clean the broccoli. Bring a pot of water to a boil, salt it, add the broccoli, and after a few minutes stir in the orecchiette and cook the two together until the orecchiette are done.

While the pasta's cooking, simmer the garlic and the pepper in the oil, taking care lest the garlic brown and become bitter. Drain the pasta and broccoli well, turn them out into the skillet with the oil and garlic, cook, stirring, for a few seconds to distribute the seasoning evenly, and serve with grated cheese.

Had this pasta in my hand today.... then I recalled that this week is the one week out of the year where I get to celebrate my Irish heritage and cook a little Irish! :rotfl2: Oh, who I am kidding - baked ziti is on the menu here tomorrow night!!! Can't say that there are too many "good" irish dishes though really!! We'll be having Irish stew one night... the traditional "American-Irish" meal of corned beef and cabbage and, of course, lots of Guinness will be flowing!!! :)

Jen - So sorry that you won't be joining us :sad2: Who's going to run with me now?! Seriously - I know it's a tough decision. We were supposed to be on that cruise Tortola that turned into a double-dip and had to make a tough decision then.

Jen, I'm so bummed you guys aren't going with us, we were looking forward to meeting you and your family. I'm glad I got to chat with you here on the Dis, you know you were my inspiration to start running and I'm still running today! If you decide to do the Princess Half next year let me know, that's my goal to do the half next year. Hope all goes well with your jobs and all. We'll all miss you.

Kristin, that's an amazing amount of money to raise what a great job you did!

Laura, the pasta looks delicious, I'll have to try it. Definately not fatening I'm sure. ;)

and Helen, your puppy is so adorable I love it when you post the puppy picts!

Laura, the pasta looks delicious, I'll have to try it. Definately not fatening I'm sure. ;)

NO , it's NOT !!! I know it might look UNREAL - but in Italy we use to have pasta once a day ( with oil and FRESH tomato sauce ) ; it's called The Mediterranean diet .
Together with fresh blue fish and lots of vegetables and fruit ;) it's a well balanced diet ; not many Italians in fact are fat ... :)

:confused3 They say that a good PASTA is much better for your well-being than a piece of cake !!

:lovestruc BELIEVE IT OR ... TRY IT !!!! :rotfl:
