Hey everyone sorry I have been MIA!!

The Auction that I have been organizing for our school is finally here. It is tomorrow. YEAH!!

We have such great stuff for it. From tickets to Disney, two cruises, a townhouse in Milan Italy, a diamon bracelet, as well as 94 silent auction items. I can't wait.

Good luck tonight Kristen! You have wonderful donations, can I just say I'm impressed with people's generocity in your town.:wizard: Enjoy yourself tonight, you've earned it.

I'm trying to wait out Southwest, right now their fares are extremely HIGH Ughhh, c'mon oil prices please go down

They went up $10 overnight each way. I was afraid it was going to get worse with the oil prices increasing.

I remember when I thought under $200 was a great deal. Now I'm happy to pay less than $300!

Hi Everyone,

Laura the townhouse is owned by a sister of a teacher in our school it has been newly renovated. It is in Milan Italy located in central Milan, just minutes from Castello Sforzesco and Arco d'ella Pace. Does that help that is all I have it is for ten days!!

We ended up booking SW for this trip and our flights have already gone down and I got a $180.00 credit!!:cool1::banana:

I'll take that Milan townhouse!!!

Booked the Autotrain for August and keeping an eye on airfares. We are also now going down in June as Tim has a school thing in Orlando. $3K in airfare for both trips is over-the-top!

That is cool that your going down in Aug. as well!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

:confused::love::)
WOW !!! I suppose it's a "one week stay" rental :dance3: or something like that !!!
:dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

Is it a hotel ROMANA RESIDENCE HOME by any chance ? ( Some US friends of ours stayed there last Summer ) .
WHERE in Milan is it ?:);):goodvibes VERY CURIOUS !!!!

Good luck !! you surely did a wonderful job !!!!!!!!!!! laura

By the way ... WE LIVE IN MILAN, ITALY :rotfl:

It's actually a week's stay at your house - SURPRISE! :rotfl2:

On another seemingly random topic now that you've thrown Milan out there - we had two A.C. Milan fans living here for quite some time (two sons), but after a few summers of housing a soccer coach from the U.K. they have changed their allegiance to English football teams. They still proudly wear their Milan and Italian national team jerseys though! :)

I am a fan of the other Milano soccer team
Inter F.C. (black and blue stripes, while A.C. Milan has red and black stripes)

WOW !!That is a very posh part of our town !! Buildings are "ancient" to  quite old (turn of the century) ... but most have been beautifully restored !!

Ancient Castle of the Sforza family ( who once ruled Milano)

Arch of the Peace

We live about 10 minutes away from Arco della Pace .

:) What a coincidence !!!! laura

We have booked flights with Delta / paying in EUROS .
:teacher: We paid for each of us about 320 US $ (including taxes) for round trip NYC-Orlando : what do you think ? A ROBBERY ??

( we had to book early - as our intercontinental flights CANNOT be changed :confused3 and we had to have the very last night flight out of NY ...)

These days $320 is a bargain. The flights are going up in price by the day.

We booked on SW for a trip to MCO out of PHL for end of June (DS is attending a conference) about 3 weeks ago and the prices were pretty good. Went to book the cruise flights and wow! Continental has a stranglehold up in Newark on the Florida routes - fares there are horrible.

We are also staying @ BLT pre-cruise. Our first visit there as well.

How old are your kids? I have 2 boys, 11 and 14. Looking forward to BLT, we're doing 2 days at the parks and the other will be pool days. Arriving late Thursday night and staying at the Hyatt, MCO. We're going to BLT on Friday morning til Tuesday morn.

I've been watching airfare from Philly to Southern Oregon for June. My sister is graduating w/ a nursing degree and wants me to be there.

Hard to rationalize a $500 plane ticket (today...yesterday it was $575), 20 hours of flying (12hrs there, 8hrs back), and two nights in a hotel room (another $250) to see her for 2.5 days, watch her get pinned and handed a fake diploma.

I know she's worked hard (returned to school late in life) and it is important to her...but man it is expensive.

Still trying to figure out if I am going or not! :confused3

Hello Everyone! It has been many days since I have posted....for 2 big reasons.

First, our house has been a very sick sort of house but I think we are all finally feeling well. DS missed school all week long and we all still have a horrible cough. Finally feel like we are recovering.

Here is the big one though...we will not be cruising with you all. We have talked about it and talked about it and have finally come to the realization that it is just not going to happen this time around. It is because of my job (there will be training going on that they will want me to attend), DH's job (it has been really rough and we just don't know what the future of it is going to be) and then in the end that it is not worth the job problems for a 5 night Disney Cruise.

In so many ways we are so very sad because we have such incredible friends here who are going. We will be driving to the east coast this summer to visit some of you because I just can't stand the thought that we won't see you.

Laura - I will be writing you an e-mail this weekend now that I am finally feeling better and I my heart is very sad that we will be missing you and Marco. :guilty: I wish I could figure out how to make it work but it is just not meant to be this time around.

I am not sure at this point how to handle the fact that I hold the whole website for the cruise and I am not going to take it down - I just do know that I also don't have a huge amount of time to add new things to it when we are not going. I will be talking with Kristin to see if she wants to work on the FE information but am open to ideas.

As I said, the whole family is sad that we are canceling the cruise but we all know that it is the right decision at this point.

Happy planning to all of you and I hope I will be welcome to "lurk" here and follow all the fun you all have!

Jen

I was upset when I bit the bullet and spent $1,600 on SW for the 5 of us to cruise....now it is like I got a bargain! Disney has to come to NY!

I am sorry that you won't be able to cruise- I am sure that must have been such a hard decision. Thank you for all of your work on the website, and I hope everything works out well for your husband
