One year seems soooo far away! It doesn't help that we still have a few weeks of summer left and my daughter is ready to go back to school now. Makes the days drag on. Hopefully the school year will go by quickly!

We are adding time to the end of our trip to visit Mickey with free dining. We are staying at the Wilderness Lodge and we've never stayed there, but eat there every time we go to Disney (we love WCC and Artist Point). I love visiting the WL, and can't wait to stay there.

I have been thinking about the FE stuff trying to come up with something to make. I figure that once school starts, I should get started on that.

@Terri! Awesome pictures!! We decided to go for quasi-seafood at Red Lobster because they have "sail-away smoothies" didn't think to take a picture!!
I :lovestruc Red Lobster, we just ate there Friday and I had to have my favorite thing, the wood fired salmon. Yummy!

Received my PassPorter Disney Cruise Line Guide yesterday in the mail!

I'm thinking it was quite fitting to received it exactly one year to the day of sailing! :cool1:

I've been reading furiously about all the ins and outs of DCL. Need to start taking notes soon of things I can't forget!

...ETA.... My TA was also able to get us FREE DINING for our post-cruise stay at WL!:yay:
Is there any new info in there about the Dream? I might have to get next years Passporter since I'm sure it will have a ton of new info.

We are doing the exact same thing! We are so excited! Normally I would like to do Disney before we sail, but the free dining was too good to pass up. Harry Potter World for us, I guess. :)
We're doing HP in October, I'll let ya know how it is when we get back. This will be our first trip to U.S. I guess Disney really does know how to trap me on their property!

We stayed at WL for the first time last summer and it was my favorite place to stay, but watch out for all the bugs if you take the boat back from MK. We literaly had to RUN all the way up the long dock because the bugs were huge and they were flying into us! :scared1: Other than that tramatic experience we had the best time there!

We live in PA and ALWAYS fly down to Florida but decided to drive down this trip to save the hassle of transportation to/from the cruise.

Originally, I thought it would be a good idea to tack on a night at Universal (to take advantage of their FP equivalent) but it won't work out this trip unless we do less days at WDW (which I don't want to do!!!) or skip the Kennedy Space Center the day before the cruise (which is practically the only thing dh requested to do).

I also looked at the ride height requirements for IoA and ds (5.5yo during trip) will be peeved to not be able to go on the Hulk, and other superhero attractions. Best to wait a few more years until both kids can ride everything. :)

Our post-cruise stay at the Wilderness Lodge will be mine and dd's second time, dh and ds' first. DD and I took a 5 day trip for her 7th birthday a couple years ago and I scored a PIN code about 3mo out that let me change from POP (with a rental car) to WL (w/o a car) for only $200 more! Dh was quite jealous and that is part of the reason he insisted on staying at WL this trip...not that I mind! We have stayed at POR for our previous visits so we are all looking forward to the WL!

schmoogrrrl you will LOVE WL!! The lobby is breathtaking (as you know), pool is awesome, and it is so close to the MK!! princess:

Lots of firsts on this trip for us...

Driving
Kennedy Space Center
Family stay at WL
and... first DCL cruise!

:dance3::dance3::dance3:

I'm not sure I will make it 52 more weeks w/o bursting w/ excitement!

Hi everyone! Happy to read about the one year mark celebrations! :thumbsup2

:welcome: to all those who have joined!!! :)

Happy One Year mark all!!!! :dance3:

Hi all! We spent the day in NYC yesterday. In the past it was an opportunity for us to visit the WOD store and replenish our supply of Mickey pasta (see prior post <LOL>), but that store has long since closed. For those interested in the new Disney store in Times Square... we were able to peek through the plywood in the front and well.... we really couldn't see anything good :lmao: But supposedly they are interviewing for jobs and are due to open this fall.
The new store will include an interactive princess castle and a children’s theater for screening animation and holding storytelling events for children. No word on whether they'll have the pasta or not?!? :)

We have a "bucket list" of sorts each summer - things we want to do and accomplish. We rarely get through it, but we are making good progress! NYC was on there and we decided since the temps and humidity were going to be reasonable this weekend to go for it. Should have went Saturday, because we did get a bit of rain yesterday, but it only lasted a short time.

We hadn't been to Ground Zero and decided to check that area out. The 9-11 Memorial Preview site has some pretty good stuff in it - still brings chills to me. Construction seems to be moving along nicely there, too. Another chilling part is the church across the street - which survived after the towers crumbled down next to it.... there's some of those postings that people had placed around looking for their loved ones, etc. Very emotional crowd in there - still to this day.

We dropped too much money at American Girl and Nintendo World... hit the NHL store, and paid a visit to Tiffany's. Had some entertainment on the subway as usual and had excellent NYC pizza for dinner :)

The short trip on the water taxi also reminded Vicki to look for her sea bands for next August 16th!!! In all fairness it was a bit wicked out on the Hudson yesterday!!

The next "urban legend" for our household also occurred!! We have lots of stories that evolve over the years - especially when told by me. Ask me next year how much the M&Ms cost me at the M&M store in Times Square!! :rotfl:

Harry, Sounds like a PERFECT day in NYC....Love NYC!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went into the city last week Thurs.-Friday Bruce had to work had meetings both days. It was a nice getaway without the children!!

Hi Betty! If it feels like I'm following you around, it's true. I'm stalking you. lol :)

I am thrilled that we are now less than one year away from this cruise!! I wish I had thought to do a "Disney Day" of some kind...

:rotfl2: Cayley, you can stalk me anytime!! And you can always do a "Disney Day" at the 300 mark, the 200, 100, 10 :)

Just think - this time next year we'll be enjoying adult beverages in the nightclub! Wonder what they'll be asking for during the scavenger hunt!!

Now that I know what to expect, I can't wait to do the Scavenger Hunt again. But this time we need to be on the same team!

Hello Everyone!

Are we all loving being under the one year countdown? I know that we are here...DS keeps saying "can you believe it is less then a year until we go?" :goodvibes

I have meant to post more this week but it has been an insane sort of week. :upsidedow WDW went and released specials for when we are going for the 1/2 marathon and so we have been planning like crazy! We knew we would be gong in February but now we are getting the details down. Looks like it will be the Pop with free dining (upgraded to the deluxe dining) for our 4 night trip.

Then, they released free dining for August 2011 so I have been all over the board with planning for our cruise trip. Looks like we will be trying for Vero Beach with Kristin's family before the cruise, a night at port the night before we leave, the cruise and then WDW. We were going to do WDW first, but with the free dining...we will move it to after the cruise. Thank goodness that school starts after Labor Day.

I will be updating our website with everyone's countdown party stuff - it looks like there were a lot of great celebrations! I will also post answers for the QUESTION OF THE WEEK! I love to read what you all have to say!

Hope everyone is doing great! Now that the plans for all the trips are coming together, it all gets exciting!

Later - Jen

Scavenger Hunt? Tell me all about it!!!

Is this the kid's one or one for the big kids (ie me...the 43yo!)? LOL

Definitely for you!! LOL I think it was either the first or second night of the 7 day cruise - there is a "grownup" (adult - sort of sounds wrong :rotfl2:) scavenger hunt in the nightclub. We formed teams and collected points by bringing items up to the MC. Some of the items could be found in purses or pockets other things were a little more risque. Things like a woman wearing a man's shirt, two men holding hands wearing high heels, and a man wearing a bra!! (I've got some great pictures from that night!!):rotfl: It really didn't matter who came up with the most points we were roaring with laughter!
