August 16, 2011 – 7 Night Alaska Sailing

Here is how I like to look at it. Today is Monday the 8th, but since it is already half over ( at least for some of us) you don't count today. you then have:

Tuesday the 9th (1)
Wednesday the 10th (2)
Thursday the 11th (3)
Friday the 12th (4)
Saturday the 13th (5)
Sunday th 14th (6)
Monday the 15th (7)
Tuesday th 16th (this is the day we get on the ship so you do not count it)

So by my count we only have

7 days :)

Ours will be $50 worth of Disney World clear ponchos from last August. We had to purchase new ones because all of our old yellow ones had finally ripped.

Ours are the old yellow ones from WDW with Mickey on them! I told my mom that I was going to pack them for the trip, and she said "Well at least you won't be embarrassed wearing them on THIS cruise, as probably everyone is just as crazy as you" :lmao::lmao::lmao: Can you believe my own mother said that to me?:rotfl2::rotfl2:

However, speaking of ponchos, that reminds me of a funny incident one time while we were at Disneyland.

At the time, they had us go back out the way you come in to the Haunted Mansion ride. The park had run out of yellow ponchos, and so they gave us clear ones, which looked white in the low light of the ride. Well, when we were through, my husband and I were leaving the ride with our daughter behind us, and we were heading back behind the stanchions when a new group of tourists came off the elevator. One of them took one look at me, floating along in my mobility scooter with white stuff billowing around me, and SCREAMED!

She thought I was part of the attraction! After collecting ourselves, and realizing what happened, we all laughed hysterically for about the next ten minutes. :lmao:

OK, I'm just :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl: thinking about this! Can we get a reenactment on the ship? I'll act really scared :scared1:

hi everyone!!

i got soooo lucky...i couldn't book a palo dinner ressie for the longest time but i tried today and dinner was available!! woohoo!!!

also, can someone direct me to the teens/tween thread. dd13 wants to read. thank you!!

Here is your next question for the special FE gift.

During the construction of Disneyland, where did Walt get the street lamps that line Main Street U.S.A. and how much did he pay for them???

No guesses on this one??? I am thinking everyone is busy getting the last minute items they need before we leave? ;)

Here is the teens/tweens thread, but be sure she reads the first post with all of the ground rules:

thanks mellers!

thumbsup on the first post! :)

i hope dd/ds will meet fellow disers on the cruise even if they don't meet them here (on the boards) first. it'll be nice for them to "look forward to" meeting friends but it'll also be just as nice to meet as you go, if that makes sense.

dd tried to make a magnetic door sign earlier. she used butcher paper and it was too big. i told her it was too big and i think it crushed her a bit. hopefully she will try again tomorrow.

I only know part. He got them in Bawlmer (Baltimore, MD for regular folks). I know that cause that's where I was born & raised...:thumbsup2

Have to admit, I did cheat and find out the rest on-line, but I will wait & see if anyone else really knows.

Lisa

A week from RIGHT NOW I will be waking up too early, but too excited to sleep any longer because it is sail day! Before I know it we will be packing up our last few items and headed to the ship. :cheer2::banana::cool1::cheer2::banana::cool1:

I know the last thing you'll want to do when you get off the Wonder is come post, but I have a request that hopefully won't take too much of your time.

I've been reading about how the Wonder has been sold out of a lot of the Alaska merchandise already. We're on the last cruise and have been hoping they get some more in or there will be a lot of unhappy passengers (including folks on your cruise I presume).

So, could you please come post here after your cruise to let the rest of us know whether we should be prepared to be disappointed please?

Thanks so much!

I would be happy to help, the only difficulty for me is I won't have internet until late in the day on the 23rd. By then you will be on the ship. I will try to report in while we sail. There are many helpful people on this thread, I am sure one of us will successfully report back. :surfweb:

Thanks! I'm actually not sailing until the 30th so we'll have time.

There is a pre-cruise meet at the White Spot in Richmond (near the Vancouver Airport at No. 3 Road and Ackroyd). You can take the Canada Line from the waterfront to the Lansdowne stop, and that will let you out at the Lansdowne Shopping Centre (a good-sized mall, and a good place to pick up last-minute items) on No. 3 Road. If you look left from the stop, you should see the sign--it's only about a block away.

There's also a cruise meet at 3 p.m. at Diversions on the ship.

Kids and teens are welcome at both cruise meets, and I know that at least one other teen will be in attendance.

Our medium sized suitcase is fully packed :banana::banana:
(except for my clock-radio, which will be added on Sunday.)

Our large suitcase will be packed on Friday.

From AccuWeather, the current forecast for our port days:

Vancouver: 69 and partly sunny (possible thunderstorm on Monday)
Skagway: 64 and rain (rain all next week through Friday)
Juneau: 66 and cloudy (rain all next week through Friday)
Ketchikan: 67 and mostly sunny (rain all next week through Saturday)
