August 16, 2011 – 7 Night Alaska Sailing

So I finished our FE over the weekend. DH made the mickey hanger and I made the bottom part. Hope its not too cheesy, as I just made a really simple one. The only really exciting part is the mickey topper DH made for it:)

I think it's lovely, and it's far less cheesy than mine (which consists of child's Cars apron backed up with a tote bag)

Well no one has responded to my question. So, I guess I stumped everyone. The answer to the question Smoking Tree Ranch. Smoking Tree Ranch is a place where people can buy vacation homes in a community and and pay HOA dues. The Disney family went there alot. When Disney tried to buy a home there they tried to block thinking he was to "Hollywood" So, Walt designed and built a few in the community and they let him in.

Is it Smoking Tree Ranch, or Smoke Tree Ranch?

The FE is cute:)

I love wandering round the ship looking at other folks magnets and FE'sand this time I get to actually put things into the FE's:cool1:

Ah! that reminds me, I must go get some magnet paper today to do my magnets up ready for this cruise. I have a couple of Alaska DISigns but I will also be reusung some of the previous magnets that I had printed up for the MV of the Dream - non cruise specific ones!

Just a note to say we were hoping to come along to the pre-cruise meet had out flight come in early enough, but it doesn't seem to land until alomst 7pm, so by the time we get done with immigration etc and find our hotel, we will be shattered(its a 10hr+ flight), but hopefully will meet up with you all in Diversions:)

Haven't started packing yet, but I do have a list of what needs to go in. I have to go to town today to get DD some silver sparkly shoes to go with her new formal dress (its almost midnight blue with silver gem detail on the waistband), but that is all I need to purchase:thumbsup2

have a good week everyone:yay:

I have put together our FE gifts, have still not completed our FE. We are going down Bellingham on Saturday to get the kids formal clothes, Magnets are have made just need to attach the magnet part. I am in a little bit of a panic about when things are going to get done, DH started a new job a couple weeks ago and has 1 more week of day shift then is on afternoons, so I do not know how much he will be able help. I start a new job today, this is the 1st time I have a full time job in almost 4 years. So that takes away a lot of my time at home. I sure everthing will get done. At least we both have the day before the cruise to get any last min stuff done.

Have a great day
Nicole

Here is your next question for the special FE gift.

During the construction of Disneyland, where did Walt get the street lamps that line Main Street U.S.A. and how much did he pay for them???

The FE is cute:)

Thank you both for the kind words! One more thing off my list. Just found out my magnet paper won't go through either of our printers, so need to figure out how to get those done:headache: My to do list keeps getting shorter, though, WOW, in two weeks we will be boarding the ship :cool1::cool1:

I am just back from a few days at the beach and now I am buckling down to finish up the last of our cruise planning. Packing will start soon and I am still trying to figure out how I am going to create the magnets I want. I may just reduce my ambitions.

Your FE is terrific! You won't see many others with custom metal work! :thumbsup2

Boston and Philadelphia?

I had the same problem. Last cruise I just printed them on card stock, laminated them and then I cut up business card-sized magnets and stuck them to the back (I got blank ones with a sticky side from Staples).

This cruise I am going to print them on sticker paper (also from Staples, with the other specialty printer papers) and then stick the sticker part onto the magnetic sheets, and then cut them to size. The downside of using the magnetic sheets is that they are heavier than just a few well-placed magnets, but I found that the ones I used for the last cruise bowed a little where the magnet didn't attach. I did find the laminating to be helpful (you can get self-adhesive laminating sheets at Staples too, no laminating machine or heat required). Also, be sure to put your name/stateroom on each magnet (even just on the back)--while none of ours went missing last year, we did have a couple that got moved a few doors and were then returned because of the room number.

Hope that helps! Can't wait to see everyone's doors/FEs :goodvibes

I think it is very cute, and not at all cheesy! And your DH did a great job with the topper :)

Thank you for these great tips, I'm feeling better about it now as we do have a laminator and I do have some nice cardstock for cardmaking that I can print on. :dance3:

Just wanted to tell everyone that after the 12th, you will need to contact me using the contact info I emailed--we are taking off for Vancouver on the 13th! We are excited to see everyone at both cruise meets, and it's really starting to feel real now.

I am on the 30th cruise and have been lurking, and I enjoyed reading all your posts.

I wanted to wish Mellors congrats for the great health news,
and thanks to Pops for the wonderful tests of the Disney mind.
(I am not smarter than a 5th grader).

I just wanted to wish you all a great cruise!:thumbsup2

You know when you get to thinking "oh theres still....weeks til we go away, theres plenty of time for..." and then you suddenly realise that its just over a WEEK until you go and you STILL have loads of things to do?

Thats how I woke this morning!:scared1::rotfl2:

So I have sent DH off with DS to go get him a couple of pairs of cruise cas. trousers to wear around the ship in the evening so that we can keep his jeans and joggers for daytime/excursions - so that I can then start the packing - well he will need to get the cases out of the loft later today too!:rotfl:

I have made sure that the last of My FE gifts are in hand and hope that they arrive over the weekend.

And I have just made a last minute request for magnets.

I so hope I have it all organised now. may even go start a TR:thumbsup2

Its a really wet day here today - maybe its a sign that I should be thinking cruise prep and not heading outside with the kids:)

NOT LONG NOW!

I just need to make it through 7 more work days! :)

Jojo, you are right it is amazing how the time has flown! I am sitting at my computer watching 101 Dalmatians, and working on my packing list. My last FE "ingredient" should arrive today and I can get those packed up and mailed out to our hotel. And I still haven't read my guide books!

I just need to make it through 7 more work days! :)

Almost finished with work today. Then only 5 more work days!!! Hopefully I will finish up the FE gifts between tonight and tomorrow night and I will start packing this weekend!!!

Mellers-
I was going over my FE list and checking the ship map post #1194. There seems to be marked 6532 as a Pluto group room, I do not see anyone listed in that room. Did someone change rooms since that post? I don't want to miss anyone in my group. Would you mind checking your map. Thanks for all you have done to organize these groups. :)
