I just wanted to say thanks again to all who sent prayers and good wishes regarding my grandma ... she passed away peacefully at noon today with family at her side. The last few days have been an emotional rollercoaster, but we know she is in a better place now.

It appears that we will be cruising to Alaska after all - though at the moment it's a bit of a bittersweet realization.

Sending many prayers and warm thoughts to you and your family. Having gone through a personal loss back in March (my DMIL). I understand your feelings at this time. It is so rational for us to say that we know they are in a better place (because they are!), but our emotions aren't very rational. You will continue to be on a rollercoaster for a while, I'm sure. So glad you have this trip to look forward to. I know I have found it to be a wonderful distraction to 'life'

Well, we have FINAL made our hotel resie...We will be at the Renaissance Harbourside Hotel...CHECK.

We may drive up to Whistler but we are still deciding what to do, what to do...

Went to Micheal's AGAIN last night and more of my supplies were in. So, most of you will get my main FE gift I think I will start creating those I have and then when the other items come in I can just do the assembly part.

Well, we are heading out to get a few more things to add to the suitcase...my DS 10 is growing like a bad weed...when did he get so tall? Where is the flood?

I even had my DH up this morning helping, checking, planning, looking up things, calling Disney Visa to see how much money we have

Still think we may switch our room as DH said last night, "I'm going to Alaska with no view...I need a view." UGHHH. I have asked him that for almost a year and half!

It looks as if I will be able to attend the Day-Before Meet. It will be just myself -- DW and DD will stay with my in-laws.

I have a curiosity question about the ship deck plans. I see that public areas are in white, while crew-only areas are shaded. There are three areas that have a diagonal white-shaded pattern:

* Vista Spa & Salon
* Route 66 lounge & nightclub district
* The label for Mickey's Splash Zone

Initially I thought that this pattern designated adult-only areas -- but that wouldn't apply to the Splash Zone. Does anyone know what this designation refers to?

I kept meaning to say something--and kept forgetting, but I did want you to know that the in-laws are also welcome--my parents will also be attending the pre-cruise meet, and will be on the cruise, and would love to meet some other older people.

1. You can make (or purchase) any kind of gift you want, any way you want for the other cabins. It can be one gift for everyone, a package gift, one gift for kids and one gift for adults, or individual gifts for each person, or some other combination I didn't list.

2. If you are on the "Mickey Group" List, you are only responsible for giving gifts to the cabins on the "Mickey Group" List. If you are on the "Pluto Group" List, you are only responsible for giving gifts to cabins on the "Pluto Group" list. If you "arrh" on the "Pirate Group" List, you are only responsible for giving gifts to the cabins on the "Pirate Group" List. Each listed cabin should give a gift.

3. Nobody should feel like they need to "break the bank"--not on the gifts, shipping, or luggage fees. This should be fun, not a burden on anyone.

4. You can deliver your gifts any day or time you want, as long as they are delivered before noon on 8/22.

5. The Mickey, Pluto and Pirate Groups have all closed.

6. If I have made a mistake on your celebrations, the list(s) that you want, or your information, please let me know ASAP.

7. Whether or not you are participating in the FE, you are welcome at the cruise get-together. We are planning to have it in Diversions at 3 p.m. August 16th (Children are allowed in Diversions at that hour). If somebody has reserved Diversions (I have not), and it is not available, we'll all meet in the Promenade Lounge at 3 p.m. Kids and teens are welcome.

8. Whether or not you are participating in the FE, you are welcome at the pre-cruise get-together. While you do not have to let me know you are coming, if you know you are coming, it's helpful for me to know so I can get a bigger table. However, if it looks like you can come last-minute, come anyway--it'll be fine . It will be at 5 p.m. August 15th at the White Spot in Richmond, BC (near the airport). If you need something before the cruise, we'll be near a large shopping mall (Lansdowne Centre), so that might be of help.

The White Spot is at 5880 No. 3 Road (No. 3 Road and Ackroyd), Richmond, BC V6X 2E1. There are two White Spots on No. 3 Road, so you'll want to make sure you're at the closest to the Lansdowne Shopping Centre, at the Ackroyd cross street. If you are staying at Canada Place, and don't have a car or don't want to drive, take the Canada Line from the waterfront to the Lansdowne Station. It's just a short distance down No. 3 Road past the shopping centre. You'll probably see the big sign when you get down from the station (the station exits onto No. 3 Road). Kids and teens are welcome.

If you need parking, you might want to consider getting a hotel near the airport. You'll likely save money if you get a park and fly deal from one of the Vancouver Airport hotels--you could drop off your family and luggage, drive the car back, and then take the SkyTrain to the port. The FourPoints Sheraton Vancouver Airport has one of these deals.
