August 12, 2011 Disney Dream Meet Link Here

Yay! Activity in our thread. Love it!:cool1:

FE
We went to Busch Gardens in Tampa last Sunday and DH found our old FE from our last cruise. I will fix up where the seems were bursting from all the gifts we receive and we should be good to go.

Have we set a date when we are going to stop adding to the list or should we keep it going until July? What are your thoughts if you are participating?

CareBear05 -Aw, join in. It is so much fun! You never know when you are going to get a little gift and it only takes about 30 minutes to a hour to pass out the gifts. It adds more excitement to the cruise! Also, I did the parasailing on our last Magic cruise and I say go for it! I am a little afraid of heights, but it was on my bucket list to try, so I went with it. It was truly breathtaking up there and not scary at all. They do dunk you when you come back in, so dress appropriately!

Palo
We are still booked for our brunch, we gave up our tea, and will probably cancel dinner shortly as we do not want to miss any of the nights in the main dining room.

DVC
DH and I have gone back and forth about joining, but with all the Florida discounts we get, it does not pay for us. Who knows, maybe one day, but for now, we are not joining.

lexandme -I will be decorating our door! I starting getting our magnets ready last month and actually finished some already. Must get back to it so I can check it off of my list.

jlwatkins -DH and I have stayed at the Disney Vero Beach resort twice. I love it there! We have only stayed in the hotel portion and it was so relaxing. The pool is fun (they have a nice water slide) and the beach is great.

I also was wondering at what point we would close the FE list - I know our list isn't super long but will be nice to have a date so we can be sure and finish our gifts.

Have any of you used RideMax for WDW tour plans? We are planning out our pre-cruise stay and have heard they are good...

I would also like to start working on door decorations - I want to surprise the kids with that, need to start requesting some artwork.

Glad to see more posts here - August 12 will be here before you know it - can't wait!!! :yay:

Hello Again:

Although this is our 3rd cruise, I am just a man......if I can use that for a excuse? I am not sure what FE stands for. I have a idea that we would put something on our door for collection, and we would drop off little gifts for others.....am I on the right track?

I have no small children, so if that would exclude me I totally understand, but please let me know before closing the door on who will join and participate.

So all you DVC members - it's really a savings isn't it? I'm pushing DH again to consider joining. We received another flyer in the mail last week and he hid it from me!!!:scared1:

If you are committed to Disney vacations......I think it is a no brainer.

I am not a number cruncher, but I have been to Disneyworld well over 20 times in the last 18 years, and two cruises (soon to be three) on DVC points, I naturally have spent plenty of money on food, tickets, etc.

Without DVC we would have not gone (and in style) to Disneyworld every year (a few times twice in one year). Although we have paid dues.....those dues have not exceded what it would have cost to pay cash. And for the few times we may have gone, I would have most likely stayed off site......not enjoying all the perks that go along with staying on site.

I know this will change in the next few years, but I could sell my points today for a profit.....after 18 years of enjoying them.

I was not sure in 1993 (scared to be honest) ....we actually purchased sight unseen.......no regrets and so many priceless family memories.

We have taken family & friends over the years......and this was a blessing to many who could not afford to pay for a disney vacation......but when they could stay in a two bedroom unit along with us (kids would end up sleeping anywhere) they could now afford to come with us.

Gary,

This is our first cruise, but from what I have read, the FE is not just for kids - I think many adults participate as well and you would be welcome to join in!

I have no small children, so if that would exclude me I totally understand, but please let me know before closing the door on who will join and participate.

You are not excluded! You are on the right track on what you think FE (Fish Extender) is. If you want me to include you, just let me know who is in your cabin, ages for children, as well as your cabin number. Hope you join in! We have a small group, so it will not be overwelming. Last time we did it, we had over 30 cabins (maybe even over 40, I can't remember!). It took me about 1 hour to do all the participating cabins.

We are getting so excited too! I've been looking at getting tickets for Sea World and Aquatica for after the cruise. I think we are going to order them from Undercover Tourist, but we are waiting for a few more weeks to see if they are going to run any specials...not that I think that they are going to!!!

We are leaving on the 21st for England for my sister in law's wedding...we just have to get through the end of school this week for Nick and me...(the kids finished on Friday.) Packing for that is going to be :scared1:!!! At least we have a few days off between the end of school and the flight out!

We also thought about DVC too. Nick and I went for the tour and got all of the info last year. We came pretty close to doing it, but when we came home and really looked at the numbers - for our family of 5 (we would have to go into a bigger place), being teachers we could only go either during high season in December or in the summer when there are specials (can't take advantage of any specials through DVC)... and we only stay in Moderates now (DVC prices really compare more for people who generally stay in Deluxe we were told)...when we compared what we normally spend and what DVC would cost it would have taken us about 35 years to break even. We were a little disappointed because we really wanted it to work for us!!! We love going and have been going every year for the past 4 years and have been on 2 cruises...this will be our 3rd.

Okay.......I spoke with DW and Janet agrees with me that this will be fun.....and she is the crafty person in the family.......so count us in. We are in cabin's #8063 and #8065.

I need more details please on how the process of fish extenders works. What kind of gifts do we give, what do we hang on our doors. Maybe pictures or links to ideas, pictures or whatever will help.

I am Gary (55) DW Janet (??) DD Jenn (21) DD Stacey (17) DD Robin (16 by cruise time).

Last cruise we went on was a few years back. I remember being invited to a DVC get together one afternoon while on the Wonder. I don't remember the actual purpose (whether it was to offer discounts on add on point purchase or just for fun) I do remember a trivia game and I remember getting a few red hats with DVC logo.

Are there other DVC members lurking, that can offer insight on if this is a regular occourance ?

Gary - If you go to ebay you can see some examples of fish extenders. I have seen all kinds from very elaborate to very plain and simple. We saw one cabin hang a plastic grocery bag - whatever gets the job done!
As far as FE gifts, some of the things we have received in the past were stickers, pencils, pins, plastic jewelry, pirate eye patches, small notepads, magnets, temporary tatoos, etc. Most were Disney related and some were from specific states or cities. Some were homemade and some store bought. Whatever you decide, it's a lot of fun!:yay:

Last cruise we took I remember there was a DVC get together. I remember this because I was terribly jealous and wanted to sneak in!:guilty:

Have a great day everyone!
(I am so glad everyone decided to post. I look forward to checking the thread every morning now!)

Allright -- glad to see some excitement on here now! I must say, though, my DW (Momto2girls) has been excited enough for all of my family...but now that we are close (59 days to go!), I'll get on board with the excitement too!

Hi Gary

We went on The Wonder last year and there were definitely a few of these on that cruise. We didn't make it to any of the meetings but I heard that someone won about 300 dollars on board credit.

We did go to a members meeting at BLT last year and like you we won a prize of a DVC back pack. Apparently these aren't being offered now as BLT is almost sold out but there are still the weekly welcome home Wednesday's at Atlantic Hall.

Hope this helps.

Gary, I was on the Dream this April and the DVC celebration was on the day we board the ship around 2pm I believe. I wanted to let you know so you can try to squeeze it in. I did not think I would be able to go because you know, there is so much to do on a new ship and who wants to be stuck inside for over an hour! But we ended up going and enjoyed ourselves, when are you going to get free all you can drink alcohol on a Disney ship?? :rotfl:

They did give out hats, this time around they are white caps with a Mickey silhouette, really nice in my opinion :thumbsup2 Even if you do not make it to the celebration, stop by their desk on deck 4 and ask them for the hats, I'm sure they will give them to you:cool1:

Thanks for the great information - we will have lots of fun planning this

Last night at dinner I told DW Janet that we could find examples of FE's on eBay.

She looked and got totally excited about this whole concept......then she came up with a great idea for us to share with everyone......she's very crafty.

This will be so much fun.....and it takes us out of our norm.

Will we all get together at some point when we are are the cruise?

Seems quiet today.......GET EXCITED ONLY 59 DAYS AWAY
