August 12, 2011 Disney Dream Meet Link Here

Last night at dinner I told DW Janet that we could find examples of FE's on eBay.

She looked and got totally excited about this whole concept......then she came up with a great idea for us to share with everyone......she's very crafty.

This will be so much fun.....and it takes us out of our norm.

Will we all get together at some point when we are are the cruise?

Seems quiet today.......GET EXCITED ONLY 59 DAYS AWAY

We need to plan a meet and greet on board. Anyone have any ideas? I know there was a secret verandah on the Wonder and Magic on Deck 7. Anyone know if there's one on the Dream? No one's come clean about having the Walt or Roy suites yet!:rotfl2:

I went to Michael's craft store on my lunch break and got a few supplies for our FE. It's going to be pretty simple unless I change my mind.

It's nice to drop down into the 50's! Only 59 Days!!

We are totally excited too! Today was my last day of school with my students so it is starting to feel like summer! :goodvibes Only one day of meetings and then summer really begins. :cool2:

We are also up for a meet too. There seem to be a nice amount of kids all around the same ages, so that would be fun for them to be able to meet!

Since you were on the Dream.......do you know a place we can meet?

Glad to know I wasn't the only Michael's bound one today. I went after work today to get supplies for my gifts!

I'm hitting up my second mom next door to help me (aka, do it for me because I, and my real mom, are both sewing illiterate) sew my FE. Simple is definitely the way I (she) am going.

Anyone doing door magnets? I'm thinking about it because it looks great and fun, but I just don't know if I want another project or not.

Nick and I think that from what we can remember that 2 places we could meet are Currents (which is an outside bar area on deck 13) right above the Quiet Cove pool. It is open for all ages.... or Club 687 on Deck 4 in the District Area. That is a sports bar/club that is open for all ages during the day...(Club 687 is inside.)

I'm not sure if one is better than the other, but I guess the inside choice might be safer since we would not have to worry about the weather, but the outside one is closer to the "action." Decisions....decisions!!!

Gary, I've lived around here pretty much my whole life too. I grew up in Blue Bell and went to Wissahickon - now I teach there! I'm in Montgomeryville fairly often. What a small world! :goodvibes

Hey Gary! You are right around the corner from us at home and on the Dream! We are in 8051 and 8053!

Hi Lani......Its hard to believe this communication started in March 2010. Now its almost here.....glad your done school....that must feel good!

My DD21 Jenn sends me a text almost every other day......she is working this summer in Busch Gardens, VA with Sesame Street show (she works in costume design). Working with the characters.......makes her crave our Disney Cruise even more than normal.......and then I feed off her excitement.

I noticed that you said you are not doing FE's this cruise.....we have never done it before,(never heard of it before) but we are doing it this time. Anything we should know?

I was just asking DW Janet tonight about door magnets..... she showed me some crazy pictures of doors last night........looks like fun!

Does anyone make t-shirts? Last year for our Disney vacation, I found myself asking others on the dis for personal dis signs and then I printed them on transfer paper and DW ironed them on for me (I could not get them straight.....and I had little patience). Some turned out great and others were so so......but I have learned to not use bright color shirts for hot summer vacations.......anyone out there to share ideas with?

It does feel good! Only 1 more "get up" for teacher meetings tomorrow and then we are finished!!! I can't believe how long we have been talking about this cruise, and it really is almost here.... it is hard to believe!

We went to Busch Gardens in VA about 3 years ago - the kids had so much fun there. It really is a nice park. We are doing Sea World and Aquatica this time after the cruise, and we thought about doing Busch Gardens in Tampa too since to add that park to the combo ticket was only $20 more, but we didn't feel like driving to Tampa....

We did do the FE on our first cruise. The perfectionist in me had a really hard time deciding what to get in the first place. Trying to find room for all of the FE stuff in our suitcases was a challenge. (This time we are driving so I guess I don't have that excuse...) Then it took Nick and Matt about 1 1/2 to 2 hours to deliver all of the gifts around the entire ship...and that was on the Wonder. However, the kids really did enjoy coming back to the room and finding all of their FE things.

I asked the kids if they wanted to do it again this time because I would have done it again for them if they wanted to...but they didn't. So, I can see why people do it and don't. I would have gone either way....

We did do door magnets last time and think we will again...

Good morning all!:surfweb:

Gary - don't panic about the FE. From looking at the list, our group is very small.. I don't think it will take that long to deliver gifts. And if we don't assign days you can take your time and do it in shifts! My FE gifts are very small - for packing purposes.

A woman on our last cruise worked for a printing company and she made us all bright green t-shirts. It was a Thanksgiving cruise and we were the "Traveling Turkeys". She used Mickey's hand as the body of the turkey (like a child's drawing). She also made us green rubber bracelets. She mailed our shirts before the trip and we all wore them the first day. We could easily identify each other!

I made t-shirts last trip as well. I may do it again this time too. I need to find a picture of a theme for the 3 of us.

I will probably bring a few magnets to put on our door. I need to buy magnet paper and printer ink.

Have a great day everyone ºoº

Oh we are looking forward to this!

I learn something new every day......where do you buy magnet paper?

I would have printed on regular paper then glued it to a magnet......magnet paper sounds easier.

The ones I made last year were for myself, my wife and two of my three DD's.

My one daughter wasn't happy with the shirt's I made for her, she said the plastic from the iron on was too hard......I purchased iron on material last evening from e_Bay. The seller's ad claimed it is stretchy....hopefully this will work better.

I am open to ideas from anyone that makes t-shirt decals.

You can get it online or at an office supply store....you might want to shop around for it because last time we found that some places were much more expensive than others. I have not started looking yet, but if I find a good price I will let you know!

Magnets-I just spent an hour personalizing our magnets for our doors. Glad to be able to mark that off my to do list!:cool1:

Have been lurking on this board for a while now, would like to join in the FE. We did it on our last cruise and my kids are excited to do it again! We are cabin 6098 John, Becky (bkoehl), Jack (DS9) and Rebecca (DD6). BTW, no allergies here.

Already have my magnets and FE from before, glad I don't have that stress this time around. Can't wait to get on the Dream!

Last time, I purchased magnetic paper from Amazon and it was a great deal ($8.25 for 25 sheets). I also like to use the magnets that have a sticky side on top (for business cards) and cut them into strips and apply on the back of my pictures printed on heavy duty paper. I did both last time and the magnets worked great!

Welcome, Becky!! I have a DD named Rebecca who is also 6. We will have to have them meet each other on the cruise. :)

Welcome Becky and family!!

I bought magnet paper at Staples last time but I have seen it at Walmart too. I have also printed on card-stock, laminated and put magnet strips across the back. Lamination is out this time because I had my husband do it at school and school is out for the summer!:teacher:

Gary - I'm with your daughter on the t-shirts! Mine were stiff and no one liked them either! Let me know how the stretchy fabric works out.

Chylynn - I think you forgot me on the updated FE list?

We have the following groups to help with making/purchasing your FE gifts:

Children under 7
-3 girls

Children 7-12 -5 girls; 3 boys

Teens -5 girls; 4 boys

Adults- 19

Hope this helps you guys. Also, are we going to do set days for when you deliver or just deliver when you want/have time? Did we decide where we are going to meet up on the first day? I read the outlook is a great place to meet.

In the interest of getting this forum active ......lets introduce ourselves again and for those who have been on a Disney Cruise before..... lets list some things that we enjoy doing, the different activities, shows, clubs, things for families, the different pools, tips on getting lounge chairs, the buffet when we board, what time do you get on board on that first day. Things that are different on the Dream, do you like the restaurant rotations, do you play bingo, do you buy pictures ?????

I actually know nothing about pirate night......don't know if it existed on our other two cruises......but if it did...we missed it. I never saw fireworks from the ship.......I sometimes wonder if I am just oblivious?

My Name is Gary, I am from PA in the south east part of the state. I am 55. MY DW is Janet, we have three daughters DD-Jenn21 DD-Stacey17 DD-Robin16

We will fly to Orlando the day of the cruise and we have a car rental booked one way to Cape Cameral We expect to be arriving to the terminal by noon.

On our first cruise all our children went to the kids clubs, second cruise the teen clubs.....this cruise our oldest daughter can't go to the teen clubs with her sisters......she is a adult now.

On our second cruise we had just a fantastic waiter & crew. Every night they would show my girls another napkin animal or trick, and with teenagers, some nights attitude is everything, but with our wait staff.....we had smiles and anticipation with every meal.

I enjoy the game shows and family oriented stuff. On the first cruise my DD Jenn and myself were picked as contestants on a pirate type game show. We also participated on a walk around the ship......don't remember if it was a race, but we did get metals on a red, white & blue ribbon...... she & I still both have these medals.

Okay.....hopefully this will jump start some excitement
:yay:
