Hello:

Just booked a 4 day cruise on the Disney Dream for August 12,2011

My name is Gary, my wife and 3 adult/teenage daughters are coming with me.

This will be our 3rd Disney cruise. The others were both on the Wonder. Our first was 2001 and our second was 2008.

We are from PA, not far from Philly.

My oldest daughter will be 21, middle daughter will be 17 and youngest will be 16. I am thrilled that all my girls are still happy to vacation with us old folks.

Really looking forward to this cruise on the Dream!

Gary Pinkos

I have added your thread to the cruise meet list :thumbsup2

Hi Gary! We will also be joining you on this cruise, and we are from right outside of Philly too! My name is Lani and my DH is Nick. We have 3 boys.... Matt will be 13 at the time of the cruise, and our twins Jack and Ryan will be 8 at the time of the cruise.

This will be our 2nd Disney cruise....our 1st was in August on the Wonder.

We are really looking forward to sailing on the Dream too!!!

Hi Lani:
I am new to these boards, so between booking the cruise and looking at all the great information on DIS boards.... I am overwhemed!

My family are also DVC owners since 1994 at OKW and we are going to OKW in July for 10 days......life is good! :goofy:

My oldest daughter can't come with us this year, but at 21 she will be with us on the cruise, next to me.....she is the most excited about the cruise, although all the family is looking forward to our Dream cruise!

We will also be on the Dream for the August 12, 2011 cruise. My wife and I have two sons who will be 14 and 9 at the time of the cruise. This will be our 3rd Disney cruise, having sailed on the Wonder in June 2007 and the Magic in October 2009. Looking forward to a great trip!

Hi everyone! We will also be on this cruise...It will be me, DH, DFIL, DGMIL, and our 4 daughters...Ages 15, 12, 6 and just over a year old at the time of cruise. We are doing a back to back sailing with the cruise before this one...So 9 nights on board for us.

This will be my 12th Disney cruise, DH's 11th, 9th for DD's and our baby's 3rd cruise.

We are doing 6 nights before at WDW. We are DVC members at AKV, and SSR, so it will be one of those resorts for us!

We are so excited about the back to back, the kids know about this cruise, but they don't know about the 8/7/2011 cruise. We are surprising them for Christmas this year...We will be at WDW for Christmas 2010 and we figured what a better present than a cruise!

I am so glad to see that more people are joining us! Welcome to everyone! :cheer2:

BalooHoo, We have boys who are very close in age!

Tinkerbelle77, you sure have been on a lot of Disney cruises!!! :worship: We also go to WDW over Winter Break since DH and I are both teachers...we have been the past 3 years. We are not going this year because summer 2011 is going to be a BIG travel summer for us. My SIL is getting married in England so all 5 of us are going there for about 3 weeks - then in August is the Dream cruise (and hopefully some time at WDW or maybe Universal - we've never been - before!)

Its great to see some activity here!

WOW tinkerbelle77 9 days on dream and 6 days at WDW......is this all with points?

We are DVC members, at OKW since lat 1993 or early 1994.

We also have a 10 day trip for July 2010 at OKW, but my oldest daughter isn't able to come on this trip......of all my 3 daughters, she is the biggest Disney fan.

I first tried to book the 5 day dream cruise for the 16th of August, but with our points, we use two inside staterooms, and everything in our range was already booked.

We also looked at the August 16th date - that's our anniversary and thought it would be nice, but it's $2,000 more and we really could not justify that much more money for one more day on CC. I know that a lot of people LOVE it there, and we had a great time while there - but I'm not sure it was worth $2,000 more to us. I think we would rather take that money and put it toward some days at the World or possibly try Universal!

Gary, you really do live near us! We live in Lafayette Hill, and I teach in Ambler.

We also started by looking at the 5 day cruise departing August 16, but this one suited our schedule better. Our kids will probably start school on Monday, August 22, so returning on August 21 would have been too tight. We decided to compromise by taking a 4 day cruise but staying longer at WDW before we go. We haven't decided where to stay yet, but it will likely be BWV.

3smithboys, I was glad to see that your boys are close in age to mine. It will be interesting to see how the kids' areas differ on the Dream compared to the Magic and the Wonder once the Dream sets sail and we get some first-hand reports.

Gary...Not all on points, the 6 night stay will be on points and one of our rooms on the dream 8/7 is on points the rest is cash...We have 350 points at AKV and 500 at SSR, but its never enough.

We were doing a 12 day trip in June 2010, but then I found out I was expecting our 4th child, so we moved that trip to 8 nights during spring break 2010. I'm sorry to hear that your daughter can't make the trip..Is she going on the cruise?

We wanted to book the 8/7 dream on cash and the price difference at that time between 8/7 and 8/12 was remarkably high, so we booked the 8/12 and decided a 2nd stop at CC and a extra day was not worth the $$. But I noticed the price has dropped and we booked.

Hi tinkerbelle77:

We purchases the AP's last August, but my oldest daughter can't go on our trip July 2010 before they expire, so we will go without her on this trip. But while on Christmss break, she went to OKW for 9 days with two college friends.....so I don't feel too guilty.....although I do still feel a little guilty!

This is also the reason I wanted to book our 2011 cruise now, she has a very small window between working and start of classes, and I wanted to be sure she was able to come with us.....She will be 21 next year and I am guessing taking vacations with falimy won't last forever. :confused3

She goes to school for costume design, and her summer job is working on costumes at the PA Shakespeare festival. I am hoping she will apply at Disney for a semister, I think it would be a awesome and lifechanging experience.

Hi Lani:
We are members of the Disney vacation club, so we are using our points rather than cash. I never did a cash to point conversion, but the points needed for the 5 day were not too many more than the 4 day that we have booked. We stay in the most inexpensive inside rooms (2 side by side rooms) we rarely are in the rooms.

I don't know Lafayette Hill too well (only by driving through it) but I know Ambler pretty well. We have lived in Montgomeryville about 14 years, before that Warminster, Hatboro, I grew up in Roslyn......so have been in the area my whole life.

Gary

We also looked into becoming DVC members and almost did it, but it just didn't make sense for us because we tend to go to WDW at Winter Break. For the 5 of us, the amount of points we needed was so many it would take too many years to break even. When we sat down and figured it out - I was really disappointed because I wanted to do it....but I could not wrap my head around the numbers. Since we are both teachers, our travel dates are not flexible at all.

Gary, I've lived around here pretty much my whole life too. I grew up in Blue Bell and went to Wissahickon - now I teach there! I'm in Montgomeryville fairly often. What a small world! :goodvibes

Since we booked so early, we were able to get two inside connecting rooms. We've never tried this before and are kind of excited to do so....the virtual portholes sound interesting - and we like the idea of 2 rooms!

We did two rooms on our last cruise as well, gave us so much extra room.....the extra bathroom is great with all girls.......not to mention the added privacy was priceless!

Hi Everyone.
We just booked our first disney cruise! We'll be going with our two sons (13 & 15 at the time we sail). It's their first time on a cruise or on a tropical island. We visit WDW every summer (DVC members) and will be following up the cruise with another visit of course. We have lots to learn and lots of disboard reading to keep us busy until next summer!!

Hello & Welcome:

My name is Gary, my wife is Janet, celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary this coming August. We have 3 daughters.....20, 16 and 14. This will be our 3rd Disney cruise. Our 1st cruise was in 2000, the 2nd was 2008, both on the Disney Wonder.

Your boys will love the clubs on the ship. If they are anything like my girls, they will be disappointed when not in thier clubs.

Where do you call home at DVC, we call home Old Key West......have owned since 1992

Gary

Hi Gary.
We started going to Disney in 2003, but didn't buy DVC until 2005. Our home resort is Saratoga, but we've never stayed there. We've stayed in Wilderness Lodge, Boardwalk, and Animal Kingdom. We're not using points for the cruise though, (didn't have enough).

I'm not sure how my boys will take to the clubs. They are a bit shy, but I'm sure they'll come out of their shell pretty quickly. And since they'll be 13 & 16 year old boys at the time, I can't see them having a problem hanging out in a club with a bunch of teenage girls. :cool1:

Welcome NJDisFans! :cheer2: My name is Lani and my DH is Nick. We have 3 boys who will be 13, 8, and 8 at the time of the cruise. Their names are Matt, Jack, and Ryan.

The kids don't know that we are going yet, but we have been dropping hints about the "new Disney ship" and all of the cool new things that are slowly being released. All of the new Disney Innovations they are putting into the Dream sound fantastic - we are getting really excited! (We don't have much longer to wait right! :rotfl2:)

We actually just got back late last night from trying our first Carnival cruise, and while we had a fun time - it was not Disney.

and my husband and I... :-) We are Mike, Jan, Sam and Noah. I would love for our daughter Sam to find someone to pal around with some on this cruise. Anyone out there that has someone that is kind of into the eclectic music, Paramour, Fall Out Boy, that style. She isn't into the sun scene, she is proud of her lack of tanness  Noah, who will be 11 is into sports, basketball, baseball etc...

Soooo excited about sailing on the Dream! We are from NC, near Raleigh if anyone happens to be from around this area. This will be our 4rth Disney cruise :-) We actually added points onto our DVC our last cruise(this past August) and this is our first cruise that we are using points for  I am loving it!!

Looking forward to getting to know you guys before the cruise!! :-)
