August 12, 2011 Disney Dream Meet Link Here

Hey everyone!
Just dropped by to say hello from WDW (yay we're actually here!) - you guys have really been busy!
We're celebrating our wedding anniversary today - 16 years. Just got back from The Wild Africa Trek - I survived the trek and Jason didn't feed me to the crocodiles! ;)

Hello and welcome to the newest members - we will try and sort something out with FE for you but it wont have a British theme as those were sorted when we were back in the UK.

2 weeks today and we'll all be meeting!
Luke is really looking forward to making new friends. As he's 10 he doesn't qualify for the tweens club. He really enjoyed the clubs on The Wonder last year especially The Out and About Club which had a sports focus.
Have a great day everyone! :thumbsup2

Happy Friday Everyone! I sprung myself early from work today.. Only because I have to work tomorrow :lmao: Ah well, the hospital never closes.. Plus it's job security, right? (Not that I want anyone to be sick).

I got my FE today!! I'm gonna try to figure out how to post a pic.. It is the cutest thing.

I still can't believe that we only have this weekend and next weekend to get things done for the trip. I started a list, but then decided I am going to go buy some new clothes instead of work on the list :rolleyes1

How many more days for everyone?

Oh yeah, Hi Rae!! I see you missed meeeeee :dance3: I've been around, but mostly just reading the other posts lol

Happy Anniversary Lindsey and Jason. There's no better place to spend your special day, that's for sure!

And Lani, our boys will all get along very well. Mine are big soccer and baseball fans too!

I can't wait to officially meet everyone :flower1:

Hey there Jamey. Did you go shopping? Melina and I just got back from the outlets and got Trev some cargo shorts from Aero for 18.00:banana: it's just too darn hot to continue to shop up there. I'm quite jealous of Lindsey already being in Disney. I think Tina gets there tomorrow. We got our FE's today too. Too cute! Cara, my husband says there should be a rule on the boat...no words with friends!:rotfl::rotfl2::lmao:

:scared1:OMG. The pirate:Pirates need to pull this Morton guy. I think having all of his family there to see him has made him a little nervous! 7-0 really? Oops, I mean 8-0!!!!!

Poor guy...he does seem a bit nervous...first he hit Ruiz, then he hits his own catcher....yikes!!! :scared1: He can stay for a few more innings though... :rotfl2:

Jamey - glad to here that your boys are also into baseball and soccer!!!

Cara - we must talk. I love the Pens too- does it get any better than watching Fleury? My chiropractor is also a good friend, my DS rugby coach and the chiropractor for the Pens. He also will adjust dogs and cats on Tuesday nights. I have a standing Tuesday night appt. and I get to play with Pascal's 2 Bernese Mt. dogs and his big grey cat when he's in town and not playing. He's a very nice guy.

Judy, I'm jealous!! I'll be attending one of the appointments with you! :rotfl: My father LOVES Dupers. He went to a signing for me (I have the Stanley Cup picture and I'm slowing getting everyone's signatures on it) since I couldn't get out of work on time for it.... Pascal took the 30 seconds to make my fathers day and said he loved my father's hat (he wears the fedora's)... let me tell you, I came home and he was like a kid at Christmas "Pascal Dupuis said he liked my hat!!!!!!" He just kept saying it over and over, completely tickled pink!

You'll have to come to a game with me this year!! I'm always looking for people to join me! Wouldn't that be fun!!

Big Ben....what he did made me ill also.....but he just got married, hopefully he has changed as well?

I seriously worry that the wedding was just a public stunt to get the heat off of him. Time shall tell.

Happy Anniversary!!!! :lovestruc Glad you are getting to spend it in the best place in the world!!

Cara, my husband says there should be a rule on the boat...no words with friends!:rotfl::rotfl2::lmao:

That's hilarious!!!! I'm getting to be a pro. I had about 8 games going on last night and have no idea how I kept up!!

11 days left here. I can't believe we'll be down to single digits on Sunday!! :cool1:

I do have a favor for everyone....keep Mama K (she's in the FB group) in your thoughts and prayers. She found out earlier this week that her vocal chords have hemorrhaged. Her voice is not only beautiful, but her living as well. She can't talk for a week (the whiteboard made a trip to see U2 with us) or risks permanent damage. She has her follow up appointment to determine what happens next and we're all keeping our fingers crossed for her.

Wow! Everyone is so chatty. Rae - The Stillers are talking to Plaxico Buress. He was with the Stillers then went to NY and shot himself and went to jail. Convicted felon. Ben is a rapist. (Did I say that?) A smarm is just a jagoff jerk.

Ian loves to talk rugby! His non-negotiable when choosing a college was they had to have a good rugby team. He looked at Pitt, Slippery Rock, Duquesne and choose Cal basically because of their team! He named our golden retriever "Rugby". He's a forward, 4 position. It's a rough game and I worry sometimes!

Cara - I'll take you up on the Pens game. I haven't been to Consol Center yet. I hear it's wonderful. You know where Talbot lives, right? I work right down the street from him. I saw him in Pizza Sola one afternoon picking up a pie! And we can look at the Pens schedule to see when Pascal may come in to see Doc! He's in Mt Lebanon, on Washington Rd.
Keeping Mama K in my thoughts! Tell her I said to shut up!:upsidedow

I'm not watching the Pirate/Philly game. It was making me too nervous!

Spent 3 hours at Kennywood and couldn't wait to leave. It was too hot.
Funny how that heat doesn't bother me at WDW!

Lindsey and Jason - Congratulations! :love:Hope you are having a wonderful time.:bride::lovestruc

Judy, Nick just said Cal is the BEST for Rugby! He played mostly fullback... but said that he played every position in the back. I agree that it is brutal - it's the only sport he ever broke a bone - his leg!!!

There is no way Matt would ever play rugby - he is baseball all the way! Now the gruesome twosome (Jack and Ryan) - they are another story!!! I think if we were living in England, that would have been their sport! Nick's brother played for Kuwait's national team when he was living there a couple of years ago (he is an international teacher.) Now he is teaching in Guatemala - I know he is playing for a team over there - not sure if it is the national team or not...

Cara, I am praying for you. I hope her vocals will be okay.

Congratulations, Lindsey and Jason! Wow!! Enjoy your time in WDW before the cruise. :lovestruc

I am not a sports person, but I am reading about your chat about the teams!!popcorn:

Hi, I am new here and my family of 5 is sailing Aug. 12th. I have a 15yo son with autism, a 14yo daughter, and a 9yo daughter with aspergers. This is our first disney cruise, second cruise ever (sailed on the Carnival in '07). I am nervous because of the comments I have read about the ship being too big, too crowded, etc. I am really worried about the check-in process. The earliest boarding time I could get was 11:30, but we planned to be there at 10. My travel agent said I could still check-in but have to board with my group. I heard the waiting area was really small and that there was a long line out the door for hours. This will not be good for my kids with autism. My husband isn't crazy about the parks so I really hope a bad experience doesn't turn him off altogether.

Welcome:cheer2:
I have never been on the Dream so I can't speak to it's size or the crowds but I'm sure if you call DCL and explain your concerns about the check in process they will accommodate you. They are great about assisting families that have special requests.

I called and they told me to get there at 11:30 or I may not be allowed in the terminal if I'm too early.

I'd call again and talk to someone else. They have to be able to get you in without having to deal with the crowds and the wait. I know people who had a doctor write a letter explaining the situation and their needs and Disney has been great at accommodating them.

I'm going to wait till Monday to call back because the last time I called right back, I got the same CM! Being Saturday, I am guessing they have fewer people working.

Has there been a date decided for us all to meet, or a FB page? Just wondering how we will actually meet.

Hi there! There is a FB page that has been set up, just search Disney Dreamers August 2011 and ask to join. Cara will get you right in there.

We are meeting on the ship the first day at 2:30, but I'm glad you asked where, because I honestly don't remember. One of these days I was going to scour the pages on this board to find out where - but I guess now we can just ask together :rotfl:

My name is Jamey and my husband is Steve. We have 2 boys (Owen 11), (Dominick 10) and 1 girl (Tori 6). Glad to meet you here.

I wish I could be more help on the crowded issue, but this is our first cruise so we are newbies to the whole process. I was concerned about some of the blogs, etc. I read stating that the Dream was really crowded, expecially during boarding. I didn't want for us to get frustrated before we even get on the ship. So I'm glad I read about that and wasn't like :scared1: when I got to the port.

Is there something that I could do to help you out in anyway? I'm sorry that I do not know a whole lot about autism or asbergers, however I am more than happy to help you if I can. And I'm happy to learn  Maybe an extra set of hands to help you at the port or something? Again, sorry if that it not an option.

I think Judy's idea is best though. Disney is known for their ability to cater to special circumstances. And don't let that person who doesn't sound like they should be working for Disney discourage you. And if you get that person again, simply ask for a manager.

One thing's for sure, you found a great group of people here on this page

We are meeting at Club 687 at 2:30! It is in the District Area...

When Nick and I went in March, we thought that the terminal was pretty crowded and not very organized at all. We had boarding #2 so we were out of the mess pretty early... Also, having no kids with us at the time, it really was not a big deal to us, but if we had the kids, it would have probably been a different story.

I agree, call back again. Maybe wait until after the August 2nd sailing though. I have a feeling nobody seems to know what is going on with the terminal changes. (The port is now opening at 11:00.) Maybe after the change is made, they might have more of a clue as to how things are going to go :confused3. (or not) Either way, I would ask if there is a quiet place you could wait with your kids. Explain that crowds and loud noises are overstimulating and very upsetting to them. I'm sure this is nothing new - they have many children with autism who sail with them! :goodvibes If there are any other special needs that your kids have I believe there is a form that you can even fill out and send in ahead of time and let them know so they can be prepared.

One thing's for sure, you found a great group of people here on this page

Oh, by the way... I'm Lani, my DH is Nick. I have 3 boys... Matt (13), Jack (8) and Ryan (8). We are from Philadelphia! Welcome to the group! :wizard:

Awesome thanks! I am going to take something for them to snack on because my 9yo HAS to eat lunch at noon. She is something else. My son just gets bored real fast but will have his MP3 player and PSP. I just need to keep them entertained. The boarding process is the only thing I am worried about. We are driving and plan to get there at 11 now that the port has changed its hours. It's okay if the cabin isn't ready, I just don't want to be frustrated before boarding either. I requested to join the group :)
