For our last cruise we did Disney excursions. This time we wanted the Dolphin swim and on some of the boards they recommended not using Disney for this. Instead of a swim it is an "encounter" which means not getting in the water with the dolphins, just standng on a platform and touching them. The boards recommended shore trips as reliable and they will refund money if the ship cannot dock. It is a bit more since you pay for your cab ride to the park and then pay park admission, but it is already expensive so I figured to make sure we get to be in the water with them we would do it that way. You can also book now. I would do it right away since I know the one we are on is already full.
Michelle

We did the Dolphin encounter (through Disney) at Nassau, on the 4 day Wonder. I obviously don't know what they do in Cozumel, but we enjoyed the Nassau one it a lot. You need to check age limits if you want to do the actual swim, we were offered when we got to the Dolphin place an opportunity to pay extra and do the actual swim, but it was age 8 and up I believe. As for the encounter it lasted about 45 minutes, you stood in water on a platform, adults knelt down and a Dolphin swam right up to you, gave you hugs, you could feed it too. You took turns with theother families in your group, so your actually one on one time with the Dolphin wasn't huge, but it made my 5 year old's trip. If you have younger kids then this is probably the way to go. I would check out the company directly as Michelle suggested. You can still save money booking directly through them even just for the encounter.

Laura - I am terrible for printing out the menu's, I probably could tell you what I'm going to order at this point!!! I have a stack printed out for our WDW trip later this year too, I know they change a little sometimes, but I like to dream. Which probably explains why I am not the skinny thing I was at age 20, more like size 20 now, sigh....

:ssst: :ssst: Me too !!! I've ALREADY started choosing my favorite deserts ;) from each menu !!!!!

Well I hate to say this as you guys will think I'm nuts, I know without looking what's on most the menus at WDW. So I too have read over them a few times.

Laura sent you a PM.

For your input on booking excursions. I went ahead and booked the family for a Dolphin Swim with Dolphin Discovery in Cozumel. They only had the 12:00 time available (perhaps because I was booking a party of 4?)

I figured it was better to get the reservation now and cancel if our plans change.

Bob

Glad you were able to make the reservation...12:00pm is a Great time for the swim.

Good Morning/Afternoon Everyone :sunny:

I just called DCL and added the Florida Resident Rate to our reservation and saved $518.00. I was up this morning early as I am trying to book a room at Wilderness Lodge with a good rate to visit before the cruise (AP or Florida Resident Rate) but the discounted rates for the Resorts hadn't been issued. I did however read that some discounts where posted for the DCL and I was able to add it to our reservation.

WOW, Beckie, that was a BIG saving !!!

Ehm ... :confused3 if you are looking for a room at our WL before the cruise ... :scratchin WHY did you book at Radisson ???
( I thought you didn't like that much Radisson last year ... wasn't Terry talking about Ron Jon's Caribe ?? )

:wave2: Laura
PM sent back to ya

Laura
Hello Laura, maybe you forgot...the week-end before the cruise (August 4th-6th) I'm going to try and come down to WDW Jeanne and Marcel are also going to try and meet us.

We decided on the Radisson because of the parking, you know Terry won't leave his TANG car just anywhere. Plus the rates went up at the other locations before I booked so price was a factor.

Beckie
PM Sent too you.

So..there hasn't been much action on this thread except for a few folks and I'm just wondering if anyone lurking out there has kids who match up in age with my little princesses - DD 7 1/2 is very much looking forward to making a lifelong friend on this cruise :goodvibes or at least someone she can look forward to playing with in the club, in the pool, or just see on board and wave her cute little first-grade wave to...

DD2 doesn't know what's going on but she is VERY pumped every time we watch the DCL DVD (and lately that has been daily)... I'm hoping if we can find a friend for her, she is going to be more likely to want to hit Flounders once or twice to give DW and I some alone time (since DD 7 1/2 actually UNDERSTANDS that mom and dad having alone time is okay - how did that happen? :cool1: ) Anyway, just thought I'd put it out there and see what we can find.

Jeff, which club does age 7 go to? My son, Kevin turns 9 this month and will be in the Oceaneer Lab. Will they be in the same room? He's very outgoing and plays with boys, girls...it doesnt matter to him. :teeth:

My daughter is 12 so I cant help ya there! but she enjoys younger kids! ;) :teeth:

Jeff

I have a complete list I'll PM you with our groups information. I have been trying to keep it updated. I will send everyone an updated copy as Jeff and LeiLani's information has been added. For now this is a list that everyone has posted on the boards of our younger cruisers.

10 Younger Cruisers:

7 Princesses
DD Christina (14)
DD Rachel (14)
DD Kaitlin (12)
DD Brittany (16)
DD Alyssa (10)
DD Elizabeth (7)
DD Emily (2)

3 Princes
DS Ben (6)
DS Kevin (9)
DS Bryce (8)

Beckie

that we are "missing it" mostly - DD7 will be in the Oceaneers Club unfortunately - she could probably bump up to the Lab...as she will be within a month of her birthday, but said she doesn't want to -- at least at first. Hopefully some others will join our thread and we'll have some more kids in the 5-7 range.

Beckie - your right those FL resident rates sure help out. I called today to get my parents reservation changed and it saved us $1430.00. DH is paying for my parents and his parents to go on this cruise so now I will have to brag that my parents are cheaper. Not only do we not have to pay for airline tickets, but their cabin is a lot cheaper. :teeth:

We are in the process of buying a condo in Pamana City Beach and it would be nice if we can access FL residents rates once that is done. Probably not though since we won't have FL driver's license. Oh well, won't keep me from Disney.

One of the colleges DD is looking at is University of Central Florida which is in Orlando. I told her to go ahead with that choice because it would give me a good reason to visit Disney every couple of months. :thumbsup2

Speaking of College, I'll be driving to Gainesville (UF) tomorrow to bring my DNephew home for a few weeks, before summer session starts. He crashed his car a few weeks ago and hasn't gotten it replaced yet. So I told him I would come get him.

Then we are having a surprise birthday party for my Dad. So I'll be away for most of the day.

LeiLani
I received your information and will add it to the list as soon as I can.

Thanks
Beckie

Jeff

Laura and I have a friend that cruised with us last August. He booked this cruise while onboard last year, so he may be joining us. He has a daughter that will be 6 1/2 perfect friend for Miss Elizabeth. So she may have several friends before our cruise date.

 Jeff , I'm not sure if DCL still allows this ...but you  could try !!
When a friend of us was cruising with an infant/about 2yo and she went to Flounders soon after boarding to make reservation for little Ian , the counselors let Mom and little kid to stay TOGETHER that afternoon into the nursery and play - so Ian could "try"their toys and also the mats(?) for the nap . He loved it there ! and I remember he was "telling" us during the cruise he wanted so much to go back to their "bouncy" (not sure about the word ... bouncers ?)
Hope this could help ... :confused3

Laura

WOW !!!! Leilani , you sure got a "bargain " !!!!
