August 10, 2013 Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Fantasy

How should we split the FE?

  • Split the FE list in half (2 groups 22 - 26 staterooms)

  • Stick to the idea of a headcount (3 groups (14/15 staterroms)

Well in 6 months we will be halfway thru the cruise and we will be in St. Thomas on a beach renewing our vows for our 20th Anniversary. Getting excited for the cruise. Booked our hotel for the night before the cruise after we fly in. Hoping to get to know some of you before we cruise. Just wish the boards were giving me updates, since I subscribed to this thread.

We booked 2 more cruises today for summer of 2014 on the Magic! Wee are actually doing the 4 and 5 night cruises back to back. W would have loved to book a 9 night or 12 night cruise but my husband's schedule just doesn't work out with the cruise dates and i had my heart set on Europe....so we booked 2 instead... Hey, the airfare isn't cheap...better make this worth the trip over!
Did anyone else book anything new?

I cannot believe that we will actually have nearly finished the first half of our back to back in half a year. So unreal ........... we have been counting down for so long. :goodvibes
Sorry about the board not sending you updates. :sad2:

Congratulations! We should be right behind you. ;) We are not booked yet, but we will book as soon as we can when we are back on the DREAM on Sunday.
We have looked at all the itineraries and decided on the 12 night which leaves from Venice and returns to Barcelona. First time we WILL NOT have to deal with horrid airfare. :woohoo:

Hey guys!

It will most likely be ALL of the family participating in FE, but I will double check with them this week to make sure they still want to do it! Only one month to go before "Nemo" is here! I'll let yall know boy or girl once they make their appearance!!

As far as excursions go, I've been scouring the threads for good recommendations, does anyone have any opinions on booking on your own? Or do you guys do all Disney excursions all the time? I've done it both ways and don't really have a preference, but I guess DH is worried about safety since we've never been to these ports before!

Have a great day everyone!!

Me too!! Hope Karin and Tom are home and sleeping after a great cruise and days at WDW!

My family is new to disney cruises. We typically travel on RCCL but decided this summer to take the kids on the Fantasy. My hubby and I and our two kids (boy 8, girl 6) will be going. I will try to encourage our friends who will also be going to sign on to this board as well. Please include us in the FE as I have been told by others that it is fun for the kids.

Welcome to the Dis , Karin is an awesome lady and has lots of tips ideas and wonderful pix , you are gonna LOVE this thread !!!!

First off, please let me apologize for not responding to your posts any sooner, but Tom and I have been on the Disney Dream for our half term cruise and added on a few days at WDW. We returned late last Sunday and it was straight back to work on Monday.
Unfortunately I came down with a bad cold (the temperature difference from 85°F to 28°F didn't sit well with me) right after we returned and it took me a while to get back to health and find time to answer to posts.

Trying to stay on top from now on! :goodvibes

Hi!
I hope you and little Nemo are doing well. Please let us know when he/she arrives! :goodvibes

I guess we will stick with Disney excursions this summer. We have not been to any of the ports before and don't really know what to expect, so we would like to play it safe and stay with Disney.

As far as the FE exchange is concerned, I will put all of your family members on the list and you just let me know if someone opts out of it. No biggie!

Waiting for word on the trip!!!!!

Me too!! Hope Karin and Tom are home and sleeping after a great cruise and days at WDW!

You know us well, Christine! :thumbsup2

:welcome: to the DISboards and to this thread. :goodvibes
I am glad you decided to give DCL a try. We have only ever sailed with Disney and just love it.
Would you please post (or email - there is a link if you click on the member name on the left) everyone's first names and your stateroom number so I can update the list. Tom and I love to personalize some of our gifts so names are necessary. :)
And YES, FEs are fun. They are fun for everyone, not just kids. :thumbsup2

Thank you for your kind words, Rosie! :goodvibes

We've booked a none-DCL parasailing excursion on St Maarten with No1SXM. Main reason was DCL have an age restriction at CC and No1 only have a weight limit (minimum & maximum)

My family will be going on the Fantasy Cruise August 10. That will include Shelley (myself - 46), Louis (my ex-husband - 48), Danielle (daughter - 21), Brittany (daughter - 18) and Joshua (son - 16).

Brittany is graduating high school this year and wanted to do a Disney Cruise for her graduation trip. Danielle will be graduating college in December, so she is happy to tag along. Her graduation trip included going to WDW but mostly going to Universal Studios when The Wizarding World of Harry Potter opened.

Anyway, I would like to join the Fish Extenders, but I am not sure how many people are doing this on this cruise. This is our first cruise and I am kind of scared about it because like going to WDW, there is SO much to do that I really want to enjoy it, but not feel so overwhelmed.

Please help me!!!

Thanks!

Shelley

First off, :welcome: to our cruise thread.
Cruising with Disney is so much fun, you all are going to have a wonderful time.

As for the Fish Extender - there is lots of information in my first post and feel free to ask if you have any other questions.
There is also a link (in red at the end of the post) showing all the people who are currently signed up for the FE exchange.
WE love to do it. It is like a secret santa kind of thing and it is so much fun to come back to your stateroom and find another little gift in the extender. Not only fun for kids.
There is even a thread with homemade gifts.
If you are concerned about the time it takes to deliver the gifts, you can easily devide it into decks and will be done in 10 minutes per deck.
Tom and I like to deliver gifts daily and it is our after dinner "work out". We have so much fun getting to parts of the ship we would NEVER have gone to without having to find certain staterooms.

Think about it and let me know if you want to join. If you do, I'll add you to the participants list. All your names are in your post, so all that I still need is your stateroom number if you already know it. ;)

More praise, Rosie? You are making me blush! ;)

Thanks. I can't wait until we get to cruise!

We just got off the Dream 10 days ago and I cannot wait to get back on one of those Disney ships! :rotfl2:

My goodness how time flies!! Ten days already!!

Hey guys!
Although we haven't actually booked yet, my mom (53) and I (22) are planning on going on this cruise and I can't wait. I've been to WDW many a time, even did a college program last fall, but I've never been on a Disney cruise. FINALLY talked my mom into it just last week.
We're still considering if we will do the FE. It sounds like a lot of fun, but neither my mom or I could stand committing until we think of satisfactory ideas for gifts. I was wondering though, is it supposed to be something for every night, or just a one time thing?

Great to know that you are thinking about booking this cruise! You will love a Disney cruise. They are just so awesome. :thumbsup2
Let me know when you are booked, so I can add you to the list of cruisers. :goodvibes

FE IS a lot of fun. Have you been to the homemade FE gift thread here on the DIS to give you an idea. If you don't have time to make the gifts yourself I am sure you will come up with something fun that you can just buy ready made.
Since you asked about how often you have to "deliver", well, that is completely up to you. Some people do it once a cruise, others, like my DB and me, we hand out gifts several times a cruise. Be aware - we hand out very small and lightweight gifts (we travel from overseas) and LOVE to walk around the ship handing them out.
Okay, to put it in a nutshell. As long as you hand out one gift per stateroom(or person, but that's up to you too :rotfl2:) you are in. Think about it and once you are booked and have decided, just let me know. :goodvibes
