August 10, 2012 Disney Dream

Hi Kara,
Thanks for taking the time to organize the FE.. Count the Davis family in.
No cabin yet . There's me Joanna, DH joe and DD Maggie(14) We signed up for early dining thinking that would be better for DD's evening activities. Was curious how many others have early dining..One more quick ? what have you all worn in the past for optional dress up night? August won't get here soon enough!

Joanna,

We are also signed up for early dining.

As for what to wear, we have not been on Disney cruise, so I have the same question. However, I'm guessing it's not much different from the Carnival cruise we took last year. We dressed up fairly nice, semi-formal-ish. There were a few in tuxes and gowns, but they were mostly the older folks. I'm guessing we would not see a lot of that on the Disney cruise. There were also a few who were more casually dressed.

Hi all! We will be there for early dining as well! For "formal night" we usually dress up nicely... a nice dress, nice outfits for the kids...they are thrilled!, and my husband wears a coat and tie..no tux. You do see all different styles though!! So it is whatever you feel comfortable wearing!:cool1:

We are soooooo excited!!! The summer is going to fly and then we will be packing!!!:cloud9:

Have a great day!!!:dance3:

Boo! :sad1: we have late dining. I'm hoping I can get DD16 to just dress nice for dinner.....anything super dressy would really be a challenge! She is super casual right now.....no cute little dresses or anything. :confused3

:goodvibesHi all! We are joining this cruise too and CAN'T WAIT! :thumbsup2 It will be me, Amy, my DH, our DD who will be almost 13, our other DD who will be 11, and our DS, who will be 6! We have done 3 other Disney cruises...just got back from the Eastern on the Magic in January...which was FABULOUS!!! :cheer2:

Looking forward to counting down to this cruise and hopefully we will be able to have a fish exchange...just did our first one and it was incredibly fun!!!

Have a great one!
Amy:flower3:

What is a fish exchange?

We live in VA and this will be a first anything Disney! Pretty excited yet nervous too. Anybody near by?

:earsboy: Hubby :earsgirl: Myself :earsboy: Son (7) :earsgirl: Daughter (4)

We live in Virginia (Loudoun County). We moved here recently from Towson, MD.

Welcome karenlh! We live near you....in Frederick County, MD, not too far from Loudoun County (just the other side of the Potomac :)). We actually live fairly close to Leesburg. My brother lives in Loudoun County (Sterling). In what part of Loudoun County do you live?

Answering your question: a "fish exchange" is a gift exchange. It's called that because there are hooks next to the cabin doors on the ships that are shaped like fish, called "fish extenders." (I think they are not fish on the Dream and Fantasy...only on the older ships). Anyway, you can make bags that hang from them, and then secretly leave a small gift for the other families in their bags sometime during the cruise. They will do the same for you. (We are signing up through this thread). There are some links on Disboards that discuss it/show photos of peoples bags and gifts. We have never been on a Disney cruise, so we have not done it yet, but we are very excited to try it! Here are 2 links:

It's almost final payment time! There's just so much to do before this cruise, I'm looking forward to it, but don't want to wish my life away!

Will anyone be in WDW before the cruise? We'll be with our DGS (8).

Can you still get the Characters to Sign pillowcases? Ours are getting faded.

Yes, we will be there with our kids (DD16, DS14, DS14) and my sister will be there as well with her DD6 and DD4. We will probably arrive on the 5th.

Yes, I believe they still sign the pillow cases, according to some of the threads I've read.

We'll be at Bay Lake Towers, I think DGS likes that one best because of the games in the community room. We gave him a choice of legos or a character meal, he chose the Legos. I think we're going to have lots of down time in our studio. He's not a primarily a park person, but does like to swim.
I arrive on the 6th they arrive on the 7th.
Good to know about the pillowcases.
I haven't gotten an answer from DDiL regarding FE, so we may not doing that.

Anyone know which night of our cruise will be pirate night and which will be semi-formal? I've seen conflicting info. Generally it seems that pirate night is the night we're in Nassau, and semi-formal is the sea day. But some cruises switched the two. I'm trying to sort out which night to do Palo, and I don't know what to do. Definately want to make sure my pirate obsessed 5 year old gets to go to pirate night!

Marcy,

Thank you for all the info. The fish exchange sounds like fun! Would do we tell that we would like to be a part of it? Also, how do I get accepted to the facebook page for this cruise?

I think we have late dining.

We live very near you and your brother! I go through Frederick County all the time (it's the "back" way to Baltimore!) And we live in Ashburn, which is about 10 minutes from Sterling!

Ok, I just created a Facebook page for our cruise. If you search Facebook for Disney Dream 8-10-2012, ask to join and I'll approve you. :)
Can't wait to start meeting people!

Hi Scrapbookmomma, I sent a request to join the facebook page.

Thanks!

We'd like to join the Fish Exchange! We had a 9B GTY, but just got our room assignment - 2502. Yay! I don't know who's organizing this cruise's FE, but please add us to your list: Room 2502 - Heidi (mom), Aaron (dad), & DSon8

You can check this out on the DCL website, when you log in; go to "My Reservations", then to "My Cruise Activities".
For our sailing Pirates Night will be on Day 4, Monday 13 august, Sea Day.
They don't mention semi-formal. I don't know if there's a semi-formal night on a 5 day cruise.

To join the fish exchange, just post your info here. We are making a list!

Ashburn is SO CLOSE to us! I suppose you drive up route 15 to get to I 70, huh? We live in Jefferson, which is right off of Rt. 15. Maybe we can get together pre-cruise! Have you joined our facebook page yet?

weloveheidi - I just added you information to the Fish Exchange List. All the information is currently on page 11 of this Thread....Whoever else wants to join just list you name and I will added to the listing.
