August 10, 2012 Disney Dream

So, is anyone interested in trying to do a "meet and greet" on the ship? Probably on the first day, maybe at the sail away party? (There IS a sail away party, correct?).

Welcome Joanna! Does anyone have any teen boys on this cruise? We will have two boys in our group ages 14 and 16. Of course, they're also happy to hear about the girls their age. :cool1:

My son and his family are spending five nights at Universal since they want to see the Harry Potter stuff. The rest of us will be at Disney World pre-cruise.

Do any of you have plans for the Nassau stop?

Gail

Hi Gail,
We were thinking of walking around Nassau or if the horses look in good shape possibly taking a carriage ride around the island. Then heading back to the ship for some Aqua Duck fun!! My daughter was glad to hear that there were a few teenage girls. She just hopes they don't think she's to young..(14):beach:

Joanna,

There will be SO many kids on this cruise...don't worry, your daughter will make plenty of friends. Last year, we took a Carnival Cruise to Bermuda. It was a smaller ship than the Disney Dream. There were so many kids of different ages. My very shy daughter (15 at the time) was so worried about making friends. She met some friends the first night, and I barely saw her after that. (She still keeps in touch with those girls, and hopes to get together with them again at some point in the future.) Tell her not to worry!! (I know, I know....teenage girls are programmed to worry...;))

Gail,

Still trying to figure out what to do at Nassau. Definitely going to avoid Atlantis.

We will be at Disney pre-cruise as well! (We did Universal in January. Harry Potter was cool, but Universal/Islands of Adventure doesn't have much more than a day to a day and a half of stuff to do...Disney is way better! ;)).

Marcy

Gail,

I have two 14 year old boys (along with my 16 year old girl)!

Marcy

Oh, I forgot that. I'm going to have to keep a list of kids ages.

How dressed up is everyone going to be on the one dress up night? I have read that most don't dress up much since there's no formal night. I've never done a short cruise like this before.

I'd be game as well! Plus the kids could meet each other face to face

So, any of you experienced Disney cruisers know about the sail away party? Is it held on deck? Is there a good place for all of us to meet?

In the past the sail away party has been by the pool and the cruise directors crew and characters dance and get everyone pumped up for the beginning of the cruise!!! It is a LOT of fun! Now, I have never done the dream so it might be different!!!:confused3

Last January when our FE dis group met, we met before the sail away party at a set time in one of the lounges. It was brief but long enough for the kids to meet each other in their age groups. :wave2:

Just a thought!!! We are up for anything! So excited! Starting to get my FE thoughts together!!! About how many families are in this now? Will we have a cut off day?pixiedust:

Have a great day!!! It's Friday!!!!:cool1:

Amy,

Meeting everyone before the party briefly in one of the lounges sounds good to me! Anyone else have thoughts/ides/experience with this?

Marcy

I agree with Amy....before the sail away party sounds like a good idea. DH and I have been on 1 cruise prior to this and I remember the sail away party as being fun, but a madhouse!
And as far as having a cutoff for the FE, I think that would be the best plan. Maybe 1 month prior to sailing?

Denise

I think a month cut off for the FE would be good or even 6 weeks....just to get it all set!!! Very excited about that part pixiedust:! It is soooo much fun for the kids to run to the room to see if anything is in the extender!!!
:beach:

Can't believe we are getting so close!!!

Hi all! I just signed up for these boards. I'm going on this cruise, and I already know some of you. I'm moobear67's sister (hello to you from the next room over). :wave2:

I have two daughters, ages on the cruise will be 6 and 4. I'm looking for fishhook extender ideas.

So excited!

Welcome sis! (It's about time you signed up...;))

My DD and I have been dwelling on what to do for our FE...and now we are pretty sure we figured it out! Whoo hoo! I can't wait...but of course it is a secret.... :rolleyes1
