What will August 1-10 be like at WDW? Hot and unbearably crowded or just hot? I've never gone during summer before.

It will be hot and crowded. How unbearable it is depends on what you're used to. August is a crowded month, and it feels even more crowded because it's hot and humid and you're in close proximity to a lot of people. But many people love August at WDW and enjoy their afternoon breaks at the pool and their evening strolls around Epcot. Just drink lots of water, leave the park when you're starting to get "too hot" or go cool down in a restaurant or attraction. (Hall of Presidents and American Adventure are great "cool down" attractions!) Don't try to do too much, and just have fun. And remember that when people get hot and tired they can get cranky, so take a sense of humor with you too!

The first week in August is usually crowded and August is always hot no matter what time of the month. We found that the crowds lessen in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th weeks of the month. Most Florida schools are back in session by the middle of August is what we have heard is the reason. It is doable though. Just take your time and the other poster is correct just drink lots of water.

We will also be there the first week of Aug. Our last three trips have been the first week of Aug. Yes, it is hot and crowded. You can have a great trip if you tell yourself before you go that it is going to be hot and crowded. Try to keep a positive additude. So people get very testy when they are hot. We take little battery operated fans that hang around your neck and they work great. Also use fastpass as much as possible.

Have a great trip. We can not wait to go!!

We usually go every august, but since we just got back this april, I think we will change. Aug. is hot, unbearable hot. Even my dh threw a temperature tantrum and embarressed me last aug. There was more rain than we wanted to deal with. If you plan well you will not have a problem. Keep hydrated, wear light colored clothing, lots of sunscreen, ac breaks, mister fan, rain ponchos etc. If you go to a water park, get there really early since most seats are gone by 10:30 at the latest. If you want to eat somewhere special, make a ps. Many times we heard walk ups not accepted today, tonight etc. I was loving our ps and eating in the nice ac places. Hit the parks early, get fp for all you can, definetely take the afternoon nap, rest and ac break and go back to the parks when its cooler. That was our lifesaver. Also check into the refillable mugs. They are worth it. I also made gatorade and koolaid in the room to take into the parks. No one said anything to us. There was no way I was wasting alot of money on drinks and with one ds with asthma he needed to have a drink asap when he needed it, no waiting in a line etc. Good luck.

It's very hot, very humid, very rainy, and very crowded. All four will wear you out very fast. Go in the morning to any park of your choosing, leave in the early afternoon for a nap or some pool time, and go back to any park in the early evening. Drink plenty of water and always have that poncho handy.

I know everybody else has probably offered this advice but it sure saved me during my last trip. Have a great trip and I wish I could be there with you! ::yes::
